The colonists settled west of Tor Broch have discovered ample fields with good clay for firing bricks. They have chosen to name these plains the Broch Fields and term their new village East Broch Fields. Skilled stewards have taken up residence, sent by the nobility, to ensure things are well taken-care of.
Katrin reports back from the ruins in the northern swamps. She is unable to approach the ruins themselves, but they seem to be half-sunk into the swamp by design as much as age. It seems they belonged to some sort of aquatic or amphibian denizens. Whoever built them seems to be long gone, but the ruins are far from empty. Even before she can approach the outer limits of the dead city, Katrin reports back that she has found a large clan of what appear to be gremlins; wretched amphibian dwarfs armed with crude copper knives and little else. Of greater concern are the swamp sharks they have tamed and sometimes ride, which are able to navigate the swamp and fight. Of even greater concern are the deadly pits of ravenous worms they seem to exist in a state of loose co-operation with; thirty centimetre long mottled brown worms that seem non-threatening, except that they induce mind-blanking terror in those nearby and lay their eggs in the victims' brains. The gremlins apparently harvest the remaining bodies after the eggs hatch and devour the brain tissue before moving on. It seems she will not be able to advance into the city itself until this gremlin tribe has been exterminated.
Pathris reports back from Central Kol-Tarn Diuz that the mountain's spine continues as expected, bordered by hills and forests. However, the central spine of the mountain is rich in silver deposits, which would be ideal for both jewellery and converting directly into coins with a mint.
Speaking of which, Pathris' family, the Korusands, have sponsored just that. A new mint has been opened up in the capital with the optimistic hope that you will find something to mint it with. Perhaps not the wisest expenditure of the people's money, but perhaps it shows their faith in their government instead?
