Battle Report 5, 1894
This year, our engineers...or well, Brittan's engineers, made the Carrera Series 1 Model 1 Repeating Rifle. A brand new rifle able to fire six shots in a row before needing a reload thanks to the revolver mechanism along with the bullets placed into the revolver. With it, we will be able to decimate our enemy at short range with rapid fire the likes of which has never been seen on Janal before! We also worked on the Asimov Artillery Shell, which is basically a Reseph shot that is designed to explode when it hits the target, or shortly before or after.

Our enemy meanwhile, developed a new rifle, one that shoots as many rounds per minute as our own, okay maybe a little less but still. This rifle is known as the Guulin Infantry Rifle, a bolt action rifle that can, apparently, be used at long range in good hands. They also made the Guulin Carbine & Bayonet, which as one could guess, is a shorter version of the rifle that is less accurate but can be used on a horse, which is probably why they made a shorter version of the gun. It also made a bayonet which can be used on the normal rifle.

Battle Report, Naval Combat: With our brand new exploding Asimov shells, we are able to basically destroy any ship so long as we hit it at least once, this makes naval engagements go by much faster and we are able to start butchering the Karikhita's transports much more efficiently as a result of this. Naturally, our ships rarely get harmed at all in these engagements, allowing them to stay out for longer, and generally the navy being considered the safest branch of the military of Nafuna. Our captains are happy to say, we have complete and utter naval domination

Battle Report, Ruins. Attackers, Nafuna: The Ruins are a twisting maze of ruined and ancient constructions. Once a great city, these lands where razed by our enemies long ago near the start of this conflict into the stone remains that exist now. While support of things like cannons and horses can help here, the maze like streets parts of which are blocked off by debris limits their usefulness. Combat tends to, due to the terrain, happen at long range or close quarters, and with our powerful fleets preventing the enemy from getting much in the way of anything to the island, along with our repeating rifles being devastating at close range, we are able to take ground. [Nafuna 1/4, Karikhita 3/4] The enemy will however still get the resources of this land if we don't manage to push them back again, lucky us they won't be able to do that so easily.

Battle Report, Villages. Attackers, Nafuna, Karikhita: The battle here is a hard fought one as the once grassy green fields of grass and golden fields of wheat start to turn into nothing but brown dirt from our new cannon shot. More dead litter the battlefield then before as the number of casualties on the front just climb higher and higher. Early on we learn we have to ditch our tactics of volley fire as the amount of fire taken makes being spread out much much better then just standing in a line like a shooting gallery. However, due to our own fire, they too have changed tactics, focusing much much more on hit and run, living and dying upon it. That, and ambushes. However, occasionally, men start dropping even when our enemy is far away, and occasionally when they aren't seen. We presume this is a new kind of skirmisher of some sort. However, our new cannon shot is devastating and can make any of their ambushes end in disaster if things go well. Over all, the fighting is quite terrible and many more die then the prior years, both on our side and our enemy. Despite all the efforts of our own soldiers, along with all the efforts of the enemy, no one gains anything, luckily however, we believe we lost less then they did. [Nafuna 3/4, Karikhita 1/4]

Battle report, Swamp. Attackers, Karikhita: Once again the Karikhitan's attack the swamp, this time with a new much more reliable and effective rifle then last time. Of course, we made a fancy new rifle too however, we weren't prepared for what happened here. Our enemy used their ambush tactics to an almost extreme level. Constantly harassing our weary soldiers who had been dealing with some of the worst conditions for a while now. And with our enemy using their cannon and their new gun to their best advantage along with the constant paranoia our soldiers had been facing through the year, combined with the fact that they had been barely holding the line for so long despite the losses they had taken finally managed to brake them. If we managed to make a change and give our own soldiers an advantage here, things would be different, but we didn't and now, Karikhita has managed to advance and kick us out of the swamps. [Nafuna 0/4, Karikhita 4/4]

Outside world and Internal affairs: Our industrialization has progressed a fair amount. Especially in our agricultural sector which has seen factories processing food faster then ever before, much much quicker then anything we had before. Along with this, we have managed to gain access to some more ore from underneath our land. This has lead in a boost of production and we now have a total of 4 ore for our use. In other news, the Donghak Peasant Rebellion begins in Mujiang, Korea over local corruption, sparking the 1st Sino-Japanese War. Anarchist Émile Henry hurls a bomb into Paris's Cafe Terminus, killing one and wounding 20. He is later executed by guillotine. Archibald Primrose, the 5th earl of Rosebery, becomes the First Lord of the treasury. Mahatma Gandhi forms the Natal Indian Congress in order to fight discrimination against Indian traders in Natal. German Emperor Wilhelm II fires chancellor Leo von Caprivi & Premier Botho zu Eulenburg. And Nicholas II becomes the new Tsar of Russia after his father, Alexander III, dies.

scarab grenade
This handheld bomb is sinilar to the asimov shell in that it creates a timmed eyplosion. It is lit like our cannons and has a similar fuse mechanism. It can be hurled at enemies and create a similar effect as our cannons but is meant for close encounters.

Reseph Horus Series 1 Sniper Rifle
The Reseph Horus Series 1 Sniper Rifle is a bolt-action rifle utilizing ammunition from the Carrera Series 1 Model 1 Repeating Rifle.  This rifle comes with a set of lenses to form a scope to allow for users of the weapon to be able to target enemy forces from a far greater range than with just their eyes, and the powder for the ammunition is modified to become the smokeless powder the British Research Team had been speaking of.  As the two weapons use the same type of ammunition, this latter innovation will improve the Carrera Series 1 Model 1 Repeating Rifle as well.

