"Item inaccessible" + "Cannot find path" spam HELP
« on: January 14, 2018, 06:04:29 pm »

Suddenly, my fortress came to a halt. I had some monsters slayers wonder into a cave before I could block it off. They wondered for a bit and then became thirsty and hungry and started to endlessly spam these errors absolutely killing my frame rate. I tried removing the walls blocking the stairs to the cave, designating water sources within the cave, but, their behavior didn't change and neither did my frame rate. Luckily after a while the went missing. Problem solved I guess. Then all my dwarves started spamming the same errors. I tried removing and re designating all my zones and stockpiles to no effect. Can some one tell me whats going on with this? I do not wish to lose this fortress as I have many hours invested. I'd like to upload images to this posting but cannot figure out how.

What version is it? Might I try a copy of the "RegionX" folder if it's 44.03/44.04 ?

Did you try deleting all stockpiles to see what the dwarves would do?
One job cancellation spam I'm aware of is dwarves trying to move items outside their burrow, so that's worth considering as well.

Did you recently upgrade the fortress from 0.43 to 0.44? I had that with Kingdomsabres.

Incidentally I solved that one by retiring and unretiring the fortress.

Given current events, I've altered my profile pic and I'm sorry it took so long to fix. If you find the old one on any of my accounts elsewhere on the internet, let me know by message (along with the specific site) and I'll fix. Can't link the revised avatar for some reason.

I don't have any burrows currently setup and yes I deleted them and remade them and the problem persists.

I had this in a previous fortress. Solved it by d-b-ffing over the entire caverns (forbid everything in the caverns). It was corpse and tooth spam (from cave creatures killing each other) that caused it for me. Changing the options to forbid other corpses except hunting corpses made it never happen again for me.
Did you also delete and redesignate your refuse / corpse stockpiles?

This sounds like logical fix. However there's lots of adamantine in the canvern that I will soon try to mine out. How do I utilize this fix but also forbid everything in the caverns?

If I tell my miners to mine the ore will nobody then take it to a stockpile because I forbade the entire cavern?

Forbid items/buildings only forbids items in the ground and items in "buildings". Boulders from mining are created as soon as they're mined out, so aren't forbidden by default.

This seems to have fixed my issue! Now I have some kobolds that slipped in through the diagonal walls to deal with, anyways, thanks for your help!

If you had already mined within the caverns, you could forbid the caverns and then unforbid only the ore items, using the Stocks menu.
