Armwear

I would like to see armor for the arms specifically.

Actually, I would really like to know why that doesn't exist already. I mean, we have 2-3 different armor types for the legs, like greaves and leggings and chausses, but we do not have armguards (for lower arm specifically) or shoulderguards (guess which part of the arm they would protect ;) )

anyway, do tell if you know a reason why these are not implemented, or if you also would like to see these in one of the next releases.

PS: I want them mainly to be able to mimic my LARP unit in DF ;)

I beg to differ: refering to your picture, I can see two things:

A) there is no armwear catagory

B) combining leggings, high boots and a mail shirt, you could cover all ove your leg TWICE, Whilst w/out a mail shirt, it is still possible to cover the legs completely, but not the arms.

chain mail covers the shoulders, gauntlets cover the rest of the arm. there probably needs to be more for the arms, but that can come later

We can always add pauldrons for the shoulders/upper arms, and vambraces for the lower arms. (Personally, I've always thought there should be 2 kinds of gauntlets--those that extend back to cover the lower arm, and those that protect just the hand.)

And is that graphic that deathpunch posted WAY off, or do greaves actually protect the lower body??

It's straight from the wiki, so I'm guessing it's accurate (It's been there for a while)

Oh, that's interesting. That's the official graphic from the wiki. Actually, I just went on the wiki to check, and it is way more interesting than you probably thought yourself! Acording to the wiki, all leg-gear is actually worn on the lower body, and just have LBSTEP: MAX meaning they cover the rest of the leg. Makes perfect sense for trousers, since they are technically worn around the hip, but I guess toady ran into problems when he added greaves. That also explains why there is no armwear like I asked for  ;)

I imagine Toady will redo armor at some point to fix these things

I'm curious as to why shirts and coats cover the fingertips and toes.

They come with tiny shirts and coats to dress your digits.

It's obvious they've evolved past our primitive shirts and coats and are wearing snuggys and snuggy variations.

because fingers and toes aren't hands or feet

this doesn't really sound like an explanation, but that's the reason

That's so weird.
Well, just going to have to test it now. Off to the arena for some shirt wearing toe-chopping fun.

We need actual LEGWEAR too. There's a reason greaves cover the lower body: they're rooted to the lower body. They're basically metal pants.
