Greetings everyone,

I would like to present our upcoming computer roleplaying game called Realms Beyond which also has Dwarves and therefore could appeal to some of you  :D

Realms Beyond is a classically inspired fantasy role-playing computer game with turn-based combat and a party system that allows you to control up to six characters at any one time. Whether you yearn for an open world to explore at your own pace, tactical combat that allows you to plan your moves carefully, or want to lose yourself in the rich fabric of our world, trying to survive and make your mark, Realms Beyond offers endless choices, lands to travel, monster-infested dungeons and a host of storylines to follow. Adapting and responding to the player's interactions with the world, you will find a depth and richness for your adventures that combines the very best of traditional gameplay with modern-day technologies. The result is a game world that comes alive, brimming with undiscovered stories, content, mysteries, and challenges.

Key Features:
  • Turn-based combat, featuring many favorite spells, feats and actions, based on rules described in the (3.5e) Revised System Reference Document (SRD) covered by the Open Game License v1.0a (OGL) by Wizards of the Coast, Inc.
  • Custom-built, isometric graphic engine that combines zoomable 2D and 3D technology to bring to the screen a never-before-seen amount of detail
  • A bustling open world, spanning entire continents, replete with believable NPCs, complex cultures, factions, societies and a fascinating history
  • Create a party of up to six characters, with customizable appearance, ranging from 7 different races and 8 different classes
  • More than one hundred spells, each with unique, stunning visual effects
  • Thousands of individual items to use and interact with
  • An epic storyline, massive quests, uncounted missions, hordes of monsters and a world that is steeped in lore and mystery
  • Create your own adventures, campaigns or even entire worlds using the UrWelt RPG Engine framework

Copy pasting the same advertisement to multiple places on the internet does not endear you to the forum here.

3.5 in 2018? Shouldn't it at least be Pathfinder?  ::)

As soon as someone shows some tiny interests in our game, I am happy to write individual texts. But since then, it's quite difficult to estimate if someone is interested at all.

But more related to DF: our game will also use a very unique procedurally generation to fill some places of our world with content (beside the manually designed).

We will also modify or remove some elements of the SRD 3.5e, mainly for particular character classes. Furthermore, we will also adapt to some changes Pathfinder did.

It's the first thing I look for to establish if a poster is just spamming anywhere they can to get their game attention.

Because this is right in the forum guidelines:

Understandable. I do the same in our forums and if the community of Dwarf Fortress wouldn't be much alike the audience of complex turn-based RPGs, I hadn't "spammed" here.
But as indie developer of niche games and without any budget for PR or marketing, it's quite impossible to reach like-minded gamers in other ways.

Yeah, I know the struggles. Market or die. That said, while it may be more efficient to post the same thing at all the big places, sometimes less marketing and more #realtalk goes much further in some places. Such as now.

But marketing aims at selling products to people and we don't have any final product to offer (yet). In the current phase (end of pre-production), we can only present our concept and try to get in touch with our target audience (if existing). Not only to exchange ideas and get feedback related to game design, but also to find out if such a complex and "traditional" looking 2.5D RPG can find its audience in times ruled by behemoths such as Skyrim or Witcher.

I am playing DF since about 8 years now and some elements in our game are inspired by it (especially the generated content). The complexity and depth of DF is one driving factor for me to continue developing PC games (professionally since 1992). Therefore, at least, I have to try to connect other DF players with our game project, even if the vast majority will ignore it.

There's no chance of that

Well, our game looks and plays much more "traditional" than PoE, D:OS or Torment. For example, our hexagon-based worldmap, its resource management and survival and quite an old-school isometric perspective.

We cannot compete with those projects visually due to our limited production budget, therefore we have to focus our efforts on deep and complex world simulations and gameplay mechanisms. And that's the reason we need to get early feedback because we have to spend years on that project to get it right (see DF).

This looks good and all but... Is there gonna be a stronghold mechanic? I'm a sucker for that in games, and it kinda sucked in Pillars of Eternity.

Not exactly a stronghold but you will be able to acquire/manage/build/conquer properties in villages or towns vaguely comparable to Mount&Blade. Your standing at various factions can also add new options when visiting towns. Our abstract worldmap enables us to add more options to the strategical layer than other RPGs have.
