Candy sutures as armor?
« on: October 24, 2017, 11:25:40 am »

Does anyone know if sutures sewn into a dwarf's wounds actually factor into combat checks? The idea of systematically injuring and sewing up a chosen, very (un)lucky dwarf with candy strands until their body is covered in a protective layer of the stuff is highly amusing. But the actual process of basically slowly flaying a dwarf bit by bit to replace weak flesh with strong Candy Fibers is difficult, time-consuming, and uses a very finite resource.

So for example, if a stray arrow was shot at Urist's sewn-up leg in the right spot, would it be protected at all? Or would the weakness of the flesh surrounding the strand fail in spite of it?

Sutures are not factored into combat checks, no, as is anything stuck into body parts.

The closest thing Bay12 has to a flamewar is an argument over philosophy that slowly transitioned to an argument about quantum mechanics.

The trick is to only make predictions semi-seriously.  That way, I don't have a 98% failure rate. I have a 98% sarcasm rate.

Damn, looks like I am going to have to go all the way to Shadowrun to get my dwarf street samurai with a dermal-weave cybernetic enhancement.

Just construct your mechanical dwarf directly instead of trying to rebuild a weakling of flesh and blood bit by bit.

If it's about that FB extract dorf story that went around recently, the real defensive armament of that was not the sutures but the lack of body parts to hurt afterwards; same idea as using magma mist to remove fat from dwarves.

Hmm - it might be possible to add a 'cyberdwarf' caste, with a pop ratio of zero, and a syndrome to turn a normal dwarf into a cyberdwarf.
