Battle Report 14, 1903This year is a great one, we have made the greatest weapon that flies high in the sky, the best flying weapon on the world. The
Aseskara-Class Aeroredoubt AD0X ssh.I, a zeppelin that is armored and armed, although it was made larger then we originally wanted due to helium not actually keeping the thing in the air as well as hydrogen, although its safer and that more then pays for the extra costs. It should be noted Amunet Serq payed a lot of money for the design, its suspected she is planning on expanding her transport business and designing something else with it, it also should be noted a German count named Ferdinand seemed to be very interested in our work as well. Despite the extreme innovation that was made in the Aseskara, we wheren't done yet and made the
Marthad Mark II T2GPT/MSB-03V8 General Purpose Truck! Made using our experience with engines and what we learned from the armored chariot we worked on. Its a hardy off road truck that can bring supplies and troops to the front without the need of rails, and cuts down time a bit easier as well.
The Invaders from the north, meanwhile, worked on something known as the
Duuguur 8cm mortar, which is basically a miniature two man artillery to be more effective then their normal artillery, which usually reduced into smoldering craters most of the time by our own, longer range artillery. Still, due to its highly mobile nature, its not exactly something our own artillery can counter, but our men know how to take them out easily enough by just shooting the one who is using the thing. They also decided that they don't like our armored chariots, and made the
Suirel Anti-Armor Rifle, which also works as a high powered long range sniper rifle. It is able to punch through the armour of our chariots, although it is only single shot it is quite mobile, due to being able to be strapped onto the sidecar in place of a machine gun on one of those bikes the Kari's love so much...
Battle Report, Naval Combat: The introduction of Airships has changed some things about combat in the sea. As it turns out, our bombs are quite hard hitting and will disable if not sink one of the ships the Kari's have. In fact, we believe their captains are actually afraid of our airships, seeing how a few months after operations started, their ships seem to start going at full speed away from us and even tried firing their main guns at our Aseskara's. Operations at sea for our combat airships are usually just to simply fly over the enemy ship, go at their speed, and then simply drop the bombs on the target before flying off to the next ship or resupply. It should be noted our estimations make us believe it will be able to sink two to three of their ships if the bombs are dropped accurately. Some times, they are assigned to fly with our main ships where they are very useful in protection, just due to their fear value, and the cargo versions are useful in supplying our soldiers.
Despite this however, the Karikhitans still have a advantage at sea, although there aren't enough airships to reduce it to minor.Battle Report, Mountains. Attackers, Karikhita: The new miniature artillery peace known as the Duuguur is quite efferent at what it does, especially when that thing happens to be causing avalanches to crush our soldiers. The majority of the soldiers manning this front where battle hardened veterans for their years of fighting here and pushing the Karikhitan's back, but the fighting this year made most of the spots they once filled replaced with new soldiers from back home. Our soldiers where forced in a hard fight from this, especially the ones manning the revolver repeater machineguns or the Sekhmets who had to abandon their guns or where crushed. Our men with rifles had a easier time in comparison, although easy is a bit of a stretch since while they still had the ability to shoot, they had to dodge rockfall after rockfall caused by Karikhitan Duuguur. Still, in a straight up firefight, our men fared better, sans the aforementioned mortar. It should be noted however that the Karikhitans actually used their anti tank rifles against our soldiers at times, usually at very long range, and that despite the sounds of it, we didn't actually lose the fight here, but we almost did. Luckily, while a major force of ours was retreating and in disarray, the Karikhitans perused only to be stopped thanks to an airship, which dropped bombs and buried their force in rubble like they had been doing to us for the past few months. This gave our soldiers time to regroup and strike back against the attacking force which had its spearhead broken,
due to this we where able to fight back the Karikhitans with help from two other airships, and quite simply, we grabbed victory from the jaws of defeat.[Nafuna 4/4, Karikhita 0/4]Battle Report, Hills. Attackers, Nafuna: The battle here proves to be a true meatgrinder for our soldiers and theirs. Our artillery is still soundly smashing them to bits, but their new mortar is helping pick up where the Kari's lack in big guns, and its no less deadly then any of their old indirect fire weapons when they hit inside a trench. Our armored chariots also suffer, not only due to them having the occasional mortar hit damage them, but due to the anti armor rifle the Karikhitan's produced which is able to reliably punch through are armor and damage the engine or knock out the crew before getting away due to being mounted on the Karikhitan's bikes. Still, the truck we made allows soldiers to reach the front in greater numbers then ever before allowing us to fill in gaps in the lines quickly and efficiently before the Karikhitians are able to regroup and attack where we are weakest. Our airships do help in major battles, especially against stationary targets and soldiers without bikes, acting as a somewhat more accurate artillery, but they aren't too much help overall on the front line here due to the limited numbers, however that's not to say they aren't good when moved past the line. They are able to delay or destroy groups of Karikhitans that aren't on the move along with any convoy of trucks fairly reliably, this is mostly due to the amount of bombs the airship has, and it can get close to the ground and unleash its firepower on the ground if the captain wants to get up close and personal. It should be noted the few times that this has happened, the ship has returned with minor damage thanks to the anti tank rifle, occasionally this minor damage is not so minor as the ship suffers heavily from the loss of helium due to its weight but the fire used against it isn't enough to take it down yet. It would probably not suffer from this issue if we used hydrogen but that probably wouldn't be much better...
