Any Funny Symbols Out There?
« on: December 19, 2017, 11:59:46 pm »

Just messing around in the symbol creator for my new fortress, an expedition into the benign wilds to subjugate the merpeople, commercialize the unicorns and bring sunshine to my dwarf brethren! This is what I came up with!

Anyone else come up with anything funny?

Can't wait for the ability to randomly generate symbols!

One of my dorfs likes dragons. So I commissioned a statue of a dragon burning 7 dwarves.

Also, my embark image usually is this:
"The Circle of Life"
is an image of an elf, purring maggots, and 7 dwarves.
The elf is dead. The purring maggots are devouring the elf. The 7 dwarves are laughing.

I like symbols that represent a dwarf's willingness to find some way to kill themselves. Currently,  "A dwarf, an oak tree, and an axe. The dwarf is hanging from the tree, the axe is mutilating the tree, the dwarf is laughing."

There is something to be said about, if the stakes are as high, maybe reconsider your certitudes. One has to be aggressively allistic to feel entitled to be able to trust. But it won't happen to me, my bit doesn't count etc etc... Just saying, after my recent experiences I couldn't trust the public if I wanted to. People got their risk assessment neurons rotten and replaced with game theory. Folks walk around like fat turkeys taunting the world to slaughter them.

I once had a goblin civilization whose symbol was a glass of juice (masterwork added such things for kobolds to drink.)

I like to build statues of the deceased in the tombs of dead fort members. I haven't done this for pets in the current fort, since I atom smashed them all so there's nothing to bury (side note: I really wish there were an option to forbid migrants from bringing pets with them. I'll trade for or capture all the animals I want, thanks).

However, in a previous fort in which I merely arranged accidents for them ("who pastured all the pets outside during siege season?"), I built them mini-tombs to make up for it. The statue I commissioned for the cats? "This is a masterful gabbro statue of 'The Name of the Image', by Urist McMason. 'The Name of the Image' depicts one thousand cats and a dwarf. The cats are laughing. The dwarf is weeping'.

My go-to group name lately has been "The Just Stop". I customize the symbol to be two animals (usually cats, dragons, or unicorns) looking offended.

I've always liked this one I designed for volcano embarks:
