HMKA-12 "Roc"

As the Osprey modernized our rifles, so too does the Roc modernize our autocannons, using a very similar coil assist system to propel a shell beyond the limits of gunpowder weaponry. The Roc is primarily designed to replace the Can Shredders used by our Raiders, but as the schematics are fully our own, it may see use as an emplacement weapon with little difficulty.

Edit: Wow, as described the batteries would have to be a sort of perpetual motion machine where the Synthoil powers an electromagnet which charges the Synthoil which powers etc. I think its good, wholesome mad science to build a battery like that.

Superconducting Magnetic Energy Storage (SMES) Battery

Our Synth-Oil "Batteries" are really just generators that run off of gasoline. When specially created Synth Oil Compounds immerses a set of alloyed copper coils along with several synth oil deprived compounds, the battery can be charged and discharged with a massive amount of electricity. A SMES battery can be neatly attached either directly to a  Gel-Matrix Reactor or off the main grid to charge it's own power up. These Batteries can range from the size of a coffee mug all the way up to the size of a car. Uniquely, a SMES Battery requires a Gel-matrix to fully charge due to the neutron immersion it requires for the coils to safely charge up, although it can be hooked up to a normal power source for around 80% of the capacity it would otherwise have. Due to the intensive experience in the relation of maintaining, creating and running the Matrix's, so that several systems can be hooked up to the Matrix itself to quickly and efficiently extinguish the reaction (The Radioactive material and some of the hot reactor components are dropped into lead box with cryogenically cooled chemical liquids  where they are rendered safe until the reactor is switched on, and the automated systems pick the dropped pieces up and slide them back to their designated places.)

The batteries themselves are expected to replace all current Synth-Oil systems in the field, and electricity will be used in the form of Synth-Oil to power our machines.

Okay.
It turns out, that we really really really really shouldn't expose the SynthOil compounds we created to copper. The result tends to be... explosive.

Not "military use" explosive. But "no more eyebrows and facility evacuation" explosive. The engineer leading the experimentation had to make use of the Bureau's CryoStat tank, and the underlings' injuries were deemed hospitalization-worthy. We tried a couple more times with different compounds, but several more "hair-on-fire" accidents later nothing of use came out of the thing.
We couldn't really progress in the project due to this little obstacle. The special compounds are required for our plans, and every one we've tried making so far has volatile reactions with numerous materials required for the rest of the batteries. SynthOil itself is fine, but when modified in the way we need to modify it...

Well, we have little to no progress made. We at least have some preliminary work into the rest of the battery and knowledge of what compounds to not try if we ever want another go at this.

Combat Report: Spring 1962

Mountains/Desert
We couldn't stall their advance thanks to the mountains prohibiting full armor deployment, but our generals are fairly confident that unless something changes, we'll be able to prevent further Mereth advancement in Summer.

The Plains
The victory here will be short-lived unless we can improve our forces in some way. Their bombardment abilities and our lack of effective anti-infantry will be at the forefront of our loss if we don't change something.

Systematic Elimination of the Entropic Mind

It has been a long, long time coming that we learn the very nature of SPICE.

Some may call the process by which our greatest assets are created as torture, or even barbaric, but the process is designed to be as non-invasive and holistically safe as possible to the personnel it is committed to, a far cry from its original implementation.

In short, Personnel chose from veteran lists and those who have not been previously exposed to SPICE in its flawed form are moved into a sensory deprivation chamber and kept there for 72 hours before the treatment is given. this is done to prime the soldier for the first set of treatments, and afterward, they are immediately moved to a specialized Cryostat-Tank where their minds altered state is cemented with a mixture of metal recombinators and a modified version of SPICE, that would normally kill a person with violent seizures and brain-related trauma. This process takes around a week and a half to a month, depending on the subjects mind. Instead of murdering the soldier who has not gone through the sensory deprivation, the process opens their inner self to the realm, the Astral Realm.

We know very little of the Astral, besides the fact that humanity had at one point accessed it long before, and then stopped accessing it until now. All living things have a signature in this realm, but it is frighteningly empty, and it is plainly terrifying to an unaccustomed mind as they constantly feel the raw horror of an unknown vacuum like pull. Golden-Eyes unknowingly tap into this realm and use it by detecting the minds of others to augment their reaction speeds. Those who go under SEEM Treatment experience this realm in its full through an 8th sense, and in some cases can supposedly manipulate it.

Those who undergo SEEM Treatment experience can sense all living on this plane that is nearby and can act accordingly in combat. To an untrained eye, the soldier will act against the opposition before they even commit to the action, this is similar to the Golden-eyes most advantageous ability. In addition, some soldiers display abilities to commit warfare against other living beings through this realm and have supposedly murdered multiple test subjects through "lancing" their presence in the realm with their minds. More testing is needed to confirm and reproduce this, however, as those who are not exposed to the SEEM Treatment have no way of knowing what goes on in the realm that SPICE opens up.

This process does not leave the individual in question unaffected mentally, however, as most often experience dramatic shifts in personality due to the mentally harrowing effects of sensory deprivation followed by hyper-intensive brain activity that we are only beginning to decipher. To an average person, a soldier (Or one particularly inquisitive NecroPolitician if the process proves even somewhat safe) that has undergone SEEM will exude an aura of utter eldritch disposition, and often cause flight-or-fight responses to lesser willed beings like animals or cowards of the state.

As an unrelated note, the signature of living beings often betrays information on the subject itself, although this information is limited due to our personnel's limited understanding of the signatures themselves.

Do we have flamethrowers yet? If not, it seems to me a synthoil flamethrower would be easy to do.