Still, after a harsh battle, we find we are unable to break the Karikhitan's lines, leading to a stalemate once more. [Nafuna 0/4, Karikhita 4/4]Battle Report, Swamps. Attackers, Nafuna, Karikhita: As one might expect, things don't go very well for us here. We barely pushed them back last time, however, that doesn't mean we can't hold them back, in fact the generals didn't really order our soldiers to advance much, knowing this would be more of a defensive fight then anything else. Moving on, their mortar is used here like everywhere else, and it is a bane to our troops, especially when you have an easier time finding the mortar then you do the men, who occasionally leave the things out as traps for our soldiers, which worked the first couple of times until we turned it around on them. Our truck is useful here as one would expect, as its able to transport troops through some of the swamp, but the particularly muddy bits of this place are able to entrap the truck like anything else heavy. The airships, meanwhile, didn't do much at all here due to the camouflage they have and how thick the foliage here is compared to everywhere else we are fighting and where quickly moved elsewhere. Our guns however, especially our PMG, still are better then their own, and the second we actually spot them they generally start running for good reason, but the issue is actually finding them, and with that mortar, well, it makes a big difference.
Sadly, for the Karikhitans, our guns are just enough to prevent them from actually pushing us out, sadly for us, they do a superb job in stopping us from advancing, not that they really had to try too hard to do so as we barely held the line. [Nafuna 1/4, Karikhita 3/4]Outside world and Internal affairs: The way to fully industrializing has become closer and closer, almost within reach, and the new transportation available to all has allowed the expansion of the mines in the Savannah to be mined out, and Amunet has expanded her business a bit too. In other news, the first regular transatlantic radio broadcast between US & England happens early in the year. The Sokoto Caliphate in northern Nigeria falls and the British claim supremacy of over five hundred thousand square miles. Richard Pearse flies a monoplane several hundred yards in New Zealand. King Edward VII of Great Britain visits Paris, where he is feted in a first step toward improving Anglo-French relations. Ford Motors under Henry Ford incorporates and the Pepsi Cola company forms. The first Tour de France race is won by Maurice Garin of France. The Japanese Minister to Russia presents a note to the Russian Government protesting against its failure to evacuate Manchuria and later, Russia, in violation of their promise to evacuate Manchuria, reoccupies Mukden and reinforce their troops in Manchuria. And the Wright Brothers make the first sustained motorized aircraft flight, piloted by Orville Wright at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina.
Khopesh, A classic short sword design we have not forgotten even after all these years, the major difference between it and the original is the use of steel instead of iron or bronze and it is much sharper then what we had before. Costs 1 Ore-Cheep
1891 Nafuni Soldier Uniform Standardization, A standardization of our soldiers equipment and outfit. It protects them quite a bit and it also allows those equipped with Thoth mk 1's to have more ammo then they would have otherwise. The boots help in the mountains and swamps, and the helm protects against arrows. -Cheap
Asimov Artillery Shell, A explosive shell made by another immigrant, this time from Arstotzka. The shell is explosive on impact, or when set to a different range, which can lead it to exploding after it hits the ground or before it does. It is extremely effective on concentrations of soldiers and ships. Cheap
Reseph-Vizier Series 2 Service Rifle Model 1900, A bolt action rifle that includes the ability to mount a scope. It is accurate and powerful even at long ranges when in the hands of someone skilled and it fires slightly faster then the Karikhitans own rifle. Cheap
Reseph-Vizier S1SSR 8x1.26' Scope, A scope for the Reseph-Vizier. It is exclusively used by skirmisher squads who shoot from afar. It is extremely helpful in aiming long range shots and can allow eagle eyes shoot at targets from even longer ranges. Cheap
Carrera Series 3 Model 2 Rapid Repeater Revolver, The first Rapid Repeater gun in the war, this heavy and fast firing monster is extremely useful against the Karikhitan advance, and with it we have decided to shift our tactics to a bit more of a defensive stance. After all, we are the defenders in this war. Costs 2 ore, -Complex, Expensive.
Sekhmet 1.6-inch Revolver Cannon, A heavy and hard to move emplacement that is able to penetrate cover quite well and honestly is a bit overkill. Its also a bit faster firing then our Rapid Repeater and is a very very good defensive emplacement, although its mobility is quite bad. It includes a shield to protect the gunner Costs 3 ore, -Cheap.
