<Lets see if we can sneak around it, there seems to be only one of it, and this is a big building.>

<Maybe we should hide here and wait for it to go around to the other side?>

((This may help illustrate that Fork is an absurdly OP power is used at the right moment. Of course, it's not supposed to be able to retroactively save you, but I'd probably have thought to use it right there if I had it or indeed it existed at all in syv's game.
Of course, now I have to have an upgraded version of Fork that IS retroactive, and optionally find a way to make that not just the MOST op thing in the history of gaming.))

Continue feeling and being useless, I guess. All I can do right now is observe and follow the rest, fighting if it's needed with my gun.

Maybe start thinking of what could I wish for when this is over. I'm not sure if wishing for more wishes is allowed, or if wishing to have all of my problems solved will actually work. Think about how do I currently feel towards my family and the magical girls.

"I think the ribbon is holding it together.  If it attacks, try to cut it, okay?"

"Also.. asha, throwing Mina there took a lot out of me, more than I was expecting.  Could you wound me again?  I don't want to run out of soul and die when the witch shows up."

Hide, and help the others hide, until the unicorn thing moves around the building.  Ask Asha to use flagellation again.

If the Unicorn-ribbon creature attacks, dodge by jumping low and towards it, getting beyond it and spreading the group out, in case of a bomb.  If CC is used, try to trip it up in passing.

((Apologies for that.  I did say wards should be considered like to spectators that can RP, rather than actual, impactful characters... but I get that it's unpleasant to have a character who can't really do much of anything.  Also, I could try and write something out right now, but I don't feel creative enough to write anything good.  I'll try to process this action tomorrow.  Sorry for the delay.))

You shoo everyone back into hiding in the flower forest, pushing Mina and Tooru in last, and make sure to get them to stay low, in case the monster sees them through a gap.  That done, you turn around and peek through the low flowers near the edge, watching the familiar, ready and waiting in case it charges.

...You're rather disappointed to see that it barely moved when you shoved the others into hiding.  It continues to move slowly, only taking slow, occasional steps, not walking directly down the space between the flowers and building wall, but more at an outward angle, towards the flowers, though not near you.  You watch for another minute, ready in case it suddenly speeds up, but before it ever comes close to you, its shin rubs against a flower, and it freezes in place for several seconds.  Then, it slowly turns around in place, taking a good thirty seconds to do so, and walks back in the direction it came, the little firefly lights swirling around it the whole time.  It doesn't go back around the building, rather walking parallel to the edge of the flowers, but it's facing away from you and travels a decent distance over the next couple minutes, so you step back out of the flowers.  The monster doesn't notice, and just continues to shamble slowly away, rocking from side to side the whole time.

Well.  That was... something.  Neither the building nor the music seemed to have changed at all while you hid; the single intact window is still streaming light, despite having no surviving ceiling or light source behind it, and the music is still merrily carrying on, as always.  You feel a little anxious to get moving, you've spent a lot of time in this labyrinth just running and hiding.

((Next update Friday the 28th, with a mini-update for RGU tomorrow, if I feel like I can write anything half-decent.  Current labyrinth track: Steve Miller Band - Fly like an Eagle (Instrumental).))

((None of these changed at all:))

<Should we blow it up? Or maybe grab some flowers and take them with us? It turned around when it touched one, maybe we can trick it if it turns out to be more dangerous than it looks.> Tooru peered after the creature. It was sort of terrifying, if not immediately concerning, and its awkward motion and garish color scheme only made it more offputting. She shivered slightly, then turned back toward the building. She gestured at the window. <The lights are on, do you think the witch is home?>

Move up to the window. Tap on the glass a bit, then see if it can be opened from the outside. If at any point anything more unpleasant than a feeling of dread happens, run back to the others.

((Also, sorry for not responding. A combination of quantum mechanics and a game of Civ V with far too many mods installed has been keeping me.))

