He's slim, and his arms and legs aren't particularly muscular but he looks like he's fairly fit physically. He has long dark brown hair that's normally tied back into a low ponytail and it hangs down to the top of his back. His skin is tanned, from both heritage and his time outside, and his eyes are a dark brown as well. He has no tattoos, but he has a surgical scar on his chest and another below his ankle.

*Three magic skills
- Smokescreen: He can summon a bus-sized cloud of smoke wherever he can see, up to about a hundred feet away. Handy for getaways.
- Farsight: Through the use of intense concentration and assisted with a bit of material from the place he's trying to see, Russel can see what's going on in a certain location, or find a certain person. The skill deteriorates quickly over distance, and the radius is only really useful if he's in the same city as the thing he's trying to see.
- Kneebrace: Russ can get from point A to point B by focusing magical energy in his leg muscles and bracing the bones, letting him jump large distances and survive long falls. It also helps deliver a nasty kick.
*Three mundane skills
- Perception: Camerawork isn't just about setting up the shot, it's about finding the shot first. Studying people and places to find just the right composition to capture is a skill that Russ has fine tuned.
- White lies: While he isn't that great at telling straight lies through his teeth, putting together little half-truths was always a handy skill when getting into (or out of) places he shouldn't be. They didn't usually hold water, and after a few minutes of scrutiny they could be figured out, but generally he was a few blocks away by that point.
- Climbing: A bird's eye view is a great tool for a cameraman. It also came in handy when bouncers wouldn't let him in to certain events, as there was always a fence or skylight they weren't watching.
