Kobold start issues

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, I've run masterwork pretty much as-is but when I select kobold start (crafters, rats) the embark screen doesn't show or list jack rats anywhere (under problems, it says it couldn't add jack rats, sewer brew, couple other things). If I finish embark, I don't have any of the kobold special workshops (including breeding warren) and visually (meph tileset) the figures are still dwarves.

Are you sure you selected a kobold civ when chosing your embark location?

It is possible to have multiple races listed as playable in the launcher and you can cycle through them when chosing your civ at embark. It can be confusing as the only ways that I know of to identify which race is which are either to look at the civ sites icons on right-most map (but not always reliable if you enabled several playable civs as several will use the same symbol) or to look at your world in legends.

I imagine selecting a dwarven civ and then a kobold embark profile could cause what you describe.

figured it out, looks like kobold "fortress" was not enabled on the civ tab
