Does we have clear neighboors with a kind of map already underway, or they will be placed as the game go? (or everyone is close and far at the same time?)

Can we indiscriminately attack NPCs and have no repurcussions other than there being open war? o_o
Because out of the freeform options, I'm wondering if we can improve our own provinces by spending Prestige, Manpower, or Wealth, given that there was little in the way of choices (or diplomacy notes) in the OP.

Given the existence of theocracies, it might be useful for roleplaying to flesh out what religious denominations exist in the Empire. For example, are any or all of the other archbishoprics and monastic orders my co-religionists? If so, do I regard any of them as heretics, or worse, Bulgarians? Do any of the other nations regard me as a spiritual leader (hint: they had BETTER)?

Of course, I think players should be able to pick their own religious affiliations, which may change in the due course of time. It's probably best to avoid having too many, though.
