Mech Card Battle 2 (GAME OVER - TRUCE)
« on: November 07, 2017, 06:08:09 am »

MECH CARD BATTLE 2
Your Machines. Your Choices. Your Fate!

Rules

Win and Lose Conditions
Will be specified in the game thread. Otherwise simply assume you must eliminate all opponents.

Joining the Fight
To play MCB you must construct your mech deck– 5 cards, 3 of which you get to design yourself. As long as they are reasonable and fun you can make anything. It will then be balanced by the number you get(1 to 4) and the quality of the other 2 cards.
Jump to the next post for instructions.

Drawing and Playing
You begin with 5 random cards from your deck of 20. You may play 1 card and discard any others. If you damage another mech you will draw 2 cards, otherwise 1. If your deck runs out your discard pile is shuffled as your renewed deck, this is referred to as 'Reloading'.

Blocking and Damage
You may assign a blocking card. If you take damage, this card is revealed and damaged, and goes into it's own 'damaged pile'. Otherwise a random card from your deck selected for this purpose. If your last copy of a card is damaged, your mech is destroyed. You may assign 1 blocking card for each opponent.

As your mech takes damage it may be destroyed. If you have 15 or more damage, you will roll the total, on a 15 or more your mech is destroyed.

Building Your Deck
1. Design Your Custom Cards
They should be composed in this editor.
 (Example)
Quote from: Card Format
Title: <Ability or Attack's Name>
Sub-title: Custom
Description:
<Type> <Damage:Accuracy>
<Card Effects>
<Flavor Text, Optional, If Room>
Style: Choose 'Fire' if it targets another mech. If not choose 'Quartz'.
Icons: <Use 1 to 5 lightning symbols depending on it's priority>

Type: Near OR Far if another mech is targeted. Self if only your mech is affected. Skip Damage and Accuracy if not relevant.

Damage: 1 to 5 attack strength.

Accuracy: 1 to 5 probability to hit another mech. There is always a 1/6 chance to miss them. Minimum.

Card Effects: A card can have many abilities you might imagine. However damage, accuracy, and priority cannot exceed 5. Or go below 1, if applicable.

2. Choose a common card family
A. Gatling: balanced, accuracy increased by extra discard
B. Missiles: High accuracy, damage increased by extra discard/Low priority
C. Lasers: High priority/Low damage but increased by extra discard
D. Ram: High all around, damage increased by extra discard/Minor non-leathal self-damage

3. PM your cards
You may assign 5 points as desired among your common and custom cards; up to 2 on a single card. The more you assign to a custom card, the more generously the amount you get will be balanced. The more you assign to the common card family, the better quality you may receive. Think of these as suggestions: powerful cards will still be strictly limited.

Sounds rather fun. What degree of control will we have over the battles? As in, something like

1. [Attack]

2. [Defend]

3. [Dodge]

With several moves for each category?

That would be the Mexican Standoff route...

I could do more... abilities, extra limbs, ect... If it would be more fun.

So MS works like this:

Attack: what is says on the tin.
Dodge: predict who will attack you, and counter. If wrong waste energy.
Defend: do nothing.

Added poll. Will do some testing with 2+ players and let it snow all from there.

OH, then I'm not picking MS.

OK, so how about you create a deck...

You have 5 unique cards. The weaker the powers, the more you get, up to 4 copies. (I decide how many you get when I rate their power)

Stats include:

Priority
Damage
Accuracy

And... Any other stat you feel is relevant. Stats can be 1 to 5 stars...

The card can of course have unique traits, and can be defensive or other types. It can reference other cards.

PM a deck.

Sent a deck. It has a little gimmick, but I won't give it away to other people.

If we're going to add a map then cards should probably have a range stat as well.
