Added some more clarifications today.  If anyone in the audience wants to propose some specific plants or creatures for specific biomes, that would probably be appreciated.

I've been thinking of taking up DF modding again at some point, might wait for him to finish the current arc, but I was thinking of making a small version of this by assigning specific flora and fauna to wet/dry and layers 1/2/3.  So I know I can't mod things like lakes of tar or underground oceans, but I'm thinking I could try Tendril Savanna, Fossil Ocean, Mushroom Jungle, Slime Jungle, Dragon Hive, Prehistoric Pocket.  I'll think about it.

I also changed the titles to be a bit more readable.  They say that if text is colored green, the gods themselves might read them...

Toady reads all suggestions anyway. Green text only works in FOTF. Oh, and with the magic update underground regions will be procedurally generated anyways. So this suggestion is of little use to Toady.

What's that supposed to mean?  All of these suggestions are cavern types that could be procedurally generated.

If you mean that every game is going to have underground worlds populated by forgotten-beast and instrument style generated creatures and plants, then that's a stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid idea.

They'll be based on spheres that we have now. I'm all for it. That's Toady's plan, and you have no rights to derail it.

However, there will be a weirdness slider. So mid-weirdness worlds might have those biomes instead of Procgen ones.

Kittytac, in order to procedurally generate countless varieties of world, you need to have an idea of what kind of worlds you want your procedural generator to come up with. That's why Threetoe wrote all those stories. The end goal is 'unique fantasy worlds' the strangeness and magicalness and violence of which we'll have control over.

Yes, Toady won't come to this thread and try to hand craft a mushroom jungle, but he might tweak the engine to ensure that underground biomes are capable of producing mushroom (or turnip, or wild frog-tree) jungles if he likes the idea.

You need to stop with the self-appointed Toady One-spokesman role especially when you insist on doing it badly.

I just informed AceSV of the importance of his suggestion. It'll only be useful as a rough guide for the procedural generator.
