Don't roll yet, Tyrant---we need to see that space tech first! Or, rather, Fox does.

Can we get some stats for ship types, please? Like, what's on each type, a name for each class (We can come up with those names if necessary), and the relative power of their propulsion and power generation systems?

Edit: Yeah at size cruiser ship commanders can pimp it out with selection of weapon lay out or bonus gear. Only bonus gear is improved/pulse engines or teleporter. Cruisers cannot get them but battle ships+ can. Engines is two slots. Weapon systems cost one except macro cannons and molten guns. Which are three.

Tyrant, my point is that there is a difference between 'hard sci-fi' and 'GM just gave his players access to alternate dimensions and teleporters and infinite energy and is going to have to strongly consider how wise that is later when the players brutally exploit it'.

Basically, how many doors do you want to open, do you want this to be 'soft sci-fi' or 'hard sci-fi'? You've got a strange mix of elements of both (Maybe it's just 40k or something) and it's going to make things weird fast. In fact, it kinda already is making things weird.

It is based on 40k. Except things are not set in stone. There is no God Emperor. And such.

If you think this is weird, the table top I made of this with my friends includes space magic, which I left out here on purpose.

The thing is, tabletops have rolls and such to decide *everything*, and they (generally) don't allow for nigh-unlimited innovation. And while yes, it's fine that you want a more soft sci-fi, *be careful*. I can tell you right now I'm going to be screwing with such things if possible, simply because it's available.

Sorry, forgot to post and left for a few hours.

(Looks like you guys need additional Commanders. Well, here I go...)

Commander Name: Mnemosyne Aipsyte (pronounced " Nemo-Sign Eyesight")

Commander Mindset: Watchful

Company Name: Unit CW-379 a.k.a. The Cerebral Warhost

Doctrine:
Sharp Shooters (Troops are good with all ranged weapons)
Fast Deployment (Troops are rapidly deployed into advantageous situations)
Intense Hand-to-Hand (Troops are particular good in melee combat)

Homeworld: Artayllia (Psionic Academy)

Gear Bonus:
Modified Weapons (Free revised gear)
Camouflage (Troops are harder to spot)
Xeno Beasts (Xeno beasts bred and trained to fulfill a variety of roles)

Fluff: Hailing from planet Artayllia, a world that is known for plants that produce mind-enhancing spores, Unit CW-379 or The Cerebral Warhost as it is widely known is a company that is led by the watchful commander Mnemosyne Aipsyte. While considered a general purpose company, the Cerebral Warhost is particularly good at hit and run attacks, ambushes, raids, and other tactics that require speed, stealth, and mobility. To this purpose, Armored Personnel Carriers are used to quickly get troops to wherever they are needed and special camouflage ensures that the enemy remains unaware of their presence until it is too late. The troops are also fitted with modified gear to aid Unit CW-379 in playing to its strengths. Their gear, vehicle, and ships are smooth and organic in shape and sports the company colors of purple, white, and silver.

Trained in the use of all basic weaponry of the Remnant, each Warhoster unit can be retooled to take on almost any type of threat, be it flying within range or running on the ground just to name a few. Due to special hand-to-hand combat courses established by Commander Mnemosyne herself, Warhosters excel in close quarters combat and some had even been formed into combat units that are completely dedicated to melee. However, contrary to popular belief, Mnemosyne doesn't run her blade-wielding Warhosters straight into heavy gunfire; she simply maneuvers them into position and waits until there is an opening and the enemy is distracted by the main force before committing them into the fight. Though some of her peers believed that the use of dedicated melee soldiers is so last millennia, Mnemosyne believes that with the further advancement of technology and the appearance of more alien threats, fighting with a sword will become as viable and as important as shooting a gun.

To supplement the Cerebral Warhost's tactics wherever Mnemosyne sees fit, xeno beasts are bred and trained. These creatures fulfill a variety of roles ranging from scouting, to warfare and siege, to even searching for fugitives and traps. Lastly, Artayllia is home to a series of psionic academies who make use of the planet's special spores-producing plant for training new adepts and psionic research. These gifted people are able to manipulate matter with their minds and are used in communications, combat support, searching, and even as melee specialists, using their minds and blades to deadly effect.

(On a side note: Perhaps you can put all relevant information (commander/company details, enemies, weapon details, current commanders, technologies, etc) onto a single file, like Google Docs for example. That way, new players won't have to 'flip' through several thread pages to look something up. Anyway, do I wait until you roll for my number of starting tech before posting on the IC?)

Oh I pm that to you friend. Great write up.

And really when it comes to modified weapons you get to make them up yourself as long it's nothing passed lasers, and stuff like that. I plot that with each game phase to do a update on this thread as to tech, designs and enemies. Currently going to look through and write up everything on file to make it easier on myself.

Will submit stuff latter to your pm.

Thanks! About the modified weapons, do I make one up each mission and put it in a spoiler for later use or is it one use only? Also, will we get to create and name units (groups of soldiers used for certain purposes)?

Oh they are not one time use. They are in your private arsenal but spoiler tag them.

As for unit creation, it is possible for named units with said gear and named for whatever purpose they serve.

Now for the pm.
