Turn 7You scramble out of the room, going into the room that was on your right. Inside, you find a strange machine. It seems like a dispensary device of sorts. It has a slot with an engraving of a knife above it, and a small flap at the bottom from which you surmise items may be ejected.
You perform the ritual once again, clearing your mind and trying to guide your incorporeal being to the River. (3) A few drops of blood splatter across the dials. You try the ensuing combo, which goes as follows: oox+x=~
You press the button.
The room quakes, and the walls and ceiling all move in about an inch.
After you speak, the other contestant smiles.
"There's not actually any point to killing each other in here, you're fucked no matter what happens. Unless a lobotomy followed by several weeks of torture in the event of you winning is your idea of a worthwhile existence, that is."
It seems as if they trust you. Now comes the easy part.
As you begin to cross the room, everything begins to spin. You feel nauseated as the walls seems to spin, revealing a second set of walls behind them. The old doors are concealed by the wall as it spins, and a new door appears to your left. Two panels on the ground slide open, and a strange machine slides out of the ground. It seems like a dispensary device of sorts. It has a slot with an engraving of a knife above it, and a small flap at the bottom from which you surmise items may be ejected.
You convey your thoughts to the other person, who is sure enough wearing the same clothing as you and, upon closer inspection, has a knife just like yours strapped to his side. They seem considerably calmer, and smile at your reassurance.
"You know, there was actually this weird ass machine in the room behind me, it might be causing this. Wanna check it out?".
It seems as if they're pacified.
(6) You exit the room via the door behind the machine, and find yourself in a narrow corridor. You sprint down it as a few bullets pierce the door behind you and embed themselves in the walls and floor near you. You reach the end of the corridor, duck into the door there, and enter a room with blue walls. A red door and a green door are both within this room, the first leading right and the latter left. You notice a crate in the center of the room, sealed with a few nails.
(7 vs. 2, 5 vs. 4)
Before they can react, one of the guards has a throwing knife stuck in their throat. They collapse, clawing at the knife as blood gurgles in their throat. The other guard also gets hit, but only in the lower arm. The resulting wound causes the guard to drop their springrifle, but isn't going to be fatal. The guard rushes you, (1 vs. 5) but only lands face down in the dirt as you nimbly dodge.
You pull off the bag. The man's face is covered in open wounds and cuts, and is rather grimy. His features are gaunt from malnutrition, and he seems extremely frail. He glares at you.
"Asperica will one day be free from filth like you."
The man spits at you, dirtying your sleek military uniform. The man tries looking defiant, but you can tell he's more than a bit afraid.
