"Hello, I am Wītega, ambassador of queen Rǣdend of the Lakami. I bear a warm welcome, invitation to an alliance, and instructions to assist in any issues you may be facing to show our good will. However, even if you do not wish to ally, we would like to remain your peaceful neighbours."
He awaits your response in silence.

After a hushed silence, a single man in a marine’s leather steps forth.
“We’re waiting to see what’s coming for us. If you want to hold spears, you’re welcome to. If you’re here to buy or sell, we have nothing of either to give. Try the merchant fleet up north.”

The magistrate, upon hearing everything, takes note, and heads up to the keep.
He goes over to the captain of the Guard, and asks him to send put patrols to get any information available about the crop failiures.

Ettad goes up to the man, and politely starts a conversation with him.
Why, ah, hello there lad. We don't often get adventurers sround here nowadays, we're too far out for the people sorting out troubles over in the Empire.
May I ask, are you alright? You seem to be looking for something. I could probably find whatever, or whoever, you're looking for if you wanted me to.

Rory, upon finding out that refugees are flooding the docks, goes briefly mental, before immediately asking what religion they follow. Before he gets his answer, however, he starts asking them questions.
What happened to you? Has somehting happened? Is there war happening? Has someone started a crusade? If so, I'm all for it.

Captain Scyldig smiles grimly, having been notified of the successful initial meeting with the people to the south. He slithers forwards to a reasonable distance to the speaker.
"We are not here for trade,  unfortunately. We are here to ask you to join with us in alliance. We come from the west,  having scryed the darkness that is just below that wall on the continent."
"Normally we would ignore it, being across the ocean, but we believe that it could spread across the world if left unopposed, and are almost certain that the continental nation is incapable of stopping it. "
"As such, we wish to ally, and hopefully to evacuate hour people from this island, as it is too close to the darkness to be safe, and given it's effects at long distances, you likely need to move for the sake of food."

Eheubryd was quite curios as to how these mages worked, although she figured it might be best not to inquire more about it and instead just try to figure out something on their own. Mostly because they might find something out their new allies didn't because they had a fresh and open mind to what might work. Although, she did recognize that such a thing would be much slower to accomplish without help, and could lead to nothing more then wasted time. Still, she pushed the thoughts to the back of her mind for now, as she still had a diplomat to speak to. "Interesting...I will gladly accept your offer of help in fighting the blight with your mages, even if it only helps in few locations to start with, its better then having no place safe from the plague. I will ask you to try and cure areas that have large concentrations of wildlife or people as to have the forest recover quicker once this is all over, or at least fought off temporarily. I do not believe we will be able to help with your navy, at least not at the moment, as we are far from a water born people, however it is nice to hear your people use the bow, and we might be able to help with training some in the art of using such a weapon."

Ka'uratazun considers what lies in front of her. It was unlikely that the treasure that may or may not have been stolen from her was already distributed among several cities, but the fact that there simply was treasure was enough to entice her anyway. The dragon would move towards the cities and take a good look at the people to see if they are the same kind of people who attempted to steal from her.

The Nekohlin leader returns to work. He took note of the fact that he was not receiving any updates regarding a lot of the things that he discussed in the past, and considers whether or not someone would need to be hired to keep track of it. He would also need to get on the case of the six ministers; or at least the courier who was supposed to deliver their reports. If there was another problem, he might need to start an investigation...

Given the relative incompetence of the Nekohlin mages, the Nekohlin leader decides to focus more on improving the actual designs of their weapons instead of war mages. Rather than attempting to emulate the gunpowder based weapons of Iomeer, the Nekohlin would attempt to improve on the designs they already had. Some artisans would be tasked with attempting to create a prototype weapon called a "Repeating Crossbow". This improvement on the standard crossbow design would move a new bolt into firing position automatically after a shot is fired. If successful, the Repeating Crossbow project would be one of the deadliest non-magical infantry weapons to ever have been made.

Speaking of investigations, it seems as though his suspicions about the forest to the north might have been accurate. A extremely thourough investigation would be ordered immediately. Given the severity, one third of the active Nekohlin military would be sent alongside the scouts and researchers to protect them and ensure that this investigation would not be interrupted by anything short of a dragon. The research team would be instructed to be careful so as to not to cause any destruction of a "non-inquisitive" nature. While the Nekohlin were there anyway, they would also be instructed to search for food. At least one mage would be instructed to join the investigation, with the goal of contacting a dryad to question them.

