Pretty sure you can't force them.

blarf.... that's dumb, eggs should totally be considered meat... I haven't fully tested it well enough yet, but I think if I make the parts of an egg [MEAT] that should work.... I think, anyone know if it would? I mean... it would be interesting to have fleshfungus crops, or bloodwood trees or something. like, literally growing meat.

Your method should work. Feel free to make a suggestion. It certainly won't be implemented any time soon though. Think 5-10 years, maybe even 20.
