Calamities of the new gods
« on: September 20, 2017, 01:48:34 pm »

From nothing awareness. Gods came into being, formed from void on the back of stray thoughts, loose imaginations and empty minds.  They didn't believe in anything and their minds wandered spawning random gods from their unclaimed belief.

The plains stretched to the ends of the sky the mountains and the swamp were the only blotches on this endless canvas everything else was flat, featureless and undisturbed. It was a boring empty and barren place. It wasn't completely bereft of life however, thick reed like grass grew in clumps clinging to the landscape and the odd ponderous herbivore sought these clumps out to graze on them.
The Vri were a simple people, they hunted the few beasts of the plains with rocks that they threw with great accuracy. They had not long ago mastered fire and had already put it to use cooking their meat. They where tall humanoid creatures, thick fur on their backs and large powerful hands. They were also the world's first mortals and were there were mortals gods would soon follow. A slew of gods had already formed, some terrible and others beautiful but all full of energy. Ready and looking to change this untouched world.

Lu acted quicker than the other gods, his speed and strength giving him an edge over the more ponderous gods. Some may believe that his tenancy to rush into things was rash. They might be right.

Lu uses an act to create a magical boomerang. This boomerang is immensely heavy to pick up allowing only some of the strongest members of the race attempting to pick it up to wield it. Upon attempting to throw and catch the boomerang it is actually quite light. However upon hitting a target regains its weight and hits with incredible force. Shortly after catching the boomerang its weight returns.

Lu makes this magical boomerang appear among the mortal village, floating in midair until one attempts to grab it.

Acter found these mortals - these "Vri" - quite intruiguing. But he felt that they may need some help. And so, he gave them gifts.

With one of his acts, he brought to them an Innovative Discovery with which to start them on the path to greatness.
With a second, he made The Rivershore, an Area ideal for the creation of a city; the soil is fertile, the river draws animals, and by it are trees with wide and waxy leaves offer shelter from rain, as well as good looking-posts from which to watch for invaders and dangerous beasts. Then, he showed a select few Vri - the ones with the clearest minds, the most willing to try new things - of the peacefulness of the Rivershore, and of how nice a place to live it is (minor act).

[Minor Act: Acter claims the color cyan as the color of his voice.]

Exkit looked upon the grass-covered plains, and could barely restrain his urge to burn it all. Turning away from the tempting fire hazard, he set his sights instead upon the snow-covered mountains- the perfect place to cool off.

(Move to Mountains)

There were mortals here too, he saw. Lacking resources, they were forced to take from others. This did not especially bother Exkit, though he wished their attention could be turned to more productive measures. Well... that'd have to wait.

Exkit chose for himself a mountain- taller than the rest, full of potential. He sent his mind deep into the earth, and summoned the molten rock that churned below, and drove it up, forcing openings in the stone. Eventually, it breached the surface, and noxious gasses and glowing lava spewed forth. It was, he thought, only a paltry volcano- but it would suffice as his home, for now. He named the peak Diaq.

Act: Create Area: Diaq, a volcano that rises above the other peaks of the mountains. It is ever so slightly warmer here than in the neighbouring mountains. (And, obviously, a lot warmer where lava emerges)
(Move to Diaq)

Mithra saw the pitiful creatures of the barren reed strewn plains. Vri, with their brutish and short lives of hunting and gathering caused the gods heart to ach in sympathy. Mithra could not let their lives go on as such, it knew it had to take action. And so it did.

The First Act that Mithra took was to appear to the Vri. Standing before the mortals in it's glory, appearing to each one differently then the last. It pronounced itself to them in their own crude language. "I am Mithra. The healer. The home maker. God. I have seen your lives and felt moved for I am great and see greatness in you. I have come to give you gifts to make your lives easier and more enjoyable. Worship me and receive my gifts."And so Mithra walked among the Vri. With it's touch their afflictions were cured and their pains eased. The god whispered to the mortals of itself, and of them, of how the god saw them as worthy, and how it loved them.

