There is a slight debacle between diplomats of the Republic; it seems that current Shotan of Anataya, Aymak V, is willing to sponsor construction of the Shotan temples in the port cities of the Republic, but there is slight opposition from more of more human-inclined council members. They turn to you, as always, to provide the final and decisive vote for this dispute.

The practices of Shotan religion include glorified slavery, religious sacrifices and self-mutilation, which is the point of contention, as no other religion is plain barbaric as the Shotan.

A) We would be hypocrites if we would preach tolerance and progressivity and then reject a cult simply because it is so different than others. And Aymak V is sponsoring them from his own pockets, that's even better for us.
B) There is tolerance, and there is allowing a barbaric religion upset the stomachs and hearts of the elegant and civilized peoples of the Republic. The Shotan won't have his temples here, sorry!

If we're allowing them in - which it seems we are - make sure that their freedom to practice their religious beliefs only extends to practicing them on fellow practitioners.

Of course. Tolerance only goes so far.

Yep. While your free to believe what you will and live the way your want to a part of tolerance is not forcing those things on others who don't believe what you do or want to live like you do. As long as it stays between them and doesn't forcefully affect others then it should fine.

What is the Shotan vision on other religions?

I mean, the only problem is if they force other into their religion, it's the case of the "free speech paradox" where tolerance on intolerance can be overcomed by intolerance