<Yeah, you know what, lets stop screwing around and blow it up.  Be careful, though, there might be more bombs around.>

Use Totem Manipulation to improve my club by making it slightly longer and heavier, getting ready for combat.  If combat starts, rush in and hit it from below, trying to dodge-tank the unicorn.

((Because I'm not around on Friday, to issue orders for after the unicorn spots us and we start fighting.  I did some chatting with syv, and part of the difficulties I've had with fighting are from a lack of detail in combat.. so I don't want to suggest just 'attack'.

I should be back on Monday, though, which is when next turn's orders are in, so that should be okay.  Sorry King.))

((It's not that. It's just that I can't really talk with the others if they use telepathy and are sneaking from enemies, since talking could alert the monsters. I thought this would have been a good opportunity to see how is Sasha currently feeling about the whole situation for RP with other characters.))

You sit back in the ash, leaning against a trio of thick flower stems with your rifle resting in your lap.  You fiddle with your ear protection, trying to make it muffle the excessively loud music a little better, while the other girls gather around the edge of the flowers, clearly ready for a fight.  Too bad you can't actually communicate with them with this music; you'd pretty much have to shout.

As time drags on, everyone waiting for something unknown, your thoughts drift to what you'll do after this.  What you'll wish for.  The first thing to pop into your mind, of course, is your bedridden grandfather, delirious with sickness.  You've been taking care of him for the last week, watching him slowly... fade away.  You scrunch up your face and stare down at his rifle, unhappy.  That would definitely be the best thing to wish for, but you think it was mentioned that Asha can heal people, without needing wishes or anything?  If you can convince her to heal your grandfather, you'd still have your wish.

Maybe you should wish for money?  You know your grandfather had to start working again after your dad disappeared, just to get enough money to take care of you, and it's been really hard on him.  Plus, the other adults in the family are always complaining about not having enough money anymore, so maybe if you wished to be rich, and then shared, they would be nicer to you?

...No, your father always said they weren't judgemental and unhappy because they were poor.  He always said that was just who they were, rich or poor, and that you should accept that.  Maybe you could wish for them to be better people?  Your father taught you that you couldn't change people, only learn who they were and how to deal with them, but you have a wish, maybe you could make them change.

...But if you could do that, maybe you're thinking small.  Maybe you could wish for Russia to become a great country again, so everyone back home would be happy, and nobody would have to leave the country.  Or, you could wish for the whole world to be happy!  You suddenly recall your dad talking about a book he liked, where a man wished for something like that.  What was it?  'Happiness for everyone, for free, and no one would walk away unsaisfied'?  You struggle to recall what your dad said about that wish, whether he thought a selfess wish like that was good or bad, but you draw a blank.  You really wish you could ask him, he always knew the answers, to everything.

You look back up at the other girls, still poised, ready to attack.  They're really serious about this stuff.  It's really dangerous.  You look back down at your rifle, and think about the war stories your grandfather occasionally tells.  He once said that when you've been in combat, everything else looks different.  He said people don't understand what's really valuable in life, not unless they've had to wonder whether they'd still be alive tomorrow.  When you're in a true fight for your life, the only things that are valuable are those that will keep you alive, and those that will keep your brothers alive.  Maybe you should think like that, if you're going to be fighting in labyrinths like this.  Instead of making a wish to help your family, or other people, you should just wish for something that will help keep you and your friends alive.  Like a wish that you and the other girls are invulnerable, or extra powerful, or something...

You're brought out of your thoughts when Asha sits down next to you, resting her chin on her knees while giving you a worried look.  You guess she got bored of waiting with the other girls.  After a moment, you hear her voice in your head, and suddenly remember that she's been able to speak into your mind since she gave you that ribbon.

