dwarf that i've never seen "returning"

new world, new fortress, set up a tavern and immedtily got hit with the message that a marksdwarf and speardwarf were returning from "abroad" and that the speardwarf brought a rumor, looking at the unit screen, the marksdwarf is there under the other units, but the speardwarf doesn't exist, and there's no news or rumors on the world screen, anyone else experience this?

Hrm, is this an old save that you transfered over? And did this happen soon after starting up the save? Toady did say that currently bugged units probably wouldn't be fixed, I wonder if it's possible that they were already bugged and on the way to your fortress.

weeeelll, stupid me, I though I had 44.05, turns out I never downloaded it, I was still using 44.04