When Mithra completed it's journey though the tribe of Vri it committed it's second great act. It took from itself a seed and planted it into the ground, the ground heaved and undulated as it changed. From the hardscrabble reed filled Plains came a new land, adjacent to The Rivershore, Mithras Heartlands were created, a land of extremely fertile fields that stretched far before gently rising into rolling hills thicketed with woods.

Within Mithras Heartlands a new plant sprung to life. A grain blessed by Mithra itself, Mithras grain covered the heartlands in gently undulating golden waves. A naturally bountiful plant that provided many nutrients for both animal and mortal alike to feast on, and perfect for farming.

"See now my children? The new lands I give to you? Soon the plant eaters will gorge themselves on my grain, and you shall grow upon them. Live now in these new lands of plenty of happiness."

"The God of Insanity bestowed upon the world, gazing its existence upon its central eye, staring upon its existence, it needed the essence of the world to recognize its existence and that established constructs and laws, all rot away in the test of time

First Act: Create the first sprout of Captivations, group of large stout land light-purple mushrooms, reaching about 2 ft in their prime, that are very edible and nutritious to the creatures that eat them. They are very sporadic and reproduce rapidly through emanating multiple seeds into the air. Their is a nasty side effect when digested, the user who eats this at first will start to get quickly addicted, based on the heavy concentration of sugar and other chemicals, that creatures start develop light-moderate form of cravings within the brain, with them not ignoring their physiological needs but on the off-time they seem to spent mental energy on finding and grazing off these shrooms. Longtime addicts often suffer from a heavy dose of withdrawal for a user, has has the high possibility will lead to mental fatigue and permanent neurological damage to the user, since they need a have established portion of it in their diets, even for the most mentally-strong of individuals. Eventually in the end, the user has become too addicted to these mushrooms, they have established a connection to these shrooms, and the addict creatures will personally devote a large part of their free-time to graze of this commodity that has become a natural part of their traditional diet, thought physiological needs will always take first place in priority. It's only a natural part of positive reinforcement that creatures perform a dependency on this resource, mental manipulation at its finest.

A second act to cause into the "Vri", they all seem to be stable and self-motivated, what fruitful traits these are, the god's individually picks up one of these sentient Vris, and infects his mind with auditory and visual schizophrenia from the very unnerving stare caused by the central eye that peels open its brain allowing it to be altered, that makes it very difficult to allow the Vri to utilize their senses and make logic out of the world, it becomes a hassle for them to use their sensory memory which means short-term memory encoding suffers. But secondary, this special form of schizophrenia also infects the reproductive drive of the Vri from the psychological effect of the brain's alteration, and makes them want to continuously reproduce at a rate that is considered unhealthy to the creature. This form of schizophrenia has a rapid rate of mutation, nearly a third of the Vri's who parents had this disease will suffer this affliction, sometime in their life. Usually right past their prime, on the most common scenario

Tertiary Act: (Move to the Mountains), finally X'arilyg dawned upon the mountain seeing as their is little of hospitable life, it spree another sproudling of Captivatians unto the mountains, allowing the stalky purple mushrooms to sprout as the only plant across the region

Lu sees the inhospitality of the mountains and decides that only the truly strong could reside in such a place. However, the mortals were too weak in their current form to survive long enough to become strong here. After much contemplation, Lu creates the Mountain Potato. Mountain Potatos grow under rocks, with their twiggy inedible vines spreading out from underneath. The weight of the rock allows the mountain potato to grow larger, with heavier rocks concealing better and better potatoes. Without the weight of the rock, the potatoes fail to grow. The potatoes themselves are incredibly dense and difficult to chew, however a single potato from a very heavy rock could feed a single individual for days. The potato has a very tasty flavor, somewhere between a sweet potato and a banana.

Act: Create the Mountain Potato, a tuber which can only grow under extreme weight/pressure. The more weight, the more nutritious the potato.

