((The ground is covered in deep, uneven ash, varying between about six inches to a foot deep.  You're already leaving clear tracks in it, so you don't have to worry about crossing over your own path without noticing.  You could leave further marks, but they wouldn't really help.

I feel a lot better, yeah.  Not quite 100%, but vastly better than I was.))

"Hmm..  well, we need a higher perspective."

"Say, Mina, can you see the way out?  Maybe you could jump higher, or I could toss you, and that should help us navigate.  Do you think we've come far enough to find the witch from a different direction?"

"Okay.  Jump out of my hands, and I'll give you a boost."

Do an acrobatic launch for Mina and Tooru.  Asha can help with the lauch, making it a two-man launch.

"Well, I can try..."

Jump from Alida's hands and try to survey the area while in the air!

((Since Asha can double jump, that would be workable.  Basically, yes, something like that.))

"I could climb up, too."

I'm pretty light, do that.

You try and climb up the nearest flower, and immediately realize a significant flaw in your plan: It's a flower, and not a particularly thick flower.  You actually do pull yourself up a good two feet before it bends so far over that the stem snaps, and you fall back down into the soft ash.

Undeterred, you get back up and look around for a better place to try climbing.  You quickly spot a bunch of five larger flowers all growing within inches of each over, and walk over to them, pulling them all together and then wrapping your arms and legs around them.  Surprisingly, they do hold your weight, and you start shimmying up them... but before you can reach their tops, they start to bend to one side, preventing you from getting your head above the tallest flowers.  You try and shift your position and stretch out to peek above the canopy, but as you get close the flowers snap, and you fall back to the ground for a second time.  You sigh, and look over at Alida and Asha, who are both looking upward, apparently having just thrown Mina into the air.  Well, at least one person got to look around...

Jump from Alida's hands and try to survey the area while in the air!

After a few seconds of coordination, Alida and Asha crouch down next to each other and hold out their hands.  Mina sets down her halberd in the ash, then steps up onto their hands, wobbling for a moment as she tries to balance on their unsteady hands.  Alida counts down from three, and upon reaching zero she and Asha both use the entirety of their bodies to launch the green girl upward as hard as they can.

Alida's significantly greater strength causes Mina to cartwheel upward, spinning through the flowers and disappearing from the other girls' sight immediately.

[Creativity]

Mina, spinning around twice per second, and too far from the ground can't make much sense of her surroundings.  She flails around in an effort to steady herself so that she can get a good view, and after a few seconds she manages to slow the spinning enough to track the world around her.  The first thing she notices is the dark orange sky above her, and the angular alien stars dotting it, which look notably larger from this height.  She suddenly feels an intense sensation of being watched as she looks around the sky, which has far fewer of the syrupy storm clouds than it did earlier.  She gets the distinct feeling that this is a [glow=darkorange]bad thing[/glow].

As she reaches the apex of her flight, and starts to fall back down to the flowers, she remembers what she's supposed to be doing, and looks around at her surroundings.  She looks towards the source of the music, arbitrarily deciding to call it west, and can see a large circular gray area in the distance, and what looks like a large collapsed building of some kind--she can't make out much of any detail.  South of that, the forest of green-and-gold flowers turns violet, curving away to the west and south.  To the southeast, off in the distance, she can see a waterfall draining out of a particularly low cloud, into a river enclosed by green flowers, just like the waterfall that the group entered the labyrinth through.  By the time she looks to the east, she's nearly back to the ground, and can't see as far because the land rises into a long ridge, which has a series of three pink streaks near the top.  Finally, to the north Mina sees a long streak of red forest, and another impossible cloud-fed waterfall draining into it--but she's too low to see whether it's at the mouth of another river.

A moment later, she falls through the flowers and slams into the ashen ground below them, throwing up a massive cloud of ash and bouncing hard off of the stone below.  She goes tumbling through the flowers for a few seconds before coming to a rest, feeling stunned and bruised.  She can't see any of the other girls, but can vaugely recognize their shouts as they run over to her location.  By the time they find her, she's sitting up at the end of a trough she dug through the ash and flowers, dizzy but largely unharmed.  Alida hands Mina her halberd, then helps the girl to her feet, before having her explain what she saw.

Head towards the different-looking centre of the music. Try to help each other navigate and resist the music.

Head towards the different-looking centre of the music. Try to help each other navigate and resist the music.

Everyone quickly agrees to head towards the source of the music, and after dusting Mina off, they set off.  The music continues unabated during their journey, only getting louder, and growing irritatingly stale as it repeats itself, over and over.  The song repeats three times before the group reaches their destination, the flowers gradually growing shorter as they near the edge of the forest, making it impossible to see what's ahead until they exit.

Once they do step out, they're immediately confronted with a blackened wall.  It was clearly once the bottom portion of a beautiful building, the exterior covered with fanciful carvings and sculptures, but is now ruined, blackened by soot, and short; the building looks like it used to be several stories tall, but no portion of the wall is taller than ten feet, and most of it is lower than that.  The right corner, in particular, has entirely collapsed--it looks like a small bomb went off, spreading debris all around.

There's many empty windows in the wall, and peeking through one, the interior of the building is clearly no better off.  While enough of the interior walls remain to prevent view of the front of the ruined building, it's difficult to even figure out which areas were previously separate rooms.  The omnipresent ash covers the floor, and only a few pieces of furniture stick out of it; the frame of a bed here, half of a smashed dining table there, and a single lone piano, almost intact.

Despite the devastation, the music is definitely coming from within the building, someplace near the front.  It's uncomfortably loud, like standing in the front row at a concert, and very close.

[Creativity] * 5

Mina is the first to notice a sign of life within the building, but not from ahead.  There's actually a single intact window, stained-glass lightly covered with ash, near the left end of the wall.  A soft light shines through, even though there's no lights inside the building, and no ceiling to make either side darker anyway.

Before anyone can move to investigate closer, a familiar slowly walks into view, just past the left corner.  It looks vaguely like a mummified horse's skeleton, animate and balanced on its rear two legs.  The neck is curved forward, around the right side of the monster's empty ribcage, with the nose of the head nearly reaching the edge of the ribcage, and a spiraling horn stretching from the forehead to the base of the sternum.  Everything is held together with innumerable ribbons made from the same semitransparent plastic as the flowers, a disgustingly garish rainbow of colors forming a tight skin around the skeleton.  A quaint little bow decorates the top of the creature's horn.

It walks slowly forward through the deep ash, its gait unsteady as it rocks from side to side, almost in time with the music.  As more of it comes into view, you can see that it has two skeletal wings stretching from the back of its shoulders, each of them hung with hundreds of loose ribbons, all fluttering lightly in a breeze none of the girls can feel.

Several small motes of light fly around it, like garishly colored fireflies.  They occasionally alight on the skeletal monster, but never seem to come close to any other surfaces.  They just swirl aimlessly around the familiar.
