Got a good world for you all
« on: February 15, 2007, 11:16:00 am »

Was generating worlds looking for some nice deadly locations, came up with a nice one. This is generated on the most recent version, who knows how it'll stand up when the next version is released, but for now, enjoy!

A preview:

(And one nice peaceful one, for those who prefer it that way. Also a couple of desert/glacier maps, with contact to all civs, for those who like treeless games).

The world map

It's pristine, no settlements made, no adventurers. I'm keeping a backup copy in addition to the one I'm actually building a fort in.

Enjoy!

That "peaceful" tropical forest?
You mean the one that almost certianly has both Elephants and unicorns?

...

Actually, I was about to start a new fortress anyway...

Sadly, there does not yet seem to be a way to have a map with zombie unicorns and skeletal elephants.

"The Hairy Tower"...

yeah, that one's going on my "weird starting location names" list.

Excellent map gen, though.

I cant seem to get this world to work. I downloaded, unzipped it, then placed the files in my data/save folder under region4 folder and region4 data file. For some reason it does not show up when I try go to world selection. What is the name of the world, maybe its on there but I cant see it (from having a few to choose from),

I believe that since it was generated as region1, it may have to remain region1. I am not sure, though, since I don't try to run more than one world simultaneously.

>_>

What happened to the "Old" Forever-Points?

And if they really last forever, how'd they disappear?

The Old Forever-Points are the New Forever-Points.  The Council of Mountain Nomenclature renamed them in 1047.  It's just a trap to lure in tourists and fortress settlers.  I mean, what dwarf in his/her right mind is going to build a fortress at an antarctic, rocky wasteland inhabited by terrifying creatures called the "Old" Forever-Points?

This behavior will happen if the region was generated with a newer version of DF than you are running.  Check that you have the most recent version.
