Oh hey I think I remember talking to you over steam about this?

Nice to see you made progress on it. What are the major mechanical differences between this and HellMOO / InfernoMOO? Looking at the screenshots gives me a huge HellMOO vibe, and the main area kinda looks like Freedom City too.

stillborn suffers from "too much new shit to remember" syndrome, but right off the bat stillborn is in no way or form the same world of HellMOO. i'm sure others on the discord who've played both extensively could explain better than i can.

Ooh, can we replace limbs with newer, better limbs? Cybernetic arms? Elder tentacle legs? Synthpenises? Pegheads?

Even just the implication of a variable number of arms/heads looks promising. Keep up the good work, nice to have you back from the darkness.

Cue synthetic Cthulhoid founding a Cult of the Deep. If this becomes possible, I'm joining.

well, one of my favorite mental images when thinking about the future of stillborn is a player-controlled deep one wandering the wastes with a bionic goggle replacing their eyes

I rolled up a character. I gotta say though, it's going to be really hard to not play HellMOO now that I've seen this.

I also rolled up a character on Sheol real quick, since once again, I got that itch. However, Sheol is a little eh. Chargen is annoying, and one thing Inferno did to mitigate the annoyance of Dreams of Before was just let you pick four skills to tag instead of run through it. Also, you don't have the flail or teach skills, it seems? I just popped in briefly, but I'll keep an eye on both MOOs.

My girlfriend just rolled up an orphan on Hell, so I'll explore Stillborn a bit more and see if she'd rather play that. She has absolutely 0% experience with MU*, so it'll be hilariously bad either way.

Aww, so no horrific breeding with the horrors that lurk behind the veil of reality? That's a shame.

That said, yeah. Once you got over the "ooh, boobies!" phase, sex in Hell was really just kind of a mildly irritating necessity. Random goo streaks over everything. ...not saying I didn't try to seduce every weird NPC, because I did, but I'm pretty sure I can manage to live a full and awful life without that particular aspect.

The whore job was useful for XP/cash, especially for newbies, and feeding babies to the Shoggoth was an experience that everyone should have.

Dunno if I'll play Stillborn with no Fuck. I totally understand the minmax concerns - I really do. However, that could be dealt with mechanically (just.. remove stress relief from fucking? Nerf it?) instead of removing the entire mechanic.

Moreover, while it's one thing to ERP, the Fuck command was brief and got the point across without flowery emotes of sex having. I would be comfortable ass raping someone I had a problem with via the Fuck command. I would not be comfortable emoting that. There's something straight to the point about a mechanical sex feature.

But it's whatever. We'll see how the game turns out.

the fuck commands were removed for more reasons than just balance, they don't add anything meaningful to stillborn given it's attempted theme.
