Battle Report 10, 1899Over the year we have confirmed that we truly do rule the waves, when we really want to anyway. The
Sobek class Nushunefu is an ironclad we made equipped with our new artillery and smaller Djer-Khenthap cannons along with four inches of armour at the belt. We expect to kick the Khants out of the sea with this no matter what they do. We also worked on the
Markata 2-8-4 Steam Locomotive Series-A model 1899, which is a train that should help our transport and industry, once we lay down the tracks needed for it to run.
Our enemy meanwhile has made the
Ayanga QF-12cm L40, a artillery peace not too different from our Djer-Khenthap's. It has been equipped onto their own ironclads along with being used on the ground. They also seem to have made both flare arrows and flare guns for their soldiers to use their new guns a bit better. Still, we predict nothing but a extraordinarily lucky shot or a shot at point blank from their gun will be able to do much of anything to our ships.
Battle Report, Naval Combat: The new Sobek class is just what our navy needed, able to deal with our enemy ships quite well, they can withstand our enemy's guns at long range with ease and the Luu with a few good hits will go down under the waves, and the Yalagdashgui are too slow to do much of anything to us, while we just take out their sails and paddle wheels and leave them, or occasionally go in to finish them off at close range, which only our Manganese shells will penetrate their armour. Of course, we aren't invincible. Crew can still die on the deck, and our turrets aren't immune from fire. A skilled and coordinated group of Luu's can take out both turrets with causalities if they come close enough, although to do that they would need more numbers then what they have.
Still we pushed them back and now we have a nice minor advantage to show for it.Battle Report, Ruins/Mountains. Attackers, Nafuna, Karikhita: The fight for the ruins and mountains is basically like both sides throwing swords at a well made stone wall trying to get to the other side so they could kill the other person, quite simply just dulling the blades and making little to no progress. In defense we are better equipped with our Sekhmet's, in offense, they are better with their much more mobile Shuurga and their better rifle. From the fighting, we find ourselves tired and with no land retaken to show for it, but we don't get pushed back at all either, and we are quite certain that to an extent anyway, the Khant's have a slight advantage in their attacks, but with our defense and our Sekhmet's, its not enough to push us back by much at all.
The lines remain stagnant, neither moving foreword or falling back. [Nafuna 0/4, Karikhita 4/4]Battle Report, Hills, Attackers, Nafuna, Karikhita: The introduction of Karikhitan Artillery has a interesting effect, their shots are less damaging to us, as they are smaller shells, but they still do damage when a Khant officer takes out a bow and fires a flarerrow at one of our Sekhmet guns or anything else important. Another thing that actually happens now is that some groups of artillery no longer help our soldiers on the battle field, the officer on watch constantly scanning for the sigh of Karikhitan artillery shots to shoot at them and take their artillery out. The Karikhitans do this too, however, and oddly enough, they seem to have more guns then us. Still, the fighting on the ground is mostly won by the Karikhitans, with a superior gun to ours and with more artillery support, along with of course the ability for them to move their machine guns to places that make it hurt, we have a hard time. Even more so when their artillery is able to usually take out our own a fair bit. Regardless,
we tried our best but we are actually pushed out of the Hills, mostly due to the Karikhitan's new guns and how many of them there are. [Nafuna 0/4, Karikhita 4/4]Battle Report, Swamp/Savannah. Attackers, No one: Once again, its all quiet on the western front, no fighting, just trench digging from the ones in the Savannnah, and setting up wooden fortifications for the people in the swamp. The soldiers are able to relax, drink, and once again talk to each other. There is even a rumor of a Karikhitan and Nafunan going out where the Savannah meets the swamp and talking to each other, but of course, this is complete nonsense, who would want to talk with such barbarians?
Outside world and Internal affairs: Train tracks to all our major cities on the mainland are under construction, and a train system on our island to the east is getting built too. With this, industry is actually growing, and we should have cheep cannons by the end of the year. Meanwhile in other news, the first known use of the word automobile is in an editorial in The New York Times. Anglo-Egyptian Sudan forms. George Dewey becomes first in the US to hold the rank of Admiral of the Navy. Aspirin is patented by Felix Hoffmann at the German company Bayer. Ernest Rutherford publishes his discovery of two different kinds of radiation. And the Second Boer War starts....