Gnyr always wondered where the meat was the best. Hmm, maybe lean meat in the mountains or fat and juicy meat in plains? OH, I know meat with flavor is best
Gnyr decided to create a new land, called Ignus and move there, to give the Vri plants that will flavor meat, spices, and a rock that when crushed it will also flavor meat and persevere it. Gnyr give a young and inquisitive member of the Vri a dream of a plant that when crushed makes meat taste better. Another night Gnyr gives a different member of the tribe a dream of a rock that when crushed and spread over meat makes it, meat, last longer.

The obelisk desired a place to rest and relax, and so it formed a beautiful coast, and in there a bay, perfect for fishing. On a cliff overlooking the bay, Oba rested, sinking half the bulk of his form into the ground, and the other half, over 10 meters tall and 2 meters wide raised into the sky. It was good, for a time, but there were too many birds and not enough mortals, so Oba brought from the earth 3 servants. 2 were were of earth, with a face made of obsidian and shards of gleaming metal sprinkled throughout their body. They were the Caretakers, level 5 preachers, and they would go out to the tribes of the plains and convince them to come to the city. The other was a Silver Knight, formed of brightness and armed with a sharp blade and a formidable shield. He was a level 5 fighter, kept hidden for the time being unless called upon to fight.
Once the Vri were gathered, Oba had the Caretakers guide them in how to thrive on the coast, and to teach them to care for and worship Oba. When a Vri was sick, they would be brought to Oba, and a prayer would be said and offerings made, and Oba would heal them. For the most part, however, Oba kept quiet and enjoyed the crash of the water on the coast. Though he did try to gently shoo away any sea birds.

1 Act: Create a Bay area, good for fishing and eventually a port.
2 Acts: Create 3 Servants, 2 Caretakers, level 5 preachers, and a Silver knight, a level 5 fighter. He manifests the Caretakers, and sends them preaching and calling Vri to his area. Once there, 1 Caretaker stays and teaches the people how to thrive on the coast, and and 1 Caretaker roams and continues to preach to the Vri.

Lu was sure that the oceans belonged to him, yet another god had the audacity to impede upon what Lu saw as his. This was incredibly annoying, but would not deter Lu.

Lu created the Shallow Sea, an incredibly vast ocean which ranges between 2 and 8 feet deep with the majority of it being around four feet deep. This huge swath of area adjoins most of the planes as well as contains/surrounds the bay. The Shallow Sea itself is littered with small islands so that 2/5ths of the total area is actually above the water level (though many more islands may appear during low tide). The area between the plains and the Shallow Sea is a long flat beach, unlike the lonely cliffs near the bay.

Act: Create the shallow sea on the edge of the plains.

Lu spends the rest of his actions on creating a powerful servant. The great beast Atu. It appears as a great beast, black as night, immensely large, incredibly strong, and and utterly terrifying. It's incredibly large, capable of devouring several Vri in one bite. Yet it's strength and size are not it's only powers. Atu has a strong grasp of magic, and knowledge of a great many things. It travels the world spreading the word of Lu and gathering followers. Atu travels and visits a great many mortals, spreading word of Lu and his doctrine of strength. Those that can prove their strength and accept Lu as their god are granted Atu's blessing. Those that cannot are given a choice: accompany Atu on it's journey until they can prove their strength, or be devoured. Those that prove their strength and do not follow Lu are cursed so that their strength quickly fades from them, while those that do follow Lu are blessed with increased strength and vitality.

While these are the most common uses of Atu's magic, these are not the limit, and those who can prove their strength in magic can beseech Atu for his guidance. Others seeking knowledge or strength may seek out Atu in the hopes that the great beast will aid them in some way. Even those who Atu has cursed can return for repentance. Those seeking strength, knowledge, magic, or even a cure for addiction can all beseech Atu, he is not picky about requests for aid. While a small number of these mortals may be devoured by Atu for being weak, those who can prove themselves and worship Lu may receive the guidance they so desire.