<Are you okay?  Your thoughts seemed sad.  Uh, I mean, I can sort-of sense how you feel, but I can't read your mind or anything!  Umm.  Are your ears still hurting, or, uh, anything else?  I could heal you if you're hurt, you know!  I shouldn't do it a lot, but ocasionally healing people isn't a problem for me!>

((Also, Syv, how about posting the answers to those IC questions I asked of you?))

(Devastator) Hmm, can you defeat a witch by running her out of magic?
(Devastator) Consider that question asked of Pumsy.
(syv) "What?  Uhm, well, sort of I guess?  Their magic isn't like your magic, though.  They don't have much of your magic left."
(syv) "Oh, please don't try, Alida!  Your magic is *way* limited than theirs!  It works differently, if you just pit your magic against their's then you'll be drained super quick!"
(Devastator) "Limited.. is that why you're having us work together, then?  So we can team up?"
(syv) "Uh huh!  Magical girls who work together do much better!  Your magic only gets stronger when you're with each other."
(syv) "Well, usually.  But you all get along, so it's okay!"
(Devastator) "Yeah..  If you see Mina again, tell her I'm sorry about that kick."
(Devastator) "If she wants, she can kick me back."
(syv) "Okay, Alida!  I'll go tell her now!"

((Pumsy then left, visited Mina, and didn't tell her anything.))

((Random question: Does anyone know a way to recolor links to be the same color as default text--I.E. black or white, depending on theme?  I noticed that the link in my last post let me view the abbr text on mobile, and since I use a lot of abbrs in this game it would be great if I could make them viewable for mobile readers.  I'd just rather not recolor large segments of text to do it.))

You carefully sneak out of the flower forest, keeping an eye on the slowly retreating familiar, and make your way over to the window.  Like just about everything around here, there's a layer of ash over it, which you wipe off with a sleeve.  Once the ash is off, you can see that the glass makes a rough image, on the left side showing a disturbingly deformed young girl... or at least what you think is supposed to be a girl, and a series of abstract star shapes above and to the right of her.

You tap on the glass a few times, stepping back in case some monster comes leaping out at you.  After a few seconds with no response, you step back up to the window and inspect the edges.  You find a somewhat rusty latch at the bottom of the window, and pull on it a little, to see if it's rusted solid.  Surprisingly, it opens up with only a light touch, and the window splits down the center, the two halves swinging inward and separating the girl from the stars.

You look inside.  There's an entire room beyond the window, pristine, colorful, and lavishly decorated.  It seems to be a dining room, as there's a long table in the middle, neatly set, with bowls of strange-looking food in front of each chair.  The walls are garishly coloured, fanciful abstract murals decorating them, and the plush carpets are similarly colourful, swirls of bright rainbows clashing against each other in a insult to good design.

Then you notice something very odd: the entire floor is covered in clear water.  It looks ankle-deep, yet you can't see any sign of water damage, as if the room was only just flooded minutes ago.  Another oddity is the ceiling; it's bare concrete, utterly different from everything else in the room, bare bulbs strung along thin power cables that weave across the ceiling chaotically.  The wires lead to three doors--though you can't actually see the third, it's somewhere to your left--which are nearly invisible, due to the colourful murals being painted over them as well as the wall.  One door is directly ahead of you, the other at the head of the table, to your right.

You back away from the window, accidentally bumping into Alida who's been standing right behind you.  You apologize to her, then, after checking that the skeletal familiar is still unaware of you, describe what you just saw to the others.

..I'm gone until Monday.

You carefully follow along behind Tooru, lengthening your club until it's as long as a bat, then you stand guard behind her while she inspects the window.  You keep a careful eye on the unicorn monster, someone managing to not notice the disastrously gaudy decor on the other side of the window, or at least not until Tooru backs up and bumps into you.  Then you spare a quick look at the window, before returning your gaze to the skeleton.  If nothing else, you don't think it could fit through the window.  The clay people definitely could, though.

((Next update Tuesday the 2nd.  Current labyrinth track: Steve Miller Band - Fly like an Eagle (Instrumental).))
