I don't know if I voted for Cog or not, this thread keeps changing and I have the memory of a goldfish.... so... +1?
If you mouse-over the dotted underline of a vote tally, you can see all of the names.  So, +1 to goldfish :P

+1 for Whisperwhip!

Taupe reenacting Pacific Rim is one of the best things I've seen come out of this forum.
Hoping if we get it inducted he'll want to come back and play some more.

Votes added.  I have moved Archcrystal from Community Forts to Epic Forts since there isn't actually any community participation there, just a lot of praise.  Lastly, The Rise of the Fahstrom Clan / Geshud Osod, the Fortress of Bones has been moved from Active Community Forts to Finished/Abandoned ; last post was close to a year ago, all the images are on photobucket, now dead.  And with that, I have earned my beer for the week.

Not as much as the deadly dust and flesh-melting breath weapons that you burned your Dwarfs with.  You monster.

FoU has some twisted role ideas. Screw second-guessing this mechanical garbage spaghetti, I'm basing everything on reads and visible daytime behaviour.

Would you like to play a game of Mafia? The subforum is always open to new players.

Yeah, Ill throw in a vote for whisperwhip. Some of the storytelling is great, and it's also fun to watch someone learning the game and incorporating that into the narrative.

Since you're here, Taupe, something that's been bugging me more than it perhaps should: did you initially not realise that dorfs with flashing names, who often turned into blood-geysers, were on fire (rather than being infected with a mysteriously on-fire-like syndrome), or was that purely a narrative thing? I like the image of someone being all "yeah, I'm not worried about that dragon, I've got a fantastic immune sys-" WHOOMPH.*

Well, not like, but, y'know.

* "We're too late, doctor, he's got a burning fever", etc

I realised that... eventually.

Imagine, if you will, somebody facepalming and applauding simultaneously.

I call it faceplauding.

(In an old version of DF there was a bug where ranged dorfs were bugged such that they straight refused to do any target practice, and it was only by seeing the patch notes for the next release that I realised they were supposed to be able to shoot things from their crossbows, so, like, faceplause all round.)

Does Whisperwhip still exist somewhere, btw? Did FPS finally kill it, or did it hit that point of horrifying equilibrium where you'd have to actively try to knock it off?

I still have the save and some backups on an external drive. I just got burned from playing DF way too much. The fortress itself is ''stable'' in that I could probably seal it off from the world and have it flourish, but that's very out of characters for dwarves who's primary solution to invasions is to let the gates open and hope a dragon will burn the entire map before the enemy reaches our only soldier. The fps was ok, up until the point where a three-way massive war began between hell, my fort, and half a hundred forgotten beasts. You can be dutiful about dumping old clothes in lava, but somethings are hard to make up for.

Decided to read whisperwhip. Definitely worth immortalizing in this hall. Put a vote in for it for me.
