Graveyard of the Gods: A Ye Gods Gaiden
« on: September 26, 2017, 11:58:13 pm »

It is known that even the Divine die. This is the story of the fallen, the forgotten, and the beaten.

Who are you? You struggle to remember in this strange cacophony of voices, as you float without form in this shapeless void. You know you are a god of course, but god of what? As you ponder this you remember one important thing. You died. Your essence spent, you ceased to exist in any meaningful form, and yet here you are. As you ponder this, you become aware of a voice rising above all the others.

"Wake up little godlings. For godlings you may well be, the way you act now. Perhaps worse than godlings. Come now. Just calm down, and remember. Though you may wish you hadn't...

((Basically, do you have an pre existing god character who died? Come join the fun as we all complain about how terrible life was. Or reminisce about good times I suppose.))

Shrieking, Melyssa awoke. With panicked eyes she looked around, until she spotted the familiar god of greed himself.

"Where have you taken me, vile thing?!"

((I'm mostly assuming the original bubble was blow up by Fusil or something anyway, considering Azem never died either.)

"Where seems to be the question of the day. I presume you are from my bubble, though my memory is hazy. You are the goddess of torture yes?"

((I have another idea if you deem Stirk's Litany of the Void non-canon.))

A train of thought screeches to a halt nearby as a figure practically jumps out of it. Of course, in this measureless place, none of that matters. What matters is how angry the figure's voice sounds like.

"Wake up!? Wake up!? The moment I manage to dream again, you tell me to WAKE UP?! Who do you think you are?"

"This is going well so far. My name is Azem Goldfather, the god of, at various times, greed wealth and trade. Not that it matters much anymore. And you are?"

The formless form bows sarcastically. One might imagine it impossible in a spaceless space, but this idea of a sarcastic bow is in fact the very epitome of an unambiguously sarcastic bow, clearly defined to be different from, say, a sarcastic nod or a humble bow. A mere idea perhaps, but that is all it needs to be.

"Aurosseu. The Absolver, Giver of the New Dawn. Huh, something's missing. I'm also...I was...I was the Keeper of Dreams. But where did that part go?"

Aurosseu's anger seems to have been replaced by confusion.

"I am afraid I cannot help you. We are in the same boat, so to speak."

The form of Azem somehow conveys restlessness.

"How queer it feels to so be so formless. And yet, I suppose it is our natural state. More true to our nature as beings of pure essence."

Two figures lurk in the corner of non-reality. Two figures with various implemens stuck in their hips and enjoying cups of tea.

"Sadiq? A pleasure."

"Ah and sister Mavnon, you are here again? Cut off a bit too much, yes?"

"Hardly. Bubble collapsed, as you'd expect."

"Ah. Of course."

"Well, I've officially gone insane. Or sane, I don't know. You certainly sound like the Azem who was dreamed up by Uztot, a god who...doesn't seem to be here right now. Where is here anyway?"

"Ignoring that first part for the moment, I have a question for you. Do you remember dying?"

"Not really, just centuries of being awake, then finally dreaming again here. But now that you mention it...I feel like I have no Crux. Which is probably the definition of being dead. Huh, I thought dying would be more shocking, assuming you're not just a hallucination conjured up by my Waking World-ravaged mind."
