Break a new hole on the right side of the box, then send mini-us through it to investigate the battle(?).
+1, but first, cease to experience emotions as we have learned how unpleasant they are.

Definitely don't do the thing with sending 5 squares. That sounds dangerous.
-1 to ceasing to experience emotions; they're quite nice, and losing them might cause us to lose motivation to do things.
I'll -1 that as well, remember last time we lost reason to do things?
-1 to ceasing to experience emotions.
If we don't have emotions then what's the point of keeping the cat or dan around?

Er it was less we stopped having a reason, and more that we overloaded on addictive happiness.

I'm pretty sure that we became faded out/white because we lost the motivation to do anything.

Create an entity that is just like we were when we began. Observe what it starts doing.
Make sure it can't yet perceive us, anything around us, or anything our scanner found.

Grow an arm with a hand, so that we might pet Cat if they return.

I agree, but since we gained the ability to feel emotions after the start, we clearly had motivation before emotions. So there's no reason to think we would lose it again. I suppose we could perform a test by having only the small chunk lose emotions.

You want to give a piece of ourselves different thought processes than the rest of ourself? You do realize that that will likely cause the piece to become an independent entity, right?

DO NOT LOSE EMOTIONS. THIS COULD HAVE VERY UNPREDICTABLE RESULTS.

That's certainly a possibility!

+1 to losing emotions. Maybe we'll act more rationally without them.

How about we cut off part of us with a heart, make that part stop experiencing emotions with a machine, and then ask it to advise us on things.

+1.
I think we should also create another dot and see how it acts. We can use it, for example, to resolve the question about whether losing emotion is dangerous, without having to break off ourself.
