|Name|: Saint Bud's Boisterous Believers

|Faction type|: Cult

|Identity|: Saint Bud's Boisterous Believers are a humble, easygoing lot, and their dress conveys that. They have no set uniform, but in keeping with the legend of Saint Bud, they clothe themselves in denim overalls and the most devout men tend to shave their heads and go shirtless.

|Ideals|: They are a disorganized movement following the example that Bud, the long-dead patron saint of booze and good times, set in his selfless lifelong pursuit of making other people happy. Their Three Commandments are, 1) Mind your own business and treat others better than they deserve, the world will be a better place for it. 2) Nowadays good times are hard to come by, do your best to make 'em happen, and make people that much happier. 3) Never turn down a good drink, and more importantly, never let someone go home sober.

They seek to bring Bud's Light to the peoples of the Mojave Desert, and view getting people to lighten up a little as their holy mission. They compulsively search for and drink the ancient cans of Bud Light, believing them to be holy artifacts and the vivid hallucination their rotted contents bring to be holy visions, and believe professional brewing is one of the holiest callings someone can pursue. To them, the recreation of Bud Light's original recipe is the holy grail, and if need be, they would kill to get their hands on it.

|History|: In ancient times, mere months after the bombs fell, a man by the name of Bud, allegedly guided by Heaven, survived the initial devastation and stumbled upon a semi-truck, fully loaded with cans of bud light beer. Bud, searching the cab of the semi-truck, found a skeleton with a key around its neck, and putting the key into the ignition, found to his astonishment, that in spite of months of wear-and-tear, the semi-truck started without issue and drove perfectly.

Taking the unlooted semi-truck to be a sign from Heaven, Bud decided to travel the wasteland and dedicate his life to making life worth living, through the spread of booze and good times. He spent weeks traveling in the semi-truck, freely distributing canned beer to every survivor's encampment and proto-settlement who would take it, and when the semi-truck finally broke down and ran out of booze, he went ahead, built a wagon out of scrap, mounted a makeshift still on it, and kept going.

Bud traveled for years more, living off of what little he could scavenge and what little donations he received, and in spite of the horrors of the wastes, he persevered in his mission; to spread booze and good times to all the people of the wastes. Eventually, he met a bad end at the hands of a lucky bandit, but legend says he went out with a smile on his face, and in the wake of his death, his journey lived on in the form of those who decided to take up his mantle, and spread good times in spite of the bad.

Over the centuries, Bud's followers have morphed into a relatively benign cult-like organization and at some point, began to revere Bud as a holy prophet and the patron saint of booze and good times. They arrived to the Mojave little over a year ago, and while they're new to the region, rumours of Bud's Boisterous Believers have been around for much longer.

|Alignment & Disposition|: With their kind, humble demeanor and free booze, they're typically well-received in settlements across the wasteland, though the more prohibitionist and moralistic factions dislike them, viewing them as lazy godless degenerates.

|Name|: Brend's Mill
|Faction type|:Township

|Identity|: Most clothing is made for hard work in labor, either in the ore mills or out in the fields surrounding the town. Mill workers often wear heavy protective gear and any ceramics/hard to heat metals they can get their hands on. Fieldworkers prefer simpler, more 'western' clothing. Town militia and guard are split between the two, with a mix of heavier protective equipment and lighter leather and metal armor.

|Ideals|: Primarily a town of metal workers and farmers, Brend's Mill doesn't especially ascribe to any one set of ideals. As former NCR citizens most of the Millers value democracy and civil rights, taking pride in being able to vote for their mayors and bosses in the ore mills. They also in general value hard work and a good day's pay, their outlook perhaps a bit more rugged and industrial than the average NCR citizen in the Hub.

|History|: Brend's Mill was established by the eponymous Brend about 4 years ago, during the initial NCR push into the region. While initially established under the aegis of the NCR's colonizing project, problems with tribals and raiders quickly made the settlement functionally independent. Brend's Mill was established to take advantage of an old Pre-War ore processing plant in the area. The town grew up around the plant and would take ore in from outside sources, processing it into useable metal before taking and cut and sending the rest out for a good amount of caps. The town is split into an industrial heart of old brick and mortar buildings around the mill and a surrounding sea of wodden homesteads and farms. The town's militia patrols the out skirts and skirmishes with various raider groups and, more recently, Legion scouting parties.

|Alignment & Disposition|: Being a independent town, Brend's Mill doesn't have much of an 'alignment.' The townspeople's love of democracy and honest work for honest pay has made the town lean a bit more towards the good side of the neutral scale, though they do process ore and scrap given to them by less savory factions. The NCR still technically controls the town and occasionally sends a representative to check in, and in return Brend's Mill has made noises about rejoining the Republic in full if the NCR can stabilize the Mojave. Because of this Brend's Mill is a target for raiders, Legion and slavers; and support for those factions is low among the populace.

