NAF-MAB-52 "Condor" Airship

The Condor is a large fully rigid airship. A duralinium framework holds up it's streamlined cigarlike form, within which reside numerous hydrogen filled gas bags. Despite it's enormous size (more than 200 meters long, and 35 meters wide), it is deceptively light. This makes it both affordable and gives it a tremendous transport capacity.

Propulsion is provided by 6 propellers jutting out of the side of the hull, each of which is reversible and can be operated individually. Beneath the airship hang 5 gondola's. The bridge gondola, the engine gondola that contains the turboshafts driving the propellors, and 3 payload gondola's, which can either contain goods/personnel, bombs, or a cannon. Additional Wiktor positions are present around the hull.

For safety, it s equipped with lifeboats, vests, and some essentials (tea) for the crew and possibly passengers.

In practice, it is supposed to see use as recon platform, troop transport, bomber, gun platform and transport solution.

Very Hard Difficulty: 4

The NAF-MAB-52 "Condor" Airship is the first airship in Serouda, and if the Toskesh hadn't built a giant merchant ship a few months ago it would have been the largest thing ever built on Serouda.  It's certainly the largest thing we've ever built, and the fact that we've never produced something of a similar scale or design means this attempt is quite difficult.

The Condor is essentially a cluster of hydrogen balloons held in shape by a duralumin (aluminum/copper alloy) frame.  It's skin is primarily fabric stretched over the duralumin skeleton, and numerous gondolas hang off the body.  A dedicated gondola is hung to both the port and starboard sides to attend to the total of six propellers, which propel the Condor at a leisurely pace through the sky.  A small gondola on the top acts as a potential mounting for several Wictor AA stations.  Another gondola sits at the bow to act as the bridge, and three additional gondolas on the belly act as cargo storage.  Lifeboats, parachutes, and tea stations are available for the crew in the event of an emergency or tea time.

The Condor is entirely unsuited for military action.  The hydrogen balloons leak non-stop; even with perfect balloons the hydrogen still seeps slowly through the barrier and into the atmosphere.  This is an enormous fire hazard, to the point where crew members are forbidden from smoking and crews are unwilling to use their Wictor AA stations except as a last resort.  The sheer size of the craft means even the worst marksman could hit it from the ground, and the Condor is extremely susceptible to small arms fire - let alone dedicated AA.  Theoretically the Condor could perform adequately at high altitude as a bomber, but high winds at these altitudes means a mission would likely be scrubbed if windspeed is too high.  6 Ore, 6 Oil, 2 Aluminum, +2 TC (Air).

Let’s not turn this into “Who-Revised-their-Radio-Last Race”, please.

With the Paradigm and Herald now just Expensive, this would help a lot in pretty much every theatre.

We spend some time fitting the Duke on the Paradigm and Herald. Maybe even other things too.

You should really look to the wilderness for your stealth ideas, it has been doing it much longer than you have after all. Take squids for example, that ink trick works pretty well, and in water too! So you just sneak into the dam upsteam, dump several megatons of distressed squid into it, then break the dam. Boom, you suddenly have enough water-proof stealth for a whole city!

Yeah, improved guns and cheaper vehicles = win all around

I would not really mess with radios unless they do it first, or we redesign our radio sets entirely.

Nogrania High Impact alcoholic fume Boxing:
A search went out over the various bars and pubs across of nogrania, with the goal of finding the man with the nastiest punch they could find, This was accomplished in a two-step plan.
First, the Nogranian Agents would provoke a bar fight, With almost all of the Bar goers quickly getting in on a chance to get in a fight.
Afterwards, the last few standing Barfighters would be stopped, before being asked to participate in a few test. This was in exchange for a complete paying off of their bar tab, Of course, Most of these Irish drinkers accept in a heartbeat.

Afterwards, the Barfighters are told to punch the bag filled with sand and held by a boxing coach. The men could take as many Swings at the bag as they wanted, and the goal was to hit it as hard as they could.

Finally, after the search was completed, a candidate for the position of Nogranian Olympic boxer. A man Named Dylan Mcfinnigan. A man who could throw a left hook that was, Indeed as proven by very scientific tests (PUNCH HARDER YOU SISSY!!) The hardest hitting in Nogrania, and he could damn well take one too if the barfight we had pulled him out of was any indications.

