The Effects of duplicate RAW Files
« on: November 03, 2017, 12:45:53 pm »

The following is a collection of various data I collected during my experiments with duplicate RAWs.
World name: Urubtar
Files duplicated: other creatures file and hydra RAWs
Vermin present: Yes
Crashes: legends; sometime
Adventure; crashes
Dwarf/dragon mode; upon embark I found minotaur hair walls, it also turns out that dragons in fort mode are treated as pets, which causes the fort to instantly crumble to its end
Effects: Drivenstrength the large rat became an enemy of every civilization, he also killed 19 bronze colossuses, lived for 154 years.
Satyrs apparently exist, several of them were killed by Drivenstrength. They appear to have swapped with the elves.
Giants swapped with a sapient race. Dragons did as well. Cyclops (kobolds) and colossuses too.
Hydras are the same. Fairies are megabeasts apparently. Titans and forgotten beasts are the same. Demons on the surface are a mix of titans and FBs, some are normal. Bogeymen are historical now, some are civilized. Gods are newly sapient races and insects.
Hypothesis: bronze colossuses swapped with some sapient race. confirmed one became a tavern keeper.
Race swap chart
Cyclops-kobolds
Bronze Colossuses-elves
Dragons-dwarves
Giants-goblins
Satyrs-humans

Arena tests
Nothing changes

test on effect with seeds
duplicate RAWs caused two generated worlds to have different maps. Which in turn means they are not the same world despite being generated with the same seeds. The RAWs are consistent with their changes between generated worlds. Dragons were still dwarves in both new worlds.

Test idea: add playable to dragon RAWs to test effect on fort mode. Doesn’t work, the fort still crumbles

Small river lake has been cleared of vermin
World name: tar sereth
Vermin present: no. I gave them body plans
Race swap chart
Trolls-kobolds
Elf-dwarf
Gremlin-goblins
Goblin-humans
Kobolds-elf
Conclusion: RAW changes affect what swaps with what
Dwarf/elf mode: it works. Didn’t find any strange things but I did embark on a volcano.
Adventure mode: randomly crashed while traveling
Conclusion: this world is boring

World name: Ramul Alu
Vermin present: same as above
NOTE: several duplicate RAWs have been added
Race swap chart
Unicorn-kobolds
Goblin-dwarfs
Ogres-goblins
Trolls-elves
Gremlins-humans
Fort mode test: works fine

World name: Boksmata
Race swap chart
Dragons-Kobolds
Ogres-elves
Trolls-humans
unicorn-goblins (First dark fortress in legends crashes game)
Gremlins-dwarfs
Fort mode: embark on volcano crashes. Doesn’t work
Adventure mode: gives me the option to play as a human, likely as a wanderer. Also lets me pick forgotten beasts, this crashes the game.
Forgotten beasts: can’t be bothered to dredge through legends
Conclusion: this RAW set is useless for playing in

Huh. I wonder what's causing this. In my experience, hacking the executable (thank Armok for creature variations) to give FBs the OUTSIDER_CONTROLLABLE tag works just fine.
