Since Baranwolf still hasn't healed yet, I sacrifice ten goods to Chalana Arroy's healing blessing.

And now he's fine.

Friggin' hill spirits refuse to go away.

Baranwolf: Propitiation of spirits is like a trade deal. Let me see what the spirit will give to us if we worship it.
Branbrig: Spirits are known to be peevish. We'll annoy it to no end if we quiz it as if it were a common vagabond.
Ferena: Perhaps a hill spirit would watch over us, causing marauders to lose their way.
Derik: Spirits can be good or bad. If it is good, it can offer us much.
Yorsar: Just like men, spirits can lie. I can determine the truth of its words.
Orlgandi: "When Harmast was fifteen, the shadow spoke to him."
Varmand: same as Ferena.

Considering how this went last time we messed with spirits, I'm going to test it before I do anything else.

Baranwolf says it speaks true, so we'll try a one-time sacrifice. I'm not annually sacrificing to it though, much rather have a real god then this thing.

We sacrifice 15 goods and befriend it, giving us three clan magic.

I make two carls into weaponthanes.

Not entirely sure what to do at this point, so I guess I'll sacrifice ten more to Orlanth.

We get woad, which is one of the two one's I wanted, the other being thunder.

You thought we could escape from them, but you were wrong! Also, this is the same clan we stole cattle from, so this may be a way to pay them back.

Baranwolf: Helping the Turtles will improve our relations with them.
Branbrig: Flamal is the god of vegetation. Some say he was married to Ernalda before she married Orlanth.
Ferena: This is the moment we've been waiting for. The final reckoning. The time when the elves all die!
Derik: Flamal, who as killed and then came back, loves elves more then us. If we harm the elves, our fertility could suffer.
Yorsar: We are not obligated to help.
Orlgandi: Conciliation is better then fighting.
Varmand: The elves are terrifying opponents. If we wish to fight them, the war party must be led by someone proficient at both combat and magic (Ferena or Varmand.)

Send a war party. If it asks us for someone to lead it, send Ferena since she's so enthusiastic about this. I wouldn't send less then 5 weaponthanes.

Gotta mess with the elves, clearly.

And... that's not really unexpected. None of our weaponthanes got killed though, so that's good.

I replaced Ferena with an Elmal worshiper, the other Vinga worshiper is too old.

As it turns out, we can build a shrine to Tarard Riel. I don't think the benefits good enough to get it at this time though. Maybe when we have more cows to throw around, but not now.

Since we've got a bit of downtime before sacred time, now seems like a good time to try for truesword. Honestly should've gotten this earlier, but I forgot about it. We could also try for Barntar's blessings, but I think we've got enough farming blessings.

Humankt gives us nothing.

A bunch of pilgrims during Storm Season? That doesn't sound suspicious at all!

Baranwolf: The Karandoli have annoyed us many times; the people will cheer us if we send these folk to annoy them.
Branbrig: Bag King Urgrain feasted strangers from Sorecer's Town, while his own subjects starved.
Vastyr: Send them to pester the Blue Spruces.
Derik: They are not traders, even if they worship Issaries.
Yorsar: They are outlaws. We can do anything to them we like.
Orlgandi: Issaries is the god of travel. These people have his wanderlust, but not his sense of fair dealing.
Varmand: We can easily run these ruffians off.

I'll be honest, this lot looks like a bunch of trollkin. They're not coming into my clan, have fun Karandoli.

That done, let's get try Humankt again.

We get battle luck. I suppose we'll build a shrine for him at some point, though truesword is what we really want.

Branbrig makes a good point here in that we need a woman on the clanring as our magic is weakened without one. The women of the clan have nowhere to channel their magic! So on top of the allotment of clan magic, should we reorganize the clan to get a woman, and who should we replace if we do?

Apparently, we screwed up badly by choosing Trolls as our ancestral enemy. I quote:

Troll lord From my experience, the absolute worst choice is the troll lord. Trolls are strong and in great number and already raid you often, having them as your ancestral foe means they pretty much attack you every dark season and sometimes on Storm season as well. You also risk the wrath of Cragspider who can literally destroy your clan singlehandedly.