Samir Precision Rifle Mark 1Outdated
The Samir mark 1 is a straight pull bolt action rifle chambered in a new smokeless .25x2.25 inch round. The mark 1 is built around the newly created smokeless powder, mainly due to it's more explosive nature the barrel is heavily reinforced. The new .25 caliber round offers an extremely high velocity compared to our current rifle letting our soldiers hit just about anything they can see. It's fed from a detachable 10 round box mag which is slightly curved due to the heavy bottle neck of the round. The bolt is fairly akin to the kind used by our enemy but, has cams milled into the receiver and bolt handle to let the user pull/push it straight to operate the weapon. Thanks to it's fairly low recoil round and straight pull bolt our soliders can maintain their sight on enemies when using the weapon letting them make use of the 10 round mag to great effect.

We really can't make semi-auto, machine gun or high velocity cannons without smokeless powder so fixing that is quite important. In addition if we get the straight pull bolt we are about half way to a gas operated machine gun.(really you can convert straight to semi/full auto weapon by adding a gas feed and operating rod.) In addition for the revision if that goats be wiling we get a good roll we can armor ships and deal with either the enemy new cannon/explosive round or new ship/explosive round.

Steel Armored Chariot

A light but armored chariot made possible by our new industrial might.  A suspension system made out of flexible wood and a metal leaf spring is protected by an undercarriage skirt of thin steel to provide a more stable firing platform.  The wheels are steel coated wood while the sides go all the way up into full protective walls and a roof of very light armored steel.  Firing ports and a door protected by a sliding lock mechanism keep the occupants safe while allowing fields of fire to the front, sides and back.  The horses are better armored with steel barding and are trained for semi-independent action so the driver can split duty between commanding them and firing a rifle.  With triple the firepower and superior armor, this armored vehicle warfare is certainly a modern marvel.

.305 Reseph-Vizier Series 1 Service Rifle
Following the shortcomings of Carrera rifle, the Vizier of the Pharoah himself (A critic of the Carrera rifle) has in turn worked with firearms designer Reseph Seti-Nekht to create a new rifle to replace the Carrera in general service, relegating it to specialist units. Incorporating a turn pull bolt for maximum reliability of the firearm's action, whilst still allowing the user to aim constantly at the enemy whilst cycling the action, the Reseph-Vizier is a better weapon to both rifles currently in service by either side by use of an internal, 10-round spring-loaded box magazine. Boasting a large .305(7.75mm) caliber round (Described below) that utilises smokeless powder that ensures the round is powerful and accurate. Unlike any other rifle in service, the Reseph-Vizier a comparatively short weapon, only holding a 26.62 inch (600mm) barrel and an overall length of roughly 3'8" (Or roughly 1.1 metres). The rifle also boasts attachment points for a carry sling and a scope, should we later develop a scope to be used on the weapon.

.305 Reseph Akar Series 1 Service Rifle
Given the additional time he had to work on the rifle, the Akar series is Reseph's attempt to surpass anything seen before in the war and bring highly accurate, powerful and long ranged firepower to soldiers of the Nafuni Royal Army. The rifle works on a bolt action, inspired by foreign designers. The bolt action, in particular, a turn-bolt action, is named the Reseph-Colon bolt action, after the main contributors to it’s creation, Reseph Seti-Nekth and Jacob Colon. Cartridges are fed into the weapon’s barrel chamber by manually operating a handle connected to the bolt on the right-hand side of the weapon. To operate the handle, the shooter does an upward turn, followed by a rearward pull to unlock the bolt and open the breech, extracting and ejecting a spent casing and enabling the shooter to insert a new cartridge. The new cartridge is held in place by locking lugs just behind the bolt head, enabling it to withstand greater pressures from cartridges, the firing pin within the bolt is cocked on opening, where-in an upward rotation of the bolt when the rifle is opened cocks the action, the bolt is pushed forwards and finally the breech is closed tight by the bolt locking against the receiver. As he had more time, an internal magazine was developed to house 5 rounds of R.305A95, as well as a stripper clip to increase reload speed, and a 4x32 magnification screw-on scope, shown by foreign designers to allow for accurate long range fire. The weapon is to be 38 inches long, with a barrel measuring 25.79 inches in length, rifling of one turn per 13 inches and is to weight no more than seven pounds.

We can get smokeless powder in a revision and not risk the rifle because of it. Joe said a rifle this turn would be normal, with a scope and mag probably hard, so why make it borderline impossible when we can get the powder in a revision - or not and wait for next turn. Black powder cartridges were used with the Mosin and there wasn't that much loss in quality, tho with smokeless we'll get superior speed for a smaller load, so we'll be able to use a heavier bullet, but right now a good rifle with good ammo is all we need.

Enough of the rifles. If we open up our armies to new weaponty they will put it to good use so naturally we shpuld dictate what kind of weapons enter the battle field. A steel chariot gives us an esge over fighting against their fairly armoured cavlry while grenades gives us another boom boom to be used. I think the grenades will be especially helpful in these ambush situations.

I respectfully disagree. We are outranged due to the weapon that got passed last turn, and we need to compensate for that. Anyways, the plan last turn was to design the Reseph this turn and try and revision smokeless powder to leap ahead of the Khants. Grenades won't currently help us as much as a new rifle would, and that's the reality of our situation.
