Battle Report 8, 1897
This year, we made a resounding success making the Carrera Series 3 Model 2 Rapid Repeater Revolver, a gun able to fire hundreds of bullets out per minute, although the barrel tends to overheat if there isn't any brakes between firing, although its not so much of an issue seeing how we can always just replace the barrel when the need arises. Its as powerful as our normal rifle however, so it wont be able to punch through light cover that easily, but for our first time working on this thing, its good enough. We also worked on Project Hippo, which still hasn't gotten to far off the ground, but at least we are getting somewhere with it, hopefully we will have it done by next year...Hopefully.

The Karikhitans have worked on what they call the Luu-Class Cruiser, a blisteringly fast ironclad compared to their older, and more heavily armored ship. Of course, we can theoretically sink one, but not easily, and not before it does heavy damage to us. Our Skirmishers have also reported seeing a glint on some of the enemy's rifles, and used that to their advantage to kill them, closer inspection revealed that they have something called the Algasahk Rifle Scope, although we don't know much about it, though it looks kinda like a spyglass.

Battle Report, Naval Combat: Due to the enemy's new cruiser, they are able to actually catch up to our ships when they sight them. We still can see them first as the smoke from its engines can easily be seen on the horisen, however getting away or not being detected is the hard part. If one of them see's one of our ships, its basically doomed to sink, as it can only under the most perfect situations manage to get away, and such situations are called perfect for a reason. Quite simply, our enemy has a major Naval advantage over us. Lucky us they don't have complete domination...yet.

Battle Report, Ruins. Attackers, Nafuna, Karikhita: With supplies coming in less and less, we start to feel a bit of pain here. Our repeater revolver is extremely effective, allowing us to pin down and kill any Kari that dares come into view, at least, when it has ammo anyway. As one would expect, it eats through ammo very quickly, and with limited supply it isn't able to be used anywhere near as much as we would like, but when it is used, the enemy usually is stuck in one location long enough for a skirmisher or some of our other soldiers to flank them and either eliminate or capture them. Otherwise, they get picked off by the many bullets flying at them if they don't find cover of some sort. However, the enemy now has a slight advantage facing off against us at range, now that they have some kind of scope. Still, the big thing here is supplies, and sadly, we don't get enough of them, we are pushed back, but not without inflicting heavy losses on the enemy. [Nafuna 1/4, Karikhita 3/4]

Battle Report, Villages. Attackers, Karikhita: The battle here is a place our repeating revolver shines. As we know that such a weapon is great in defensive actions, our soldiers started digging trenches and the like. While doing so, they would usually be attacked, however the machine guns would prove crucial to killing the enemy and protecting the people working on the trenches. Even better, due to the enemy's reluctance to get off a horse, they make themselves bigger targets making them a bit easier to hit then they would otherwise be if they where on foot, although their speed is still an issue. Once the trenches where fully made it was a truly easy fight, sure we suffered some losses but no where near enough to warrant much in the way of reinforcements. The Khant's just kept on falling down as they charged around and around firing away inefficiently at our soldiers. It also should be mentioned that they seem to dislike our new guns, seeing how they constantly are aiming for the guns and their operators, both with their artillery and with their smaller guns. Lucky for us they still haven't made explosive artillery shells as that could make our machine guns have a bit more trouble fighting them off then they do right now. As one can quite easily tell, we are able to fend them off inflicting many casualties while losing few of our own men against them and their forces. [Nafuna 4/4, Karikhita 0/0]

Battle Report, Swamp. Attackers, Nafuna: A bit of land in the war that was peaceful for a year ends up turning bloody as the attacks and fighting continue. Upsetting as it sounds, attacking the swamp was probably not one of our greatest ideas. We have to deal with the Karikhitan's rifle which is better then ours and usually is able to fire before we are done reloading and aiming after we take a shot. Our machine gun is useful however, but its usefulness is limited as its still heavy, and its hard to find ground where we can properly place it down without it sinking into the mud, and getting mud where you place the barrels can result in them falling off, although, this only has happened in a few very specific cases. Regardless, we are unable to really force our way into the swamp, although we did not simply roll over and let the door kick us on the way out. [Nafuna 0/4, Karikhita 4/4]

