The Garin Bicycle Gun

The development of our new weapon shall start with the adaptation of the Emu to our production line, renamed as the Tūn NMG and patented as Toskeshian property.
After we accomplish that necessary step, we will begin the development of our new weapon, the Garian Bicycle Gun. It consists on a modified Emu Tūn NMG in which the crank mechanism has been moved down and transformed into clipless pedals, similar to the ones in a bicycle, so the gunner can better aim and handle the recoil of the gun with both of his hands, improving accuracy. It also has the added benefit of allowing a higher speed of revolution because of the improved leg strength in comparison with the arm´s.

Further modification of the weapon includes a multibarrel design and usage of 20 mm rounds, tightly stored in order to reduce occupied space. A miniaturized electric motor helps the gunner, multiplying his efforts and ensuring he can restart the spin of the gun in no time.

Additional features:

Gears, which limit the maximum projectiles fired per minute to 1,500, 3,000 ,4,500 and 6,000 depending on the user choice.

Hard AP rounds, contained in a capped “soft” round with and streamlined cover increasing accuracy, penetration and reducing in-flight loss of velocity. Designed to be a machine gun round adaptation of the armour-piercing capped ballistic cap (APCBC) and compatible with the smaller caliber Tūn NMG.

The GBG is designed to be deployed either in fixed positions, as a secondary weapon for our Hexapods, in our Qui Chus so they can serve as a sort of AA platform and finally as front turret for our assault helicopters.

This is the proposed revision for this turn.

Now, I would like to argue for the advantages that having my radio would present:

1- Neutralization of enemy artillery, as observers won´t be able to relay orders to them. Important in the Fjords, where their naval bombings won´t be as useful.

2- Will mess up with their massed assaults, especially in the Badlands and Fjords, as they won´t be able to exploit weak points in our defenses before we correct them, or

3- Won´t be able to call helis for close air support or bombing runs at our artillery emplacements.

4- Less flexible battle plans. If anything goes wrong, they won´t be able to successfully improvise.

5- More effective soldiers under enemy lines, since their presence can´t be communicated as quickly.

6-Posibility of making they waste a turn by putting deploying additional trasnmitters a turn later.

7- We will be able to communicate all along, allowing us to concentrate our forces effectively

Xi-53 Li-Jiǎo Guàiwù Tank-Walker TB-53-01
-snip-

The second part, of course, is directed at the Piāoqiè guānsī. Experience gathered from fixing the Nogranian's walker are used to create the Xi-53 Li-Jiǎo Guàiwù following an extensive number of modifications. In contrast to the Piaoqie, the Guaiwu uses a X53XLAII-LJG1 turboshaft engine intended to reduce the space necessary to accommodate the engine, as it generates more power per tonne than the Piaoqie's diesel-powered internal combustion engine, shaving a lot of weight off the vehicle in the process, as well as improving the tank's overall mobility both due to the aforementioned weight reduction, as well as the more powerful powerplant driving it, while attempting to retain the same cost in terms of Oil. The legs' armor is increased, bringing it up to Light, and leg-shields are added as to provide cover for troops in the field, while work is also done as to allow the vehicle to both turn and move forwards at the same time. The end result should feature Medium frontal armor, should be armed with a much more capable armament for anti-tank duties, as well as in general being much more mobile, offsetting it's lower armor thickness on the sides and back compared to the enemy's Rhino. A coaxial spot is left for two 12.7 mm Emu machine gun derivatives, which are to be introduced at a later point in time. (hopefully the revision)

If design space permits it, the design should attempt to develop basic timed-fuse HE shells for anti-helicopter duties (for Qi-Chu mounted variants of the gun) and a basic HEAT shell to allow the high-velocity 75 mm gun to pack an even stronger punch, with no penetration fall-off.

Estimated Difficulty: Normal - to - Hard

Normal Difficulty: 3

The Xi-53 Li-Jiǎo Guàiwù Tank-Walker TB-53-01 is a variant of the Piāoqiè guānsī Hexapod Tank-Walker featuring improved armaments and armor.  The leg armor is improved to Light and expanded horizontally to cover troops using the vehicle for cover or simply hitching a ride.  The frontal glacis is bumped to Medium, leaving the rear and sides at a modest Light.  The cannon is swapped out for our high-velocity 75 mm Qingsuan and the coaxial and pintle mounts are re-opened for Emu-equivalent NMG's.  As an added bonus, we upgrade the gearing sequence to allow for the tank-walker to both turn and move at the same time, though the turning arc is pretty modest.  The engine compartment is redesigned for our X53XLAII-LJG1 turboshaft engine.  The turbroshaft engine is quite frankly a little over-powered for the Li-Jiǎo Guàiwù, allowing it to climb hills and travel over rough terrain without any appreciable drop in speed.  The engine could accommodate much heavier vehicles and higher speeds, but the base design of the Piāoqiè guānsī doesn't really allow for locomotion faster than what it currently has. The air intake for the turboshaft engine is rather open and vulnerable, and heat generation is a concern.

Designing new shell types is outside the scope of the design and tentative diagrams for HEAT and fused HE shells are shelved for the time being.  Current shell options are limited to solid shot and HE.  8 Ore, 3 Oil, 1 Cobalt.

pretty decent.
lets work out its flaws.
1. unprotected engine
2. heat development of engine
3. ammunition
4. speed
5. high cost

Okay, now that we have got a tank with an engine too powerful to be useful and not enough armor to make a difference, we should maybe be thinking on using our newly stolen Emus for something.

Dōngtiān láile Revision
After a tradition Toskesh fireworks display our designers noted in spite of our impressive use of explosives we still only have one type of warhead. In order to fix this three new warhead designs where drawn up. The first warhead to be worked on is a bog standard HEAT-DP which is nothing more then a HEAT round with a fragmentation jacket on it. Next off, if time permits HESH round are to be designed making for an extremely flexible round able to preform anti-infantry, anti-vehicle and anti-structure work. Finally if we are truly lucky Thermobaric warheads are to be designed able to cleanse anything carbon based from existence. All of the rounds above(if created) are able to be used on our 20mm grenades and up.

This is the proposed revision for this turn.

Normal Difficulty: 4

We manage to decomplexify the Emu, renaming it the Tūn NMG.  It fires 12.7 mm rounds instead of .50 caliber rounds.  A speed limiter is already built in, preventing the crank from turning faster than what it is possible for the gun to fire.

A "Bicycle" set up is rigged up for static positions, allowing the user to fire by pedaling and aim with their hands.  This completely eliminates the sway caused by cranking, though the gearing set up is a bit bulky and cumbersome.  The Pao does not have space for the bicycle setup, so the hand-cranked version is used instead.  The Qui-Chu can feature the hand crank variant with the artillery set-up, or forgo artillery for a bicycle setup.

The front of our Xiwang helicopters is modified to allow for the gunner to operate the bicycle set up, though it can be a bit tough to aim and the field of fire is predominantly straight-ahead.

A 20 mm variant might be best suited for a dedicated revision.  Different ammo types might be best suited for a batch design, or a revision for specific variants.  2 Ore.

We should really be thinking on voting. Either we try to get the Mountains, or we for the Fjords, as I believe that we are going full on for the Badlands to make use of our advantage there.

Mountains would be especially suited to our new walker, as well as our fancy Bycicle gun.