Speaking of Dragons, the fire dragon mentioned the name "Ka'uratazun". As far as dragons go, this was a pretty well known one. She was known for being massive, extremely un-subtle and uncharitable. Finding this particular dragon would be easy as far as dragon searching goes; all you have to do is follow the foot-shaped craters in the mountains. The hard part would be convincing her to go somewhere without offering her a substantial amount of gold. Even with an offering however, there were any number of things that could potentially go wrong. The fire dragon would be informed that we are "almost certain" that we will be able to locate the dragon that it seeks but we are less certain of our ability to convince it to go to a specific location at a specific time. The plan for finding the dragon would be to send out a large number of groups at the edge of eacother's visual range carrying a few large flags. When the dragon is located, the flags would be waved once by the spotter, twice by the group that witnesses the first signal and so on. In the meantime, the Minister of Learning would try asking the Fire Dragon about some things of importance.

The Nekohlin leader did not know anything about a person simply named "The Scholar", and he was not inclined to meet a random stranger shortly after a rather embarrasing incident where he handed an Ertanian trader an official document when he was under the impression that he was a diplomat. Someone with a more moderate level of authority would be sent to talk to "The Scholar" in his place.

((I think it's the Scholar who was supposed to be researching the blight. ))

The Lakami will send half the mages who had been constructing magic weapons to construct the barrier for the Llychlyn.

Sorry for the three weeks of painful waiting delay, I know Supernerd was starting to get worried. Life has just not let up for a while now.

Goltor
You spin a web in the fabric of reality, casting it wide to find disturbances, and you discover that a few dozen humans are travelling north through your territories. The woman who was with the Scholar and dragon has awoken, and south of a certain point your webs simply disintegrate. A great evil dwells there, blinding you to the south, although you feel something trying to keep it at bay magically, but it seems futile, as these elegantly woven spells disintegrate too.

Ka'uratazun
As you approach it becomes clear that these are not the thieves- These are significantly larger, have numerous tails, and are far more robust in build, but they have truly vast quantities of wealth. However, you can smell the musk of an old rival.

Lakami
The attempts to slow the darkness fail quickly, as the spells simply unweave as they approach it. It is apparently immune to direct attacks, at least at this distance.
The school of magecraft is significantly more successful, and the items produced by the apprentices aid your efforts greatly, but they tend to be weaker than those of the true Royal mages. It will be a fairly significant amount of time to see Royal mags arise from this school.

The creation of wards to protect the Llychlyn progresses quickly, and the mages flooding in seem much more actively accepted as theit enchantments show results. It seems they are making a great resurgance from the grave blight that had fallen across their nation. Although the project to produce magical arms for your militaries suffers from the sudden fall in the number of mages present.
You fail to teleport the ambassadors, but you send them on your fastest boat.

Qassatoughua
...

Ertane
The snake people have arrived for an alliance so they claim...

The scholar meets with your council, bearing a massive claw wound that is slowly leaking blood. His message is short and to the point, but it's contents herald the end of an era.
"Iomeer has fallen. The Todeslande has defeated them."
The council must decide how to proceed. If they tell the people, there might be panic. If they do not, how could they prepare to face this threat. And how to deal with the men currently preparing to sail to Iomeer to raid them?

The merchant fleet is trying to organise itself, but is split in two for whether they should stay with the Nekohlin, or leave again. A few also want to see how the city is faring, claiming that if it is not improved, they will simply leave again.

The Messenger
...

Nekohlin
Your smiths and engineers prove far more skilled than your mages, and quickly produce a prototype crossbow. While it has a relatively low poundage, it has a fairly significant fire rate, and the engineers claim that with more refinement the design will have a higher poundage, without sacrificing fire rate.

Botanically, the trees aren't extraordinary, being mundane trees, but it seems that enchantments have been worked into the wood by powerful mages. Your mages cannot identify beyond that without taking several trees to study, but that would be significantly more harmful than their mission states. However, the mages can identify that the enchantments are under a fairly large strain, as reality is attempting to pull free with a fairly large force.