Meanwhile, on the island of Arnot which the inhabitants claim is a continent, a war between the Königreich des schwarzen and Deyrnas y blaidd wyn starts. No one really cares about this war, but being nearby, both nations haven given an offer to you, your best rifle design for some 'help' in shady business...Khopesh, A classic short sword design we have not forgotten even after all these years, the major difference between it and the original is the use of steel instead of iron or bronze and it is much sharper then what we had before. Costs 1 Ore-Cheep
Armored Chariot, Unlike our foe, we do not ride atop horses in battle, instead, we use chariots. These particular chariots are armored and quite sturdy so they wont have an unlikely chance of being set on fire. It is only used by skilled riflemen, as we have limited numbers of them due to the required skill needed to make them. Costs 2 Wood, 1 Ore -Complex, Expensive
1891 Nafuni Soldier Uniform Standardization, A standardization of our soldiers equipment and outfit. It protects them quite a bit and it also allows those equipped with Thoth mk 1's to have more ammo then they would have otherwise. The boots help in the mountains and swamps, and the helm protects against arrows. -Cheap
Carrera Series 1 Model 1 Repeating Rifle, A rifle designed by a immigrant from the nation called Cannala. It is a rifle with a revolver and brake action for reloading, which takes some time, however it can get all six shots off fairly quickly. It is deadly at close range and is about as fast as the Karikhitans own rifles. 1 Ore 1 Wood, Cheap
Asimov Artillery Shell, A explosive shell made by another immigrant, this time from Arstotzka. The shell is explosive on impact, or when set to a different range, which can lead it to exploding after it hits the ground or before it does. It is extremely effective on concentrations of soldiers and ships. Cheap
.305 Reseph-Vizier Series 1 Service Rifle, A bolt action rifle that includes the ability to mount a scope. It is accurate and powerful even at long ranges when in the hands of someone skilled. Cheap
Reseph-Vizier S1SSR 8x1.26' Scope, A scope for the Reseph-Vizier. It is exclusively used by skirmisher squads who shoot from afar. It is extremely helpful in aiming long range shots and can allow eagle eyes shoot at targets from even longer ranges. Cheap
Carrera Series 3 Model 2 Rapid Repeater Revolver, The first Rapid Repeater gun in the war, this heavy and fast firing monster is extremely useful against the Karikhitan advance, and with it we have decided to shift our tactics to a bit more of a defensive stance. After all, we are the defenders in this war. Costs 2 ore, -Complex, Expensive.
Sekhmet 1.6-inch Revolver Cannon, A heavy and hard to move emplacement that is able to penetrate cover quite well and honestly is a bit overkill. Its also a bit faster firing then our Rapid Repeater and is a very very good defensive emplacement, although its mobility is quite bad. It includes a shield to protect the gunner Costs 3 ore, -Complex, Expensive.
QF Tauret Field Artillery Piece model 1898, The fruits of Project Hippo's labor. A heavy hitting fast firing artillery that has range long enough to be able to properly use indirect fire, so long as someone uses the new flares we made. Costs, 3 ore, -Complex, Expensive
Sobek class Nushunefu, Our first and best Ironclad, armoured with 4 inches of iron and armed with four Tauret's and 12 Djer-Khenthap's, one would expect such a ship would be slow, but that is not the case at all! It is fairly fast and goes at about 14 knots at max speed. Costs 3 Ore, 2 Wood -Complex Expensive
Markata 2-8-4 Steam Locomotive Series-A model 1899, The first train ever to be used and made on Janal, it will help us with our transport and our industry, soon anyway. For now we need a few more tracks to be laid down...
Mongol Sabre, A old sword design that has served us well even after all these years, It can be used on horseback just as well as it can be used on foot. Costs 1 Ore -Cheap
Bear Armour, Sadly, not made out of bear leather, Bear armour is simple but effective cloth and leather armour able to stop arrows from killing at medium and long range, however, it doesn't stop musket shots at anything short of extreme range, at which point, you have to be lucky, which considering how accurate a musket is at that range, means you probably aren't. The arms aren't armored for flexibility, and it doesn't include a helm, so shots to the head or arms will be more effective then the chest. -Cheap
SS Yalagdashgui, Its a large ship armed with the Karikhitans new Tom-Shonkhor cannon. Its slow but basically impervious to all we can throw at it and it uses both sails and large paddle wheels, presumably powered by steam..
Burgud Infantry Rifle, Karikhitans new infantry rifle, it is able to fire multiple shots without reloading and uses smokeless powder like our own rifle. Other then that its a bolt action rifle.
Luu-Class Cruiser, A light and fast Ironclad that, theoretically we could sink, if it didn't always have the backup of another Luu near it at all times. Still, we can damage it at times, but we haven't sunk any yet.
Algasahk Rifle Scope, A rifle scope we know little about. It looks kinda like a spyglass though.
Shuurga LMG, A light Machinegun that is in all likelihood better then ours. It appears to load faster and heat up slower, along with the whole very light thing.
Osolt HE TNT, A explosive shell like our old one, filled with TNT and makes a nice big boom, sometimes it doesn't though.
Ayanga QF-12cm L40, A new 120 mm of gun that is used by the Karikhitans on their ships and on the ground. On the ground there is a scary amount of them, so many they just keep coming...
Since some people asked for it.
