"Alright! You go get Pumsy, I distract kids until you come back with everyone else! Don't worry about them, I have dealt with spoiled kids that have done worse things than just putting worms into clothing."
Go distract and take care of the kids, so Pumsy and Alida can go find the other magical girls so we can all be together and have fun.
"Nuh-Uh, they're my responsability. Pumsy can find the other girls on his own. We'll stick with them together."
Play with the munchkins, and wait to see if Pumsy is going to find the others.
Aleksandra starts to walk back over to the children crowding around Pumsy, already thinking up ways to distract them while their older sister disappears, but is promptly passed by the much faster Alida. The older girl forces her way in front of the kids and calmly tells them that they've spent long enough petting the cat, so they should give it a break. They relent with unusually minor complaints, and step away from the garishly-colored feline. Alida turns and gives a quick nod to Aleksandra, before leading her siblings away.
The young Russian girl watches the older girl leave, with a mixed expression on her face. That wasn't her plan. She sighs, then turns back to Pumsy, who's now sitting up and licking a paw. She starts to ask him a question, but is immediately interrupted
"So, are you ready to make a wish yet?"Nonplussed, she stammers out an unintelligible answer, before reproachfully saying
"No, of course not!". Pumsy just nods, then tilts his head and starts washing an ear, apparently having nothing more to say. After a moment, she collects her thoughts, and asks if he can find the other girls. He simply says
"No" and starts washing the other ear without any further explanation.
Mina blinked. Then again. What... She wiggled her feather-fingers in front of her face. What? The heck? She just accidentally used magic, she was fairly sure, because people's hands don't just randomly turn into feathers naturally. Wait, she shouted, her parents might have heard that - and she did not want to have to try to explain this. She stared at her wing-hand-thing, trying to imagine her normal hand and fingers, to will it back to what it was supposed to be. Focus, focus... normal human-y hand...
That said, she was now immensely curious how far she could go with this. Was it just her hand? Or could she do... more? Not right now of course, but this was something to try out later!
Try to reverse the change!
You immediately try and stop the magic affecting your hand, cut off the flow or something, but to no avail. Unlike your illusions, which need at least some amount of attention to remain in effect, and continually drain you, your wing-hand doesn't seem to require any focus or further magic, and you can't undo it just by ending the effect. That's not really surprising, since your hand doesn't really
look much different to your magical sense, unlike illusions, but it definitely puts you on edge, especially when you notice your mother on the floor below rushing towards the staircase. She definitely heard your shout.
You focus on your weird hand, trying as hard as you can to visualize it as it was a minute ago, but it just doesn't work--you're staring at this weird mass of feathers and flesh, and seeing it as anything
but a bunch of feathers is impossible. Every time you feel something start to happen, you have to cut it off because your mind starts drifting towards rearranging the colors of the feathers, or straightening the 'fingers' into more proper wing shapes. You start to panic as your mother gets to the top of the staircase, and change tactics. You slap your still-human left hand over your feather-hand, and focus on its shape instead, figuring the change will be easier if you have a real copy to focus on.
You sigh in relief as your guess proves correct, and your hand returns to being a normal human hand.[Love]
A moment later, you hear your mother knock on your door and ask if everything is okay. You quickly say that you're okay, you just dropped something on your foot. She hesitates, but then opens your door and peeks in anyway. You smile and wave at her with your now-normal hand--and then freeze when you realize that you gave yourself a second left hand, which you are now waving right in front of your mother. She stares at you, clearly worried.
"Are you sure you're okay?"
"Yes yes I'm perfectly fine there's nothing wrong here at all haha" you say, while quickly hiding both your hands behind your back and forcing a smile.
"...Okay, Mina. I'll, let you get back to schoolwork. I'm downstairs, if you need anything."
"I know I know thanks Mom bye!"She leaves, and you take a deep breath. After she reaches the staircase you let yourself fully relax, and take your hands out from behind your back, and inspect them more closely. Your 'right' hand is now a perfect copy of your left, down to a small scar you got on your pinky when you were six.
You focus on it, trying to return it back to how it used to be, and fairly easily rearrange it back into being a right hand... but it's still a perfect copy of your left hand, just mirrored. Looking at it, you just
know it doesn't look quite the same as your right hand used to look, but you don't know exactly what's different, and how to fix it. That's... worrying.
Tooru blinked. A rather abrupt question. "Uh, not really, but I could check?" Tooru retrieved her smartphone and brought up the GPS application on it; after some fiddling with settings to get it to actually work properly, Tooru searched for "vet clinic" on her phone.
Despite not having obtained results yet, Asha was already thanking Tooru over.
"Thank you so much!"
---
Later on, whether the matter with the cat could be resolved or not, Asha asked the Tooru if she had seen Pumsy since the day they fought the Witch Maria. She also asked if everything had been alright for her, and if she made any form of progress as a magical girl. Specifically, she wanted to talk about their powers, to explore them a bit via dialogue.
She herself was still a novice, and the outlook of a fellow magical girl could help her grasp her own limits a little better.
OKAY. It's been almost two weeks and I
still can't force myself to write this, so I'm officially giving up. Congratulations; you have shown me that there are things I just hate too much for me to write about them.
You both go to a vet and have the cat checked out. Vet comments that it's clearly a well-loved pet, it's at the absolute peak of health. The excitable girl coos over it being adorable, the shy one is a non-character and therefore does not. All four of you then go do...
stuff, until at some point the excitable girl starts badgering the shy one to show you two some karaoke app on her phone, because apparently she's a good singer. She refuses. Excitable girl then switches to trying to convince Tooru to sing, ostensibly to show shy girl that singing in public isn't weird. Obligatory "KingMurdoc, please link a
youtube song with lyrics, which Tooru then sings along to, inadvertently using Duet with Reality."
Preferably something which will have dangerous effects.
