Revision: Improved Transport Shuttles

The carrying capacity of our shuttles is fairly low. Using our increased understanding of ship design, thrusts, reactors, and just our general accumulated knowledge, we improve the carrying capacity of shuttles to transport more and heavier things.

Eh, I'd prefer it having a proper name, but yeah, baring a better idea, we will need this to deploy decently sized equipment.

I take it that's a vote? And I thought of a proper name. It's not a very good name, but it's a name.

---- Work in progress for later, please ignore ----
QS-SAS-00 'Peregrine'
Named for the fastest-diving Earth animal, the Space Assault Shuttle is built for one purpose, and one purpose only: Getting boots on the ground faster with better protection than anything else. The bottom is a light-armor heatshield for rapid reentry and the rest of the hull is composed of Light armor. Powered by one of the miniaturized Stardust reactors, it flies using an Apollo drive system, giving it massive lifting capability. It is equipped with Light-armored side doors, which take up most of the sides of the vessel. One of them can be faced towards the enemy to give a good amount of protection to debarking soldiers, should that be necessary. It will, ideally, be able to transport the APCs and tanks we will eventually possess. A final gift to give the enemy is the set of oversized, 30mm Hayks that are located in the nose (2 of them) and in a couple of lightweight turrets spread across the vessel.

-------------------

QS-RAS-00 'Dove'
Its peaceful name belying the weapons it carries to the battlefield, the Dove is built like a slightly upsized shuttle-craft, meant to be capable of transporting vehicles of at least 2TC faster than other vessels, by using one of the Loki Stardusts and a small Apollo system with (compared to interplanetary spacecraft) extremely limited, but composed entirely of heavy elements, fuel reserves. Together, the Stardust and Apollo provide incredible thrust, as all the power from the Stardust (Or as much as is safe) is fed through the Apollo system to maximize thrust and carrying capacity. Light titanium armor (With included Faraday shielding) make this ship capable of depositing armored vehicles to the surface very quickly and with solid protection. A pair of oversized, automatic, 30mm Hayks in the nose give it a two-way ticket to the ground and back, as well as a means to clear landing zones.

Well, if adding a Stardust and a Reactor would make it eat into the space battle budget, might as well make it usefulish yeah?

QS-RAS-00 'Dove' (Normal): (2+4)=6: Above Average
The Dove features many of the same components as the Loki. The reactor is basically the same, though the thrusters have been optimised for maximum up-goingness, and are less focused on manoeuvrability. The armour and armaments weren't much of a problem, though they do add weight.
The Dove's larger hold and greater thrust make it possible for her to carry loads of up to 3TC up to the ITC, or down to the surface. Her armour and armaments should let her drop into contested areas with little fear (compared to the ITCs regular shuttles).
A set of Doves adds 1SPP to the cost of an ITC. You may still deploy ITCs without Doves.

It is now the Tactics Phase of SY100. Please list all the ships you want to build and what you want those ships to do.
Units are automagically equipped with all Cheap and weightless equipment, and will use them sensibly (so will not use the X100 on worlds with an atmosphere, even though they have them available).

Three Odins, 9SPP
Two Inter Planetary Transports: 4 SPP
4 Fighters: 2 SPP

As for the 2 SPP left, I want that going towards making sure the ships we build have any tech that costs SPP that I can't see whilst hurriedly posting before I need to get ready for work.

Let's send the battleships as close to enemy planet as possible and block them.

Hm, so our ground production is wasted or there are some way to convert cheap into GPP?

As I expected we have good navy but our ground forces are way too modest for my tastes. Lets hope our enemy spent their turns on long term techs and industry improvements, too.

Not wasted if we make a pile of coilguns, I think.

Oh , I missed ground versions of coilguns. It changes things.

How many task forces should we form? I think going thin for 4 ICC is viable + escorts is viable

Yeah, we don't really have anything to spend GPP on until we start claiming planets, at which point we're likely to just drop Mjolnir emplacements on them to let us move the units elsewhere and not leave the planet completely undefended. But we need to have at least 50% control of a planet for that, so it doesn't help us attack.

Still, with the Dove allowing us to carry things up to 3 TC in our ITC, we can start work on heavy vehicles or whatever next turn.
Shame the gyrojets kept rolling poorly until the Hayk, that really set us back in the infantry equipment plan.