Outside world and Internal affairs: For the most part things are actually quite quiet this year, at least in our little part of the world and away from the front line anyway. In actual news, however, the first successful submarine that can run submerged for any considerable distance and combines electric and gasoline engines is launched in the USA, designed by John Philip Holland. Thomas Edison patents the Kinetoscope, a device which produces moving pictures. The world's first car dealer opens in London and London becomes the world's first city to host licensed taxicabs.

Sekhmet 1.6’’ Revolver Cannon
You know what we like? High rates of fire. You know what else we like? Big guns. Normally, you have to choose between two. Well, I say no more!
Sekhmet 1.6’’ Revolver Cannon is a combination of Carrera Series 3 Model 2 and lessons learned from Project Hippo. It uses same revolver action as Carrera Series 3 Model 2, but scaled to 1.6’’ cannon shells as well as recoil reduction system from Project Hippo, giving the weapon an extremely high rate of fire without sacrificing accuracy. Thanks to use of 1.6’’ shells, it can fire both high explosive as well as armor piercing shells. Shells are fed using belts that use metal links to keep the shells in place until they are extracted from the belt. Fire rate is aimed to be around 450 RPM. Weapon comes with a carriage that can be pulled by troopers, allowing the weapon to be relocated on the battlefield. A disc is installed at the base of the carriage, allowing the gun to be rotated 360 degrees and aimed freely. The barrel has a metal shroud around it help with the cooling.


Alternatively, we could do a ship and try to make that damn cannon finally.

Seeing as we've discussed the autocannon in the discord extensively, I think this design has a fair chance of giving us a tremendous advantage in close-range combat, as well as a potent anti-ship weapon given lighter armor or uncovered enemies. QF 6-inch Tauret Field Artillery Piece Model 1898 (Revision)
Following several years of research and development, and numerous hardships involved with Project Hippo, the Tauret represents the cummulative improvement to artillery guns over this period and marks a significant improvement over traditional cannons of it's time. Firing self-contained ammunition, with the powder charge in a brass case which also held the  boat-tailed shell, which has been kept at 6’’ in diameter as fitting with the project. While featuring a lanyard / rope for firing over soft ground, the gun can be fired with a lever because it is essentially immobilized by a combination of features all developed during project Hippo, including hydropneumatic recoil dampening, a trail spad for it's split trail (allowing a reasonably wide traverse of around 30°, while elevation goes from -10° to 45°, while digging into the ground during fire), cut-off gear to direct more energy into the ground at larger elevations and wheel brakes which can be swung under each wheel - while automatic casing ejection from the armored caisson is also a welcome addition from the project, improving the gun's rate of fire. The hydropneumatic recoil dampening action is the most pronounced compared to previous artillery guns made by Nafuna, as it absorbs the recoil progressively as the internal air pressure rises and, at the end of recoil, generates a strong but decreasing back pressure that returned the gun forward to its original position. Also taken from project Hippo, the weapon utilizes purposefully built armor piercing projectiles, with both steel and manganese-steel variants available.

While the previous additions all stem from project Hippo, some other improvements were made given the time spent on the design. To further protect the gunners from small-arms fire and against shell splinters, the piece features a nickel-steel shield which slopes backwards. Flare guns have been devised, which, coupled with the previous implementation of quadrants and sights for the gunners, allow fire teams to call upon artillery support when the piece is out of sight, and when enemies don't have a clear view of the incoming artillery. Due to the above noted features, the new piece is expected to have a rate of fire around 15 rounds per minute, with 20-25 rounds per minute being theoretically attainable by skilled crews.

This one uses Carrera motto of "MOAR DAKKA!", which has never failed us.

And Tauret would be trivial revision this turn, so we are basically guaranteed to get something no matter what we roll
