... aaand merry Christmas to you too, shadowdragon! Since you know this community, I guess you know what I have to say about the two replies before me: It was inevitable.

I, for one, was glad to see a christmas greeting on the forums. I wonder of we can make any special dwarf fortress project for x-mas....

Do dwarves celebrate Christmas?

well, some guys in another thread have encouraged to do some !!science!! on flaming ballista arrows, so I'm not sure if I will ACTUALLY get around to a Christmas project. I vaguely remember reading about a Christmas project on the wiki, but that might have been a more... macabre undertaking.

Q: What is Santa's wife called?
A: Mary Christmas ;)

Compliments of the season ;) Merry Christmas to those who celebrate it, and a healthy and happy new year to everybody else (those who are on the Gregorian calendar anyway, but I guess many still celebrate it) ;) (and like Grand Sage I am happy to see such a message on this forum).

Christmas project: I will embark in the high North of the map, on a frozen wasteland, and build a fort entirely devoted to toymaking. No other production is allowed, everything has to be imported. Elf visitors are encouraged to stay. The mayor will be dressed in red and white clothing, have his own throne room with a library (of who has been naughty or nice). Not sure how much "fun" this is - might try to improve things by some mulled wine (Glühwein) for myself or maybe even a small scale https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feuerzangenbowle...
On that note: is there a way to build a recipe for that inside DF?

I don't care. I have discovered that if you spawn elves this way, cats will chase them down and eat them.

Gunpowdertea, I only play unmodded DF, so I can't be sure, but it sounds like an easy mod to me. try searching the modding board on this forum, and if you can't find anything, just re-post the question there, they are much more likely to have an answer. And, if you get that fort done, give us some screenshots ;)

So Christmas project anyone?

Santa visits every single being on the planet overnight, knows what they are doing, and if they are naughty or nice.

The obvious next step, being that this is bay12, is how do we weaponize this?

Happy holidays for all of you! I hope you all get to spend time with the people you care about, have lots of food and drinks, and the warm of a home, even if is far from home. And if you don't have any family available then either find company with kind people or enjoy some peace of mind while you are alone.

Hugs and best wishes for everyone.

I'm curious as to how a tank would evolve. Would it climb out of the primordial ooze wiggling it's track-nubs, feeding on smaller jeeps before crawling onto the shore having evolved proper treds?