3 acts. Create Atu, a giant monster, to serve as champion and herald of Lu. 10 points in combat, 7 points in magic, 6 points in preaching, 4 points in wisdom/knowledge. If possible make Atu in the bay and then move him to the plains. If not, just make him in the plains.

At the summit of Diaq, where molten rock flows freely, Exkit laboured for five days and five nights. He drew from the churning lava purest obsidian, and shaped it into a pair of nigh-indestructible gauntlets. Once formed, he plunged them into a pool of snowmelt, then spent many hours refining them, carving intricate patterns into the midnight surfaces. Once his work was done, he travelled to the Bay, and wordlessly delivered his work to Lu, before returning to Diaq.

Act: Create Artifact: Obsidian Gauntlets: Shaped of blackest obsidian, these gauntlets automatically resize themselves to fit the bearer- though no matter their size, they are always incredibly heavy, requiring great strength to wield. Any damage that would be done to the wielder is done to the gauntlets instead- and the gauntlets are by no means weak, easily absorbing nearly endless punishment.
The bearer is cursed to be endlessly challenged for the right to wield the Obsidian Gauntlets, and is required to accept them all (provided they are reasonable). Should they lose such a challenge, they shall be struck down instantly- and the winner gets the gauntlets.
(Possible abilities: Passive: Increases combat strength, Active: Prevent the equipped character from dying/being destroyed this turn, no matter what dangers they face. Or something. I dunno.)
Give Obsidian Gauntlets to Lu.

Astarth watched and sipped her tea. It was a decent simple tea without any great refinements to it although she did sometimes think adding a bit of milk would be most excellent. Of course, such heretical thoughts were often brushed away by other, more pressing matters.

The world was young and its people most curiously interesting. Already the others had made their moves, doing what it was gods did to eat or drink or whatever it was that gods did to survive. It was time to enact her own plans.

Journeying unto the Mountains, Astarth did bid forth the creation of her sanctum. The earth shook, and it was done. What was once bare stone was now excavated and constructed and decorated. Great hearths and halls with many a room to expand, the Lunar Priory would serve as the goddesses' earthly residence, as well as her followers. Within the bounds of the Priory, no wind blew. No sun shined, and no star twinkled. And yet, it was not a true hell.

Though the illusionary sky in the Priory was dark, its crafted Moon provided its own gentle heat, just enough to allow plants to thrive. Furthermore, the boundaries of the Priory were defended by the will of the goddess herself; those who lacked her permission were disallowed entry and could not even step one foot inside. Furthermore, a powerful glamour allowed those in the sanctum to age slower and appear to others inside as how they wanted to look like, rather than how they actually were. Finally, diseases were not nearly as horrendous in the Priory than in other places.

The Priory built, Astarth decided to have some tea. Good tea.

1 Minor Act: Move to the Mountains
1 Act: Found the Lunar Priory area atop a high peak in the Mountains. A grand monastery built into the rock and having a garden facade, it is protected by outsiders by a magical field that prevents all uninvited mortals/creatures/non-gods from entering without Astarth's consent. It is eternally spring within the Priory, with no strong wind or great sun. Indeed, it is eternally lit by moonlight that is seemingly strong enough to support plant growth. Those in the Lunar Priory age slower and appear as they wish to appear rather than they actually are. Diseases and the like cannot progress, transmitted nor caught in the Priory.
1 Act: Create Camellia sinensis, a species of plant that can be used to produce tea. Of the many possible teas one can create from sinensis, White Tea is the easiest and quickest. However, White Tea differs that due to its relative purity, it can cause divine dreams of contentment and happiness in the world. For those who are persecuted or outcasts, it also gives them a slight knack for divination, as well as dreams to seek out the Lunar Priory. Those who truly desire to reach the Priory soon have dreams directing them towards the Priory, even without consuming tea.
1 Minor Act: Personally strew all areas with Camellia sinensis. The best Camellia sinensis is grown in the Priory.
1 Minor Act: In the guise of a vri, teach people how to produce tea from sinensis.
