Something I came across the other day, about engraved images.

Have you ever heard of the Pylos Combat Agate ? It's an artifact found by archaeologists working in Greece.

Look at the intricacy of the carving. And it's only a few centimetres across.

I thought it really gives some perspective on the detail of the engravings and decorations that might be possible in dwarf fortress.

Thanks for sharing that, that's fascinating! It gives a whole new meaning to a masterwork engraving. I know I for one am always fascinated by how sophisticated ancient cultures could be. As I understand it, human development is never as uniform or orderly as you (or at least as I) would expect, so you have these historic civilisations that seem so backwards in some ways, and so advanced in others. This is, in my opinion, a wonderful example of that.
