Maxime arranges a PRIVATE meeting with Nallihen, Archie and Mordred.

"Given the behaviour of the dagon mages Enoch and Nji, it appears obvious that they are trying to turn the royal heir into a dread beast of the abyssal depths, and raise as many of the kraken-spawn as they can to assist her destruction of the kingdom. Rather than allow them to continue, I suggest we force them to devote their entire efforts to restoring the Princess to her proper state, through hypnotism or death threats. Alternatively, we might kill the treasonous plotters and carefully heal her ourselves. With our combined knowledge of polymorphing and various magical techniques, we should be able to reverse the horrific successes of Dagon magic."

"We must work fast. Marcille is already half sea-thing, and her sanity slips daily. I suspect Cio would aid us in curing her, but haven't talked to her about this as she lacks the conviction to act..."

"So would you prefer to kill the traitors sooner, or try and force them to stop? Believe me, reasoning with these men is pointless - for all their stumbling rhetoric, priests know only force."

((Also, I want to note that the only times Dagon Magic had adverse effects were on [1] rolls. And that Vitamancy was the magic that transformed the tentacles into a parasite.))

Seeing half of the mages in the tower suddenly vanish into another room, Enoch decides to start a PRIVATE meeting with Nji, Cio and Dennis

"Brothers and Sister, I fear for my life. I can feel death knocking on the door of this tower and the ravens waiting to feast in the corpses of the oncoming fight. I have noticed how everyone is becoming distant, and how we keep looking behind us to make sure our friends are not planning to stab us in our backs. What used to be a team has now split appart and broken into a million pieces.

Everyone has seen how weird has Maxime been acting recently. I thought it was odd that she would try to implant a brain parasite on the princess. When Mordred started with the human sacrifices, I could already feel the tension building on the team. Now, Nallihen has created a... monster inside the princess and Archie plans to erase everything we have worked on so far. They no longer trust us and are probably plotting to deny us access to the princess right now. They belive we are the ones who have caused the princess to grow sick and they want to get rid of us and control her life. We cannot let them take her freedom and we must show them that they can trust us with the princess. But that is not all, because Maxime has threatened to kill me multiple times and I could feel that she was telling the truth the last time. What if they try to kill us all and take the princess to themselves?

Just now, they might be in a meeting exactly like us, plotting against us just because they can't accept that mistakes happen. They don't realize that we aren't the gods who are rolling the dices of fate here.

Nji, you know me well. I wouldn't hurt a fly and you worked with me these past weeks. You know everything I want is to protect the princess and have her learn about the world.

Dennis, I greatly appreciate your work with the sea cucumbers and admire your knowledge of these curious animals. You understand that there are little differences between Sea Cucumber magicians and Dagon priests.

Cio, you have been nice to me and everyone else in the tower and you know that it was fate the one who decided to give the princess a harsh future. You know that we couldn't do anything about it.

We're friends and we must trust each others in these dark times. We can't let them take the princess for themselves.
If they were to try to take her from us, would you support me? If they tried to kill us, would you fight alongside me? Would you do that for me?

Would you do it for her?"

((Yes, I'm making a team too. Sorry if it's a little metagamey.))

((Also, I want to note that the only times Dagon Magic had adverse effects were on [1] rolls. And that Vitamancy was the magic that transformed the tentacles into a parasite.))
((The transformation into parasite was more of a retcon; Nallihen was only trying to teach Vitamancy to the princess, which failed because the tentacles were draining the vitality involved in the magic, which led to the Realization that they were a parasite))

((Also, don't know how I missed your post, NJW))
"From what I can tell, either they just don't recognize that those magics would ruin her relationship with the kingdom, or they just don't care. I would rather put them on guard duty of the tower or some such. I am not expecting an attack from anyone in the near future, unless another representative for the council comes by and word leaks out of the princess's...stomach bug. Yes, for the time being, let's refer to it as that, in case some curious scryer overhears. Anyway, for them to stop ingraining their magics into her, they must be dead, far away from her, or think it's not a good idea. Have you considered using your psycho-entomology to suggest it to them...directly? Even giving them lasting headaches would give us some time to cure Marcille and make her recognize that she should stay away from and ignore their magics".

"That's exactly what I am saying, my friend Dennis! They deseperately want to stay in control of her life. They continuously mix what she wants with what they want. They keep trying to manipulate her against us and then say it's our fault. They have made her fear and hate us. Could you belive that Maxime has tried to force her out of her cucumber tank and to sleep inside a insect cocoon during these weeks? Or that Archie plans to delete everything she has learnt, including your lessons of sea cucumber magic? Or that Nallihen insist on teaching her vitalmancy to forget about her dream of being a sea cucumber? They don't let her have freedom. They don't want their new puppet to have free will."
(Note: I edited the post that is after Maxime arranges the meeting.)

"It would be easier to have them fix the problems they've made. The council's request isn't worth a battle, especially against Dagon cultists. Should they gain the upper hand, it's not merely death that awaits us, and we cannot allow our genius to be lost over such a mundane problem."

Enoch continues talking in his private meeting with the other mages.
"Now, I suspected there might be a greater reason for the behavior of the other mages and their obsesion with taking her independence. That's when it hit me. She's going to become a queen soon, the most powerful woman in the kindgom. If they gain complete control over her, they gain control of the whole kingdom and the future of all of it's inhabitants. And once they take over the kingdom, no one will be able to stop them. But we still have a chance now. If we stop them from trying to insert their malicious ideas in her mind now, we might have a chance to stop their plans of total domination, or at least delay them. We cannot let them have her. We must work together as a team and trust each other, or we will fall alone. The future of the kingdom depends on us."

Spoiler: OOC (click to show/hide)
Nallihen didn't want to be dragged into any faction-building inside the mage's build for such petty reasons, and he seemed obviously annoyed at the whole situation they've found themselves in. Having her vomit tentacles was bad enough, but having them developed enough as to actually shift the vitamancy focus to draining their "host" was something else. Something else that was definitely crappy.

"They can fix her. I cannot teach her anything and she cannot respect my authority if she's made into a hateful fish magic-based creature. I will take a break from teaching the mutated and spiteful human hatchling and check on the peasants who think I'm their deity. Call or visit me if necessary." the hybrid-dragon said, turning around in a dramatic manner to make his cloak billow and accidentally smacking his tail against a corner before leaving the tower in as dignified a way as he could while tears welled up in his eyes.

Check if the peasant cult has any priests; if so then to teach them Polymorphing, if not then just pick the ones foolhardy enough to want to be priests then teach them Polymorphing.

((Waitlisters better prepare because people is going to start dying real soon. I really can't see any other outcome because neither Maxime or Enoch want to desist on their objetives. It's probably going to end in a fight. Enoch may be a priest, but he's going to defend himself and fight to death for what he thinks is the good reasons.))

Cio held the task roster aloft with air magic, her tome in one hand, and a delicate image of what others were saying in though, in another. In the meeting with three others, she nodded at Nallihen's idea.

"I first agree that we should optimize what people do rather than just because we can do such. I myself may not be able to do anything unless such esoteric magic lessens its hold on our royal ward: Alongside that, I do respect your idea of feeling paranoid, Enoch, but I doubt that this guild is as spiteful as if it was built on assumptions and personal agency to act, rather than why this guild exists in the first place. It is only three weeks of effort, meaning such spells cast on the Princess are temporary. I'll be sending word to the cucumber mage and, for you as our Dagon mage, to please work with each other in demystifying our ward. As the timing, however, of another matter is altogether unannounced, I will try to handle the coming of our council checker, who I presume will come every two weeks if the first visit was anything to speak about. Otherwise, I am open to requests, but I do hope for organization with our weekly actions here, other than the many mundane tasks we all look after (such as food and petty cash finances)."

She began to write messages (utilizing her air magic for speed and finesse) and sent them speeding out of the room to the respected mages' resting chambers for ease of communication.

"Now what's on those messages is a sense of unity. What I vaguely suspected--but never spoke about--was why there is a reason on the council's lack of deliberation and consistency regarding choices; I did put in petty arguments and strange notions that are all too common with clashing ideals, but it doesn't fit the fact that supposedly better mages more skilled than us cannot reach a decision given their arbitration prowess. This is emphasis of even our skills failing due to external circumstances. Meaning: I believe there are other forces playing their hand on the princess' stake here, even if they work through our actions. We are skilled people--not the best--but adept in what we do, and something has been modifying our plans and results, at least in the extreme in subtlety. Either way, it is merely speculation at this point, but a consistent one at that. I will be tending to other matters now, either aiding with resuscitating the princess, or casting a field of illusion to...cover up, anything if there is another surprise checker this week much like last. If my presumption is correct of an otherworldly force towards or on the princess' fate, I do hope it is not actively against us."

Cio messages all mages who...err, currently affected the Princess with dem tentacles (sans Nallihen because she just talked to him) to please cooperate and fix what's going on. She also adds a request for some organization with the spells being cast, as it does not seem our skill alone is playing a part into the results.

IF there is a council or something checker this week, Cio will...illusion a state of "EVERYTHING IS OKAY"ness on the whole area of what the checker will check, obviously not relying on her novitiate knowledge (this is backup instead), but her social knowledge!

Otherwise, her goal this week is to tend to the princess without training--either using her life magic for helping out with removal of pesky magics, or just speaking to her and acting like an emotional support and venting person, acting like a rolemodel rather than training any magics. Perhaps this is a different skill altogether that isn't magic?

Maxime nods.

"I can see that a subtler approach is necessary. I will attempt to stop their machinations through humble arthropsychics, giving the sane among us time to cure her."

Maxime allows Sally to familiarise herself with the tower, warning her to stay away from people and just look through the library for things that might interest her.

In the meantime, she will try and create a swarm of bedlice (perhaps from the dreamlice) capable of crawling into the ears of sleepers, able to release and amplify ancient primal fears of the so-called gods of the deep. The idea is to overwhelm the minds of victims with recollections of abyssal horror, or at least make them terrified of anything Dagon, unable to tolerate the mental pressures such arts must hold. The basic idea is to put a stop to the Dagon magic.

She'll put the lice, discreetly (remember that +2 subterfuge, some people don't) in the beds of Nji and Enoch.
