Well, I really dont like the flavor of either side. On one hand, a inherently mobile, and thus unsuited for industrialized anything, faction. On the other, frigging bronze-age Egypt in 1890.
 Third-party observer ho!

sounds like fun given I like alt history, although I do not see why you set this in some weird island instead of just having these people sail to the Americas...actually .I suppose htat you simply wanted our teams to avoid completion with the natives and Europeans so much that you invented a new island instead of taking the perhaps simpler route and made this a low fantasy game with with eygpt and mongol like factions.

I guess the only reason you did not do that is that you couldn't see the Mongols eventually discovering gunpowder on their own or something? Also what is to keep Europe from intervening or the two sides calling for foreign aide?

...

Pax, this is an Arms Race game. It is in no way supposed to be historically accurate, nor is it 'alt history' of any stretch of the imagination.

It is an entirely impossible (Or perhaps merely improbable) chain of events by which Piratejoe got Egyptians fighting Mongols, and there was no rhyme nor reason to it other than PJ wanted Egyptians fighting Mongols.

As for foreign aid, that would just destroy the purpose of an Arms Race game.

And/or adds a level of complexity that most players dont bother with.

Ofcourse, during this timeperiod there where atleast two companies in the US that could, and did, outfit whole nations armies at a time with surplus stuff. Which may actually have been interesting, mongols with Remington rolling blocks vs Egyptians with Austrian breachloaders.

I know I just wanted to hear why the author set up the chain of events the way he did and an in-game explanation for why someone just cannot sail over to Europe and go ''hey France, if you help blast our foes out of the water we will give you tons of cheddar''.

;P

No real ships, from what I can tell.

As for why no ships? Dunno, but the franco/british observers arent giving them any.

For the same reason that in ICAR Forenia can't ask for some guns from Germany or a fleet from Japan, and why Cannala can't just wait a year and ask for a US Task Force to kill us (Well, that's because we have jet fighters and assault rifles, but....).

Heads up to you non discord people, updated the map so its easier to understand, also made the island placement make some more sense. As to why France or Brittan isn't getting involved? Well, first off, this is what happens when two random rich people out on a nice bit of exploration on the sea's for whatever reason with a bunch of sailors they hired to take them end up on the shore of a distant land and then scam them out of some priceless golden crafts. Of course, contact with the outside world and its many nations will officially be made this turn, considering the whole deal of "Hey where the hell did you get this from?" and how the stereotypical snobby rich person would respond along with a boat or two sent out to try and find the mystical lands of France and Brittan....Thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it

Yaknow, I think the most impressive thing that has happened this game is that some blokes in 1890 managed to get ahold of enough working matchlock muskets to equip not one, but two armies.

Each side had apparently been given one each, then built our own based off of it.

Ah, but that's where you're wrong. They're not matchlock muskets.

They're matchlock rifles.

Good luck finding one of those in any year on the calendar, let alone 1890. (Well, no, there probably were some in existence somewhere at some point, but they would not have been common by any stretch of the imagination)

Matchlock rifles existed. Rifles did not take toolong to showup. Its just that they took so long to reload prior to minie balls that besides the rare group of skirmishers no one used them for armies.