QF Tauret Field Artillery Piece model 1898, The fruits of Project Hippo's labor. A heavy hitting fast firing artillery that has range long enough to be able to properly use indirect fire, so long as someone uses the new flares we made. Costs, 3 ore, -Cheap
Sobek class Nushunefu, Our first and best Ironclad, armoured with 4 inches of iron and armed with four Tauret's and 12 Djer-Khenthap's, one would expect such a ship would be slow, but that is not the case at all! It is fairly fast and goes at about 14 knots at max speed. Costs 3 Ore, 2 Wood -Complex Expensive
Markata 2-8-4 Steam Locomotive Series-A model 1899, The first train ever to be used and made on Janal, it helps us with our transport and our industry.
Cheops Personal Machine Gun Model 1901, A hand held machine gun that has been fixed of its flaws making it a reliable and good gun at close range.
Toth Type Observational Balloon, A observation balloon that gives us some nice help in spotting things from high in the air. It is fairly stable and is able to make our arty fire from further away while still not firing blindly and inefficiently.
Tos-Mori Truck, Its a truck that was, ahtem, acquired and has been brought back to be studied thoroughly, it is not as fast as our train and cant carry as much but there is plenty of potential in this thing for future designs and even current use. Costs 2 ore 1 oil
Kadesh Armored Mechanical Chariot, A simple and effective armored car with light armour. It has a machine gun and one of our nice Sekhmet cannons. Costs 2 ore 2 oil, -Now cheap
Carrera 'Vera' Series 1 Model 2 Self Loading Light Battle Rifle, A semi automatic rifle that is no longer a buggy mess, it is useful rifle that is a bit faster firing then our current main rifle, but most of our soldiers prefer the good old bolt action.
Aseskara-Class Aeroredoubt AD0X ssh.I, A large and fairly fast airship that has far more machineguns then it ever would need on top of cannons to be just that more powerful. On top of this, the bottom is armoured, and it has room for thirty five bombs. Seems to do poorly when damaged due to its weight... A cargo version also exists. Costs 5 Ore, 3 Oil, Complex- Very Expensive. Gives 1 TC
Marthad Mark II T2GPT/MSB-03V8 General Purpose Truck, A large truck good for going off road and for handling terrain that other vehicles would struggle in, along with having a powerful engine to top it all off. Costs 2 ore, 2 oil, Cheap. Gives 2 TC
Mongol Sabre, A old sword design that has served us well even after all these years, It can be used on horseback just as well as it can be used on foot. Costs 1 Ore -Cheap
SS Yalagdashgui, Its a large ship armed with the Karikhitans Ayanga. Its slow but hard to damage except at 5000 yards. It is powered by steam.
Burgud Infantry Rifle, Karikhitans infantry rifle, it is able to fire multiple shots without reloading and uses smokeless powder like our own rifle. Other then that its a bolt action rifle.
Luu-Class Cruiser, A light and fast Ironclad that, theoretically could stay afloat in a fight with our own, if it actually got into a fight and didn't just sail away from us.
Algasahk Rifle Scope, A rifle scope we know little about. It looks kinda like a spyglass though.
Shuurga LMG, A light Machinegun that is in all likelihood better then ours. It appears to load faster and heat up slower, along with the whole very light thing.
Osolt HE TNT, A explosive shell like our old one, filled with TNT and makes a nice big boom, sometimes it doesn't though.
Ayanga QF-12cm L40, A new 120 mm of gun that is used by the Karikhitans on their ships and on the ground. On the ground there is a scary amount of them, so many they just keep coming...
Tos-Mori Truck, a truck powered by a W3L-Mk1 Engine. We managed to acquire one thanks to a particular ex engineer of the Khan...
Mogoi Torpedo, A explosive that propels itself beneath the waves of the ocean to strike at our ships. A single hit is deady and can sink our ships and will at very least cause major damage if it hits.
Yavakh Motorcycle, A very fast motorcycle that can be equipped with a sidecar, is being used like the horses of old, with the issue of being flat out better then horses.
Daldlakh Infantry Uniform, Replacing their long outdated uniform, the Karikhitans made this new one, which offers better head protection, camouflage, and makes their officers and NCO's much harder to spot unless you look at them from behind.
Duuguur 8cm mortar, A small and efficient artillery like weapon that is simply effective at being the bane of most of our soldiers existence. It makes up for the Karikhitans current lack of any real artillery and then some due to how it can be used in more locations then their old artillery even can.
Suirel Anti-Armor Rifle, If the Duuguur is the bane of our ground troops existence, the Suirel is the bane of our Charioteers existence. Able to punch through our chariots armour and knock out its engine or hit the crew, it is a simple pain. It also is rarely used as a sniper weapon and can be placed on their bikes sidecar in place of a machine gun.
Since some people asked for it.