Also, if you piss off the trolls too much, you can get the event Clan Destruction, which, and again, I quote:

Almost all of your weaponanthee die, half of your non combatants are killed or taken as slaves, your fortifications are destroyed, most of your livestock and goods and treasures are also stolen, most of your food and temples are also destroyed. Many clan ring members are killed, including maybe even your clan leader.

The guide writer mentions that if the Clan Destruction event triggers, you can get so screwed over by it that "you are basically worse off than having started a new game".

In other words, don't piss off the trolls. Which we did by selecting them as our ancestral enemy. WHOOPS.

Also, don't piss off the beastmen, because they can trigger the event as well. Or the dragons. Or the dwarves. Or the telemori. Or the berserkers (I'm a bit iffy on this one, as they were mentioned in one section but not another that dealt with the same topic). Or those ducks that we saw earlier, because although they can't trigger the event, they're besties with the beastmen, who can. Also, the ducks are apparently just really good allies in general, and can help a lot in efforts to repel the undead.

Also, if a two headed cow appears, we have too much chaos in our lands and we're about to get screwed over by Broos (there's a way to not get screwed over by Broos, but it requires killing all of your cattle in an event or having a really good magic score in said event).

Pro-tip: You can murder people to make more room in the potential ring candidate pool by sending them out on an "exploration mission" without an escort.

I've played this game before, so I don't really need it, and I would like people who are voting for this to vote with the information given so far, and not stuff from guides. A lot of the magic of this game is not knowing what will work, and what will not

Considering we've already got the blessings of our godtalkers, I decide to do nothing with this loser.

This doesn't seem like a hard choice.

Vastyr: After Oskul the Just slew Bad King Urgrain and took his throne, he gave gifts to all who had helped him. The Angry Clan spat upon his gifts, which led to war when there should have been peace.
Derik: Take the gifts, and trade for more cattle.
Yorsar: It would be generous to give them a reciprocal gift.
Inganna: Sorry, is this a trick question of some kind? Take the gifts!
Varmand: They give us gifts because they are weak. Refuse the gifts, then raid them honorably. This one just baffles me. Why raid our ally? There's so many other clans that are much weaker!

We take the gifts without further fuss.

And proceed to sacrifice them to Humankt getting us...

Guess we're going to make that shrine to Humankt earlier then I thought.

Time to test out our new god-bling on the Karandoli.

I give this dude fifteen because we'll easily make that back if this raid goes well.

And it works.

I'm not entirely sure on the exact circumstances all the tactics are useful for, but a quick glance of the manual gives me the impression that maneuver is the best one if it works. Let's just charge instead. As for the objective, well, I'd rather plunder then anything else here.

I might've used too much clan magic there, but I'd rather less clan magic then less warriors.

Since we've got loot and horses, I promote four more weaponsthanes.

And I send another tula expedition out.

Don't see much reason to deny this at this point in the game.

I send a caravan to establish a trade route with Heran.

We get turned back by the snow. Also, I have a feeling our explorers are dead since they've taken so long getting back.

I sacrifice to our ancestors so we can build a shrine to them.

And appropriately enough we get a bunch of Humankt worshipers.

Baranwolf: It is one thing to give away wealth, but another thing to give it away for nothing.
Branbrig: Eurmal said that Humankt was once a sword, but became Orlanth's brother. Humankt, offended, stuffed him in a barrel. Without food, Eurmal grew thin enough to squeeze through the barrel-slats.
Vastyr: Humankt was once Orlanth's brother, but severed his kinship ties in order to command the weapon called Death.
Derik: We can afford to be generous.
Yorsar: Humankti are known for their loathing of the undead, and sometimes for scorning those who do not share it.
Inganna: If we sacrifice to Humankt, they will be pleased.
Varmand: They are great warriors. We don't want them angry at us.

The two hero-quests we know are Orlanth and Aroka (which we've failed once) and The Making of the Storm Tribe. Baranwolf would probably be better for The Making of the Storm Tribe as I think it relies mostly on leadership (or at the very least can be carried by leadership.)

There are hero-quests for Elmal, Issaries, Lhankor Mhy, and Humankt that we could learn from sacrifice.  Besides those four, there's also ones for Chalana Arroy, Ernalda, and Uralda.
