Galilieon Non-Linear Arc Rifle "Fist of the Northern Star"

The Fist of the Northern Star, or shortened to Polaris, is a re-patterned Arc Rifle, designed with the addition of "leader" bullets, rounds sent down range with a specialized material that vaporizes as it goes through the air, leaving a "trail" of electrically conductive material, which is then used as a corridor for the Polaris's main weapon, the Arc of lightning. By replacing the previous targeting system with a far simpler trail system, more power can be put through larger, more efficient coils for generating the electricity, which now uses Nickol-Cobalt laced materials for higher heat dispersion. In addition, efficient batteries are provided for the operators of the Polaris, which use several concepts generated from the Bio-Paste Reactor for an overall more power-dense system.

The intended design philosophy of the Polaris is an anti-armor weapon, rebuilt from the ground up for the modern systems that the enemy is deploying. By utilizing cutting-edge components and materials in the weapon, we expect the weapon to generate enough electrical charge at longer ranged to act in its purpose more effectively than previous designs.

also we painted it red so it is deadlier

Resubmitting as a missile revision with an all too accurate name:

"Red Mist" Fury Dispersal System: When the Red Mist descends...
Aratam engineers have worked day and night to concoct an aerosolized version of the "Fury" Combat drug as well as a way to deliver it. Based off of our "Red Skies" missiles, the "Red Mist" replaces an explosive or incendiary warhead with a specially designed canister that stores pressurized aerosol Fury. The missiles are designed to detonate over their targets in order to maximize the area affected by Fury. While inhaling or absorbing particulates through the skin will not have as intense an effect as injections, it should still be debilitating due to the contents of multiple warheads saturating the target area. Engineers also aim for the particulates to be fine enough to work it's way into openings in armor.

While we definitely have to get some anti-armor in here, their focus on their infantry armor has left them lagging in a few other fields, at least enough that we're still holding them off thanks to their lack of supporting equipment. If we came up with something that utilized these new ports in our dudes we could maximize the effect of this potent advancement. If we make our drugs cheaper we can deploy more drugged mens. Therefore I also submit:

The Refinery, Refined: We have had plenty of time to work on our chemical agents and have gained a massive amount of experience in the field. By optimizing our laboratories equipment and layout and applying our advanced knowledge to the various processes involved in chemical production we aim to increase the amount of Rare Chemicals produced by our chemical engineers.

Tesla Rifle Rod Manufacturing Improvement
Rod production flaws introduced during the forging process are resolved by switching to an alternative material, porcelain. These ceramic rods are then subjected to Metal Recombination to create a rod that is far more resilient to the heat and pressure experienced inside the chamber. The other parts of the chamber have also been redesigned to reduce charge leakage.

If you want better antimech weaponry and you're set on using electricity, reconsider voting for the rod improvement instead of the Northern star. It fixes the issues our current design has without changing the way the weapon operates, possibly adding complexity to the design, and therefore making it more difficult.

Oooooorrrrr you can be a cool guy and vote for the Red Mist, helping to further our lead in the artillery war and forcing them to react with countermeasures such as filtration masks and sealing their infantry armor, drawing focus away from our other projects so we have a whole turn of actions to devote to antiarmor.

I'd rather the second, not just because it's my proposal, but because our Tesla rifle has been unlucky for us so far, and it hasn't been very effective, at least as a good counter across the board. Designing a high powered sniper rifle system and using a revision to fix any issues if we have to would probably have better impact. Not to mention what would happen if a Goldeneye or SEEM is behind the scope...

An autocannon of some sort could also work well.

The turn after next, barring unforseen complications, should be devoted to building a backpack injection system for our Fury berserkers and a weapon for them to use. Them dudes been getting no love.

Adding a vote for the rod improvements,  but I want to keep the option of heckin sweet missiles open to anyone who might change their mind. Also doing this on a phone, so if someone could change the music box to have my vote only for God's Gonna Cut You Down I'd appreciate it.

Revision: Tesla Rifle Rod Manufacturing Improvement
(Easy) (1+2)+1 = 4: Below Average

Thanks to Metal Recombination, the tweaking with materials is surprisingly easy. Charge leakage is down significantly, as better materials can more efficiently store charge. The Lightning Rod chamber can withstand more heat, though still not enough to make Level 4 charges reliably safe for our soldiers. Though this better heat capacity does allow for better tolerance of some potential manufacturing flaws.

The decrease in charge leakage is enough so that our soldiers can have the rifle charged and ready when they're in dangerous situations, though they won't have it charged 24/7 and are still vulnerable to ambushes.
Our use of Metal Recombination in the process combined with our experience with manufacturing and maintaining the Tesla Rifle makes it easy to refine the production process enough to the point where we don't have to worry as much about defects, removing its Complexity and making the Tesla Rifle cheap.

The Combat Phase of Winter 1962 has begun. Voting on the challenge submission may continue until the combat report arrives.

You should really look to the wilderness for your stealth ideas, it has been doing it much longer than you have after all. Take squids for example, that ink trick works pretty well, and in water too! So you just sneak into the dam upsteam, dump several megatons of distressed squid into it, then break the dam. Boom, you suddenly have enough water-proof stealth for a whole city!
