Just diversify yourself a little bit, say your the God of Plants, or the God of Deserts. I mean in my personally taste, a God of Cacti would fall under the sphere of Comedy.

Hey, if you can come up with a way to make it work, feel free to try. As has been stated, though, it'll be more difficult. If that's your plan, you really should just consider being the desert god.
