REVISION:SPACE BORNE INDUSTRY

Simply put, our space-borne orbital presence around Ertex can be quaintly described as minimal.

By dedicating our engineering division towards creating the orbital infrastructure required to receive the mineral shipments and process them in orbit, our team has deigned to create several (very small) orbital facilities, each able to properly receive and fully process the minerals for continued transfers in orbit, slowing them down from their origin locations. These orbital "outposts" all feed to one centralized area, the L1 Ertexian-Mun Lagrange Point. Currently, this facility is a test-bed for mass-production in zero-G environments and is designed to facilitate orbital mass production, which we have began to fully realize through the mining Macrites built in fabricators.

Although the station does not significantly compare to Ertex-Bound industry, it's massive framework (and empty halls) allow it to be expanded to be either/or our first Shipyard, and/or the Fusion Forge as outlined in the previous design post by myself.

This revision creates receiving points for Macrites, which will send their processed resources to a centralized depot, where it will be either processed into equipment or sent down to the surface.

It will be very much visible to the enemy, and I doubt they will not attempt to mad-man counter it with patrol vessels.

let them. 2/2 with a cap of 6/6 is just the space around Ertex, I doubt they can patrol with any degree of effectiveness.

By the way, the additional 1/1 per planet captured is immediate, so this turn we have 3/3 more since we own a planet.

Revision: EAC-TML2 “Sarissa”
We’ve heard Quillus’ many complaints about using tactics nukes, so we shall address them. We will no longer be eliminating enemies via nuclear explosions. Like they asked.

Instead we will be killing them via nuclear-pumped lasers. We put some laser equipment and whatnot on the Sarissa warhead and use the nuclear energy to power a brief super-power laser burst before blowing apart.
Athena will be instructed accordingly - namely pointing the missile at the target and detonating early before impact. This should avoid our missiles entering PD range and even increase effective accuracy (as it just has to get vaguely close to the target then point at it rather than hitting the ground right next to the target directly.)
Remember, they asked for this.
TL;DR: Make the Sarissa a nuke-pumped laser instead of a regular nuke, for increased coolness factor, ability to detonate and hit enemies before entering PD range, better aiming (easier to get vaguely close to the target + point at them), and perhaps other stuff.

Revision: Athena Computronics
By revising our electronics, we can really help Athena-utilizing devices. Currently we run Athena on general-purpose computer systems - the so-called "Athena Nodes". But by using electronics dedicated to work with Athena (at the cost of not being viable for other things), the titular "Athena Computronics", instead of very wasteful general-use stuff, we can vastly increase the "bang for your buck" of Athena Nodes in terms of both size and expense. If small/cheap enough, we integrate Athena Nodes into some more general-use military items to allow for system-wide Athena coverage; even if the most basic form isn't particularly intelligent, it can still be useful for targeting data and whatnot.

Our ideal goals as intentional side effects of this revision are Commander-less Aegis droids, a generally smarter Athena ('cause more power = smarter), and the aforementioned system-wide coverage if the size and expense allows. But ultimately we're just shooting for getting the "more bang for your buck" in terms of Athena Nodes.
TL;DR: Revise the computing electronics used in Athena Nodes to be more purpose-built for Athena instead of general-use computers running Athena. Hopefully allowing us to get notably more "Athena power" at the same size/cost of before.

Revision: EAF-ACD2 "Aegis"
The ACD2 is a more... "competent", version of the Aegis.

General refinement of the servos and weapon manipulators using experience from both the original Aegis and Alke projects allows for droids to actually be able to walk correctly and to have much more precise aim in their weapons. They should also move in a way more recognizable to natural movement instead of a rigid "ADVANCE FORWARD 10 METERS, AIM AT TANK, FIRE"-type style of movement. Crouching, cover, hiding, running, etc.; So they should be more like competent soldiers rather than walking meatmetalshields.
Athena's ground combat modules are given a bit of "bookkeeping" to refine what she's learned thus far: things like "all droids coordinate fire on exact spot at Power Armor/tank and give spot in holoscopes of nearby humans", "ambushes", and more. Nothing too complex and it's not actually direct improvement of Athena. It's basically just running her through some basic sims to "apply what she's learned". Super minor focus.