This is very good. We have so far three faction proposals for what will be played as in the CYOA. Until we straighten out the exact decision I'll answer Ardent's question:

-snip-

-snip-

So what you're saying is that, if we were to choose a Cult as our faction type, the beginning segment of the game would entail us slowly converting other factions from the inside and generally acting as a subversive sub-faction within the factions of the Mojave Wasteland, and the latter segment of the game would entail us converting enough followers to reach critical mass, upon which we explode in what amounts to a religious revival/holy war, depending on our philosophy?

Yes. Your correct on the first area of Cult, but slightly wrong on what Revelation will entail. Once a Cult reaches the set hidden critical mass(which I will determine) the Cult will have too many believers that it will reach wide-spread notoriety. There will be no immediate "holy wars" EDIT:(Unless you guys really choose so) since that will bring about the idea that the Cult is being a "Children of the Cathedral" copycat, which would be held in great disdain. Once it is revealed the the player Cult has reached supreme prominence, it would be important to establish a set homeland. I won't say anything else and let the playerbase learn for themselves if it is decided to be a Cult game.

I'll let the time shift to 11:40:00 forum time-wise and I'll start the game officially with Saint Bud's Boisterous Believers if there aren't any other decisions/votes.

This is perfect! Saint Bud's Believers will have stout headway in various Towns across Nevada. It will also be particularly easy to draw connections with major Caravan Houses and small-time runners since morale is always a must have to trek across the desolate wastes. This faction will also have superlative skill specialization in alcohol brewing. From the history of this Cult, it is has a reputation of slightly akin to the Followers of the Apocalypse. Most, if not all Wastelanders love your kind. [Shack] Towns, [Small] Towns, and [Modest] Towns easily recognize your common denim attire with ritually bald male members. Recruitment in these areas will be easy, but active concealment if needed would be difficult.

NCR used to remember your kind in its fledging status, but with it keeping so many tabs on differing entities within its borders, Saint Bud Believers are barely a remembrance. Caesar's Legion has no knowledge of the Cult, but like the Mormons he sees you as an Idealogical threat if Saint Bud were to rise in height. House is ambivalent, seeing your kind as out of whack hooligans.

Now that the faction has been decided, I will now set the location of where we arrive:

A three strong Brahmin lead Garron-Truck is tred on the broken creaked ancient asphalt. The Garron-Truck's roof long since upheaved and gone from centuries ago lets the solemn wind of the Wasteland be felt by all passengers in the Pre-War metal wagon. Centuries ago it was probably one those fuck-all-be-all vehicles that a man with a cohort of frat-boys would take to party the west-coast California. This is not far from its assumed original purpose atleast, since the Saint Bud's Boisterous Believers have claimed it. At the helm of this Brahmin driven truck is a withered looking elderly man with tattered dirt-brown overalls. He sports a massive grey beard ending into two twin braids. Scorch scars dot his left face. Anyone who reaches old age in this Wasteland is  known not to be fucked with. This man is Glenma Corrison, elder of this brood of Saint Bud Believers. This small brood of 8 men and 5 women who hold sacred the first actions of Prophet Bud insurmountable to their hearts.

Glenma Corrison treds the convey past the open fences of the NCR controlled Mojave Outpost. The entire area is bursting with tourists, prospectors, Outpost settlers, and NCR soldiers. After weeks of the relative silence on the I-15 with seeing few fellow travellers, the Saint Bud people peer in amazement from the long lost roof area at the vastness of all the strangers concentrated in one place so far outside NCR territory. Glenma Garrison barks a few attentive words, rousing the Saint Bud people back in the relative cover of the Garron. Even in a place as fortified as this..Shoots could go off at anytime, anywhere...

Seeing an open area free of other Brahmin so the Saint Bud's own Brahmin can graze, Glenma steers the Garron to a low traffic fenced place right next across two mighty statues. Even the wizened Glenma Corrison takes a contemplative visage of the scrap together depictions. Shaking it off, Senior Glenma has two Saint Bud men accompany him while he figures out where the check-in Officer is in this damn place is at. Before they even think to leave the Garron though, all Saint Bud adherants take various alcohol bottles from the array of compartments in the Garron.

"To the Prophet" Glenma starts first raising a whiskey. "To the Prophet" every Saint Bud adherant wails in unison. A hearty universal chug takes place in the Garron-Truck, presumably envying a Reno made-man.

Spoiler: Influence (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Reputation (click to show/hide)

Two of the Sharpshooters accompany Glenma as they attempt to navigate this sea of people as they mull over where to go.

There is no need for a rush, let's invite some friends over, get smashed and maybe trade some things.  We need a break after that long trip.

So I take it we cannot vote to essentially create a new version of the masters army? that would be fun.
