I mean like, I haven't seen anybody in his area which could be clearly a woman, a couple of merchants and someone on a bridge are about as far as I can find, and they could totally be dudes still.

I think you're definetly wrong.

It's possible that some of the soldiers in the hallway could be women as they're too heavily clothed to determine gender and Abbadon doesn't do boob-plate as far as I can tell. Otherwise, the only women we've seen are those in the bazaar area and a few on the bridge.

Not in positions of power for one, or at least not at the palace. Or he could be like the Heterodyne family in Girl Genius where girl children are inexplictedly rare for some reason. However, given how prolific he apparently is (unless some of them aren't directly his sons or they're descendants of his blood), there should be some even if they're somehow rare.

I doubt that the apparent gender imbalance issue will be explained.

On tumblr, Abbadon said that SD uses mystic martial arts bullshit to prevent himself from having daughters, or from having more sons until the current crop have all died. I believe one of the anecdotes told about the Celestial Empire involved a prostitute being drafted after seeking parental rights over her son.

Sexism is certainly not a new topic for KSBD, though. On Throne, women are assumed as property unless plainly too badass to be someone's consort, and we need not recount the actions of Mottom's...predecessor. The whole plot point about the demiurges thinking Zaid is the Successor came from them assuming that Zoss must have accidentally given the key to Alison instead of him, because the Successor obviously has to be a man.

Come to think of it, Zoss probably chose a woman to be the Successor as yet another mockery and/or refutation of the demiurges.

There's quite a few female demiurges, though. Mottom may not have come into power independently, but it seems that she had supplanted Father Om before the war had ended. Maya's... Maya, although she may no longer count as a Demiurge on account of Incubus usurping her throne. However, if Abaddon is keeping her original design then she was pretty much a walking nightmare and probably one of the most dangerous person who existed until she got mortal'd. Jadis was one of the second strongest demiurge, until she got wrecked by witnessing the entirety of spacetime. Gog-Agog is straight up a matriarch of her weird worm people.