Finally, each Aegis unit is given a randomized synthesized voice (just using the same/similar tech that Athena uses in Cuttlefish bridges) and random social "personality" (even though they're all controlled by Athena) to properly communicate and coordinate with meatbags their human comrades and to be more accepted as fellow soldiers by our troops.
TL;DR: Fix the servos/manipulators in the Aegis (using Aegis+Alke experience) to make them move much more naturally + be more precise/accurate in firing. Give Athena basic/quick lessons on ground combat beyond "shoot at them", and while we're at it give them randomized voices/fake "personalities" to make them more "comrade"-y + capable of communication/coordination to/with our human soldiers.

You should really look to the wilderness for your stealth ideas, it has been doing it much longer than you have after all. Take squids for example, that ink trick works pretty well, and in water too! So you just sneak into the dam upsteam, dump several megatons of distressed squid into it, then break the dam. Boom, you suddenly have enough water-proof stealth for a whole city!

We have TC available next turn, meaning we can profit from the Aegis upgrade.

So it turns out that we'd have to scrap the old ones and transport new Aegis units to get the effects of the revision, making any revisions for >0 PP designs very ineffective.

So instead:
Revision: Fabrication Macrites

We take Mining Macrites and refine their fabrication tools to the point of being able to construct things with relative precision and no noticeable flaws (not taking into account accumulative effects if the fabricated thing also is a Fabrication Macrite - this is just talking about 1st generation only). This comes at the cost of speed, all mining capability, and a lot of other things.

The new Fabrication Macrites are then thrown into the orbit of Ertex (or any other applicable planet) and used to run/help our space-based industry using materials shipped into orbit from Mining Macrites. Self-propagation is allowed, but artificial sterility is imposed when any further generations would begin having noticeable flaws in their fabrication equipment. While flawed Fabrites may still be able to make functional Cuttlefishes/whatever, we don't want Athena suddenly bluescreening in the middle of the battle or anything else like that.

We predict (though ultimately leave it up to the people that actually manage this) that Fabrites will be used to make large ship parts that are then pieced together via conventional means. So Fabrite #1 makes the Cuttlefish bridge, Fabrite #2 makes the reactor core/section/whatever, then they're - again - conventionally pieced together. Versus the old method (we think) of sending raw resources to the surface, turning them into many small parts - like individual Caduceus reactors - then sending them back up where they're all pieced together.
TL;DR: Replace the space used for mining tools/cargo/ore refining/etc. on Mining Macrites with more fabrication equipment then throw the result into orbit and use it for orbital industry.

Mining Macrites is a huge opportunity for this. All we need to do is sidegrade it from "50% mining 50% fabrication" to "100% fabrication" then throw the result into orbit and tell it to go wild with resources shipped into orbit.
It helps a lot (having industry in space == nice) but also capitalizes on Mining Macrites and the fact that Mining Macrites send shipments straight to orbit.

Pretty similar to Space Borne Industry (as in it gives us some semblance of an orbital industry) but it works off of existing concepts and leverages the insane opportunity Mining Macrites is giving us. They already are designed for fabrication. All we have to do is sidegrade them to be only for fabrication.

Laser accumulator cavity

This little device attached to our laser weapons has an important function: within it the laser beam can be reflected an enormous number of times with extremely little loss. This means that the output of the gun can be accumulated for an interval of time, up to seconds for lower power weapons, and released in a single burst. The most important application would be on the rifles, where rather than having to hit the same spot of the enemy power armor multiple times now our soldiers can use a single, more powerful shot.

I'd rather not jury-rig mining machines that fabricate more mining machines into part of our industrial power and instead just create the infrastructure to allow the Mining Macrites be used to their fullest.

We still wouldn't have large-scale construction resources to make bigger ships. Fabrication Macrites seem like they would be similar to a bunch of ants coming together to build a colony and then moving on. I'd rather have a centralized production area where inferior production equipment is not a problem nor anything stemming from "having a bunch of constructor ships across our entire orbit."

If this was to make repair ships, I would have been in support of the Macrites.

Space Industry creates centralized and defined points for us to improve our industry, more so then the Fabrication Macrites.