After the selection, The main bulk of his training revolved around making him actually Fight like a boxer. The man was already Built like a brick shithouse, and He had a damn near killer punch. The most important part was ensuring that He would actually fight like a boxer, and not resort to any dirty bar-fighting tricks in the ring.

As such, over the last few months, boxing coaches worked with him every day, Driving the basic rules and techniques of boxing into his head, Ingraining it into his body so that he wouldn't fall back on un-sportsman like behavior out of instinct.

Dylan Mcfinnigan was a man who could already throw a punch, and take more than His fair share of knocks. And with the last few months of training, his bodies in better shape than ever with a firm understanding of whats Acceptable in a boxing ring drilled into his head and form. Dylan Mcfinnigan is a champion fighter, and he should be a Damn good champion Boxer now.

This is what I have for an Olympic champion + training schedule. Changes? either way, hadn't seen one form anyone else soo, decided to make one.

Revision: Duke Fitting
We spend some time fitting the Duke on the Paradigm and Herald. Maybe even other things too.

Easy Difficulty: 5

We resize the mountings on the Paradigm and Herald.  There was some concern that the Herald might not take well to the increased weight, but those concerns were entirely unwarranted.  The Paradigm and Herald now sport much more impressive Duke 4" cannons, giving them the much-needed punch.

It is now strategy phase.  Please don't forget to propose your athlete and their training regime.  Additionally, please present your defense for the Rabid for the UN War Crimes Council.

Athlete: Sir Basil Williams the 3rd
Quote
At first we were having trouble looking for our Olympic headliner, but eventually a fellow from an adjacent department had an idea.
Enter the Her Majesty's Royal Nogranian Hunter-Gatherer Society. Perhaps the most elite hunting lodge in all of Nogrania.

We had trouble getting in at first. No matter what we did - money, government credentials, anything - they simply wouldn't even let us into their main building. After quite a bureaucratic nightmare, we managed to "borrow" membership privileges of someone on the High Council to gain access. It was quite extraordinary, if you can manage to not choke on the cigar smoke and pretentious stares. It was here where we found a second challenge - getting anyone to talk to our representative. Some skillful maneuvering of funds from some less-needed public projects managed to buy an outfit for the representative to let him barely pass as someone deserving of being in the club.

Finally, we found our candidate. Sir Basil Williams the 3rd. It was surprising he was willing to converse with the representative, actually. Named the top hunter by the lodge for many years in the row and perhaps the most skilled marksman in all of Nogrania, convincing him to represent Nogrania was difficult.
Money proved fruitless. International prestige and renown, on the other hand, saved the day. Williams agreed to help us when he heard he'd be the only one representing Nogrania. Quite prestigious.

When we finally managed to meet him in person and talked about his training regime, he simply laughed. He showed us his many achievements listed on the walls of the Hunting Society as well as accolades and trophies earned across the globe; described how he has hunted the fastest, most agile, and rarest creatures alive. He gave us a demonstration of his skills and managed to successfully use his rifle to shoot every target given without missed shots.

But we still had three months. Convincing him to “train” was impossible, as he believed he was already a shoe-in to best all others in the Shooting event.
So instead, we “agreed” and sent him on a tour across parts of Nogrania for two months, where he would participate in government-organized Olympic Shooting-style events in front of large audiences. Sure, the frequency and rigor was nearly-identical to that of standard training, but he either doesn’t know that or chooses to ignore it.
Next, Williams was given a month to practice numerous relaxation techniques to improve his aiming under pressure. He was told that this was to “improve his image to the international community”. Who knows – maybe he’ll be invited to the most prestigious hunting lodge in England? The techniques range from proper breathing to much more. We tell him that he looks very “dignified” now; more-so than usual, at least.

Now, as the Olympic Shooting event draws near, we are confident that Williams is ready. He was already ready – the real challenge was getting him to accept. But now he’s more ready than ever.

Also, people so far forgot to vote for where to deploy Ellis Green. I also think the Condor is a National Effort, so I added it to the votebox. It won't be immensely useful, but the winds should be down enough to allow it to serve as a high-altitude bomber. Which is nice, considering neither side has actual bombing capabilities.

Lame, everyone knows that Her Majesty Royal Nogranian Hunter-Gatherer Society is better than Royal Nogranian Hunter's Society.

Condor is pointless as a front line application, so I see no reason to deploy it. I rather use it for it' TC value than send it to die to front lines.
