So heres an Idea for a champion that I want to try and make next design phase.
The Grand Golemancer, King of the animation technique:
The Grand Golemancer is a being born of the inanimate, His body appearing to be a patchwork of many different types of material, most of which should be inanimate. His teeth are made of ice, His large humpback is covered in bark moss and stone, even as his skin takes on a silvery look. His beard is made of spun Glass and his hair is made from Strands upon strands of metals.
His entire hunched body, standing 15ft tall even with his prominent hunch, Seems to give off a fatherly, or even grandfatherly feeling to those that watch him work.
The Grand Golemancer hands appear large but are impossibly dexterous for the patchwork of materials which they appear to be.
His body is made out of Many, many inanimate materials. If a material has a solid form, then it is somewhere upon his large frame.
The Golemancer has One Spell. A spell of life, of animation, of creation.
The Golemancer is capable of creating golems, in any shape or size, given enough time and material, and bring them to life. A non-self-aware for of life true, and they are incapable of self-reproduction. But it is life all the same.
The Golems he can create can take the form of anything from a four-legged beast spun from solid ice to a Stone figure taller than an ent or anything that may catch his imagination, the forms of elves are a common sight in the Golemancer's rushed armies.
The Golemancer cannot create a truly sapient Golem, and the Golemancer cannot create something from nothing, there must be materials and that material must be Inanimate.
(Ice, stone, metal, dead flesh, dead wood. Just nothing that is currently alive. Like an angel, a living tree, grass. As such cannot be used as an attack spell (no making golems from their living troops ))
Lastly, the Golemancer can struggle to make golems that are too big, with the largest golem only being three times the size of an ent, and even then he can only truly make one at a time instead of the near armies he can create otherwise when working on a smaller creation, typically elf sized.
(Army creation unit. Foothold into golem magic and animation magic, more of a backline support unit. Unit spawner to provide more meat to an army )
Basically, the Idea is to create a champion that can make a large amount of cannon fodder from nothing using his animation spell.
The reason I want to start with a champion to make an animation spell is because I want to see if its more efficient to start big or small, basically whether its better to make a champion with a new ability and then shrink and refine it to more cost-effective but common forms, or if it better to make a small spell and then supercharge it.
The Grand Golemancer lets us create animation spells with a basis and we should be able to make animator spells, because Our primary elements right now is Nature, which is almost pretty much life magic already, and light which is another magic that is so associated with healing and Life that we should be able to make this work.
Thoughts? While champions are a big part of a budget, they can very very cost effective and have the strongest Abilities.