Before your soldiers even leave Nekohlin territory, Ka'uratazun is spotted near a city. She seems to be observing the people living there, doubtless sizing up their wealth...

As your lieutenant meets with this Iomeeran scholar, you recline and relax, but are interrupted by the Lieutenant, leading the scholar in. He looks frightened, and the Scholar, blood still oozing from the massive claw wound in his shoulder. After the traditional greetings, he sits and plainly tells you the message he had brought.

"Iomeer has fallen. The Todeslande has defeated them."

Llychlyn
Some fishing ships are constructed, assisted by the designs of the Lakami, and some of them begin to bring in fish, but they seem to be affected by the blight too.

The 'mages' of the Lakami come, and quickly some areas are returning to the way they once were as their barrier becomes more complete.

Kai

Lizzy Kyro
...

Hammerstone
The adventurer replies ”I am looking for a scholar. Have any passed through here recently? Specifically one with blue eyes?”
Meanwhile, at the docks, one of the refugees steps forwards. “For the past while, Iomeer has been preparing at the border to attempt to fight the Todeslande, which has been expanding. They have lost… Iomeer has fallen.”

Stronkians
The ritual does seem to slightly affect the issues, but as you go south it becomes less and less effective. It will take some time for the others to reach the Nekohlin.

Eheubryd was a quite pleased with the work that the mages where doing, helping to fight off the blight on the woods that they lived in, which naturally would help with the issue of food. She however wasn't to happy about what happened at sea with only meager catches of fish being brought back, although she wouldn't stop them as every little bit counts. Regardless of this, she currently had two major goals for the kingdom that she though of as extremely important, these goals quite simply being building a proper army along with transport for them to support their current allies and to create a form of magic that they could use, or at least understand it.

The work on the military was something Eheubryd had help from one of the martial clans. Naturally, the army would be segregated to different ranks for people of different ages and skill. The youngest and newest would either be given a spear with some light clothing or a pine shield and an axe. Naturally, these lightly armed soldiers would mostly be used for ambushes at close range although they would be used on more major battlefields too if the need arsed. Once they proved themselves and where proper adults would always be given a bow and at least some arrows, with most being able to forgo their old spears and shields to simply go with the bow and a knife or in some cases axe. Although one could chose to have the bow as a secondary weapon, and instead arm themselves in leather and keep using the axe or spear. Naturally there was far more then this simple run down and much more would be added as work with Hetar improved, but for now the army was mostly a lightly armored force that favored range and mobility along with ambush tactics, in the future this would change as more weapons, armour, and other such things where made or gathered, but for now this would do. Once this was done and the ideas for a proper army set up, recruitment and construction of ships would begin, hopefully bringing in many willing to fight so that all lands may be safe from the blight.

Meanwhile, Eheubryd would be much more secretive about her other work, only getting help from a minor clan that mostly had scholars. Work to figure out how to make magic would commence and after a few days, Eheubryd would slightly change the direction due to a dream she believed was given to her by Fanw that showed words with power. Work to try and find a way to make magic apply to specific written words would naturally be slow due to the lack of knowledge on how magic works, but they would start out simple with trying to get single direct words to work like fire or glow. Ideas on maybe activating such things with spoken words also came to light, along with using them as wards to fight off the blight came up too, but those wouldn't be worked on until the fundamentals where laid out, if such a thing was even possible anyway. Still, part of the reason Eheubryd didn't inform anyone outside of the one clan was because she didn't want the Lakami to give advice, as she thought that their way of magic might be different from what she was working towards, and as such wouldn't work how she would like. Besides, having a fresh and open mind to how something might work or not could reveal things that never would have been thought possible by them.

(A combination of factors has greatly reduced my interest in this game. The ever-declining update speed causes me to disconnect from the land of Ealos between every turn, the lack of minister reports really cut back on the game's quality for me, the loss of Iomeer makes the future of this game seem hopeless and thus pointless as well, and I think that any meeting with Ka'uratazun and the Nekohlin would be too great of a conflict of interest for me to handle effectively. Worst of all: some of the actions I declare in my posts seem to get ignored.)
