Weapon Analysis
« on: January 04, 2018, 03:52:09 am »

I'm wanting to make a better analysis of weapons and the effect their materials have on them in Dwarf Fortress, I'm talking Charts, Graphs, Real numbers, just trying to figure out if it would be worth the time. :)

More information is always wanted. I would strongly advise posting your results on the forum here as a quazzi-pier review before editing the wiki directly.

Yes, we need research on how the new mechanics affect things. How long do certain materials last against one another before they are damaged? How does joint-twisting force play into various weapons' effectiveness?

Morning stars used to be considered one of the best weapons, but now the copper and silver ones you can find will probably fall to pieces quickly against armor. Steel war hammers could be the new thing.

Combat in general is always changing. Im surprised how the last changes in material wear and force transfer nerfed armors. Large creatures are a lot more dangerous now even if they cant pierce armor.

i usually go with silver hammers..its my thing you see...

On the topic of whips. Finding my dwarves lacking some evil style, I modded them to be able to make whips.
I have a dwarf primed for a weaponsmith mood, that likes whips.
What should I give him when he moods? Steel or platinum?

if i recall correctly; the heavier the metal. the better whip it makes...or was it something to do with sharpness??

idk if i recall correctly, silver whips could flay steel armor in two back in the day..but it HAS been ages since i last played

Whips are blunt. Platinum.

Platinum is twice as dense, but only available by moody dwarfs, so silver is the one used commonly.
