I'd reckon that Meti simply taught them two different things - she taught Incubus how to be a sword, and Maya how to be a swordsman.

One thing I just noticed is that in the last three pages, Incubus doesn't take his hand off his sword for even a moment, while Maya uses a walking stick (hello YS-Het analogy) instead.

Well, swordswoman for that matter. Perhaps that's what's meant by Incubus being a master with the sword, but a terrible swordsman.

My bad, I forgot that you could include gender in the word and still have it make sense.

And yeah, I suspect it'll go exactly like how it did when Het fought the Centurion who appeared in Het and the Three Companions:

Quote
“Liars and criminals are not the same,” said Het, and struck the Sergeant a mighty blow across the chest. At that, the Centurion, who had been waiting to kill someone all morning, sprung forth with a lustful, sputtering cry and drew his sword. But although he far outmatched Het at skill with the sword, he was a very poor swordsman. He got a few good cuts in on Het, which she bore for the rest of her life, but she was filled with the terrible fires of Will, and he was not. The moment she got a good blow on his over-swollen sword hand, it was over. He whined like a dog as Het gave him a thorough beating.

“Kill me,” he begged, broken and bleeding, and cried piteously. It was the only thing he ever said to Het.

Het looked him over in pity, unbuckled her sword belt, and then threw it in the muck, for it was a killing weapon, unlike the stave. In this respect, Het was a very good swordswoman. She left the Centurion weeping and bade the dwellers teach him a more useful skill than killing. It was said he became a middling carpenter, but that’s a story for another time.

Maya's scarred and has no true sword in the present day, and has been using a stave for the last several pages of this flashback. Also, Het's big flaw as a fighter has always been noted as that she refuses to acknowledge the fact that she could kick anyone's ass if she really wanted to. Too meek and whatnot.

Inky definitely did not become a carpenter of any degree, however.

New one up: https://killsixbilliondemons.com/comic/king-of-swords-7-60/

Not sure if White Chain just sucks at poker or if the whole angel-armor-cracks-if-the-angel-lies is getting in the way.

Also, trouble incoming....

When to hold 'em, when to fold 'em.
Cio looks utterly defeated by the cold white flame's inability to gamble effectively.

Gambling is a peerless skill, which is why the gods were careful not to pass it down to created beings.

Until Aesma fucked up everything, as is her custom.

Interesting that Princess seems to be in fourth place. I guess being rebound doesn't keep one from remaining a bad gambler.

Come to think of it, new mask or not, it was kind of irresponsible to do this with somebody that lost everything to gambling in the past.

Being irresponsible is Alison's thing. You can't just take that away.

I wouldn’t count not expecting the key to somewhat nullify the effects of devil liquor as being a bad gambler, but here, yeah, Princess isn’t doing so great.

I wonder if the Gog Agog minion is there to give some sort of message or invitation or something rather than start trouble. It’s about time we start seeing what Gog Agog’s part in this chapter is going to be about.

You don't count knowing and dismissing the reality sundering power of YISUN incarnate as poor gambling? Not to mention going unbound instead of just taking the loss.

Reacting to the loss by violently killing yourself and unmasking the terrible power of your soul flame isn't bad gambling, but it might be a gambling problem.
