Twenty Below (SG)
« on: October 09, 2017, 09:39:20 pm »

The policeman across the table from you looks down at a file he holds in his hands. He looked tired and surely was. It looked to be about three or four in the morning, so this man had left his house early for you, losing a lot of sleep.
The table is an old wood table. It's about two and a half feet wide by nine feet long, standing at three feet tall with sturdily built legs. The wood makes a unique sound with the links of your bindings dragging across the surface. They had slapped not handcuffs, but half-inch thick lead gloves on you hands. They are linked together by thick chains wound through a slot of wood carved out of the table.
The cop looks up at you with a look of tired dismay at the mountain of paperwork he'd have to do for you.
"Alright. So, let's get started." He gently tosses the file down on the table. "I'm just gonna ask a couple of questions and then you can tell me what happened. Deal?"

The policeman sighs a little too loud. "Okay, then. Let's sort this major Charlie Foxtrot out. Start from the beginning."

The beginning.

August 14, 20XX.
Las Vegas, NV

You've just finished brightening the day of your subjects with dazzling displays of "stage" magic. And they'll come back. They always do. They'd do almost anything to see the great Hester Caprossi. But then again, who wouldn't?
You head off to you dressing room to get back into normal clothes. As you near the room though you feel a slight tremor and hear a very slight groaning coming from the basement door a couple of rooms down.

"Right. Paycheck." You change and head up to the corporate lounge to talk to your employer. He's a short, portly man of around 50. He's got a wicked accent that screams 'I'm a mafia hitman.' His lounge is on the sixth floor of the building next to the theatre.
Rapping you knuckles on his door, he yells "C'mon in. Ah. It's you 'your highness'", he says with a sneer. He throws a large and heavy envelope at you. "Here's for last month's performances. Now get out!"
Deciding you'd had enough of his hostility, you make up your mind to quit next week. Whatever.
Back to the basement. After getting down the many stairwells to get to the basement level, you are faced with a door. An old peeling yellow door. Beyond it, there's a second rumble. Louder this time, even with the expected increase from the decreased distance from the source. It shakes the ground a bit more.

Opening the door from the side, so the you are almost parallel to the opening, nothing spectacular happens. The rumblings get louder, as should be expected. There's a slight creaking sound that intertwines with the rumble.
After a minute of waiting by the door, you step in. The light from the hallway illuminates the room down to what appears to be a bookshelf that is has toppled over by the shaking which can be better felt here. Where it once stood is a small tunnel leading in a generally downward direction. It is made of bricks. Down the tunnel you hear the stirrings of... Something. Something big.
