So, in the interest of aiding any new players, or old players who have fallen behind, I'm gonna write a TLDR for the Kingsmoot.
Harmondale, 352 LL: The king of Harmondale is dead, and has left no heir behind. So the lords of the land decide to hold a kingsmoot.
Mavi Diventrade (Tack), the head of the former king's household, welcomes any claimant with Kingsblood to the moot.
Baroness Helga Gertasdottir (Iituem) impatiently awaits the candidates.
Falsktnafn Svertharmathur (NUKE9.13), despite having no invitation, shows up to the moot and spreads rumours of a stranger bearing a legendary sword coming to claim the throne by divine appointment. He then visits the tent of
Master Constantine Logos Valerian (Digital Hellhound), leader of an order of knights from the south, who is very impressed by his glowing talking sword, so much so that he agrees to accompany him to
Grandmaster Pyoraxis (NPC), leader of the Cult of Ilos and overseer of the kingsmoot.
Archmage Luwald Armiles (Roboson), a high ranking priest who also happens to have kingsblood, has come to attend the moot and put himself forwards as a claimant. He is greeted by Mavi, who asks whether it is possible to be both an Archmage and a King.
A servant of Helga's intercepts Falsktnafn and Constantine on their way to the Grandmaster, dragging him away for a one-on-one talk. She asks for his background, where he got his sword. He replies that it was granted to him by an angel, who commanded him to take the throne of Nordric. She offers to help him, by fabricating documents suggesting that he possesses kingsblood, albeit watered down and bastardised. In exchange, she wants a seat on his council should he become king.
Alric Falbrand (Shootandrun), an unlanded- though not unimportant- nobleman discusses the moot with Mavi.
Astralia Voidtrik (Shadowclaw777), alchemist/mercenary leader, approaches Luwald, offering to share her magical tomes with him in exchange for an apprenticeship, and possibly a position at court should he become king.
Mavi and Helga discuss the candidates so far, and also flirt for some reason.
Domnall [no last name](Ghazkull), a Nordan highlander, enquires after a man matching Falsktnafn's description. He meets with Mavi, claiming that the sword is stolen, and that Falsktnafn murdered the previous owner. He intends to challenge Falsktnafn to a duel (specifically, Holmgang). Mavi seems sceptical, but eventually agrees to arrange the fight. He asks Domnall to hand over his sword, which he does. Mavi then attempts to arrest him for preregicide. Domnall objects, assaulting the guards with bare fists. He fails to acquire a weapon, and is forced to flee.
Alric meets with Helga, and they discuss the moot.
Luwald blocks Falsktnafn and Constantine as they attempt to meet with the Grandmaster. After a demonstration of the sword's powers, Luwald allows him to visit the Grandmaster.
Count Hardrick af Silfverstolpe (mcclay), possessed of kingsblood, land, and considerable skill at seduction, belatedly arrives at the moot, and announces his candidacy.
Mavi, Helga, and Alric gather to decide what to do about Domnall. Alric decides to warn Falsktnafn, whilst Helga attempts to have Domnall arrested.
Falsktnafn meets with the Grandmaster, who after a short conversation, performs a test- the results of which seem to satisfy him, and he allows Falsktnafn to stand in the election.
Luwald and Astralia leave to discuss magic.
Constantine offers his services to Falsktnafn, who accepts. Alric delivers his warning, then speaks with the Swordholder. After some negotiation, Falsktnafn promises Alric the position of Chancellor, in exchange for Alric's help in the election.
Helga catches Domnall. She discusses things with him, then agrees to sort out his troubles and arrange the trial by combat, in exchange for his services. She leaves him in a cell with food, wine, and a woman.
Falsktnafn makes his claim, then has a chat with Mavi.
Falsktnafn's claim goes down exceptionally well. Hardrick's claim goes down reasonably, though his stronger situation sees his support slightly greater than the Swordholder's.
Lord Baemund (NPC) makes his own claim, and as a powerful noble, he attracts the most support.
Falsktnafn announces that, if made king, he will launch a Great Crusade, as well as promising to spend money on the army, the cult, and the economy, whilst also taking advice from others rather than ruling autocratically. This goes down quite well, swelling his support.
Hardrick, Alric, and Helga all work to lower Baemund's support, whilst Constantine speaks for the Swordholder.
The nobles confer, votes are cast, and Grandmaster Pyoraxis announces the results: Falsktnafn, the Swordholder, is the new king of Harmondale.
Baemund and his remaining supporters are furious. Mavi intercepts Baemund as he leaves, and judging him to be a threat to the realm's stability, attempts to arrange an 'accident'.
Falsktnafn takes the regnal name
Osvik I af Harmondale, has a coat of arms made, and secures a private shrine for himself, where he secludes himself for several hours.
Helga arranges a meeting between Osvik and Domnall. A few lines of the Nordan tongue are spoken by both parties. Domnall officially makes his accusations, challenging Osvik to Holmgang. Osvik defers the challenge, claiming that trial by combat may only be invoked after the matter has been investigated. A messenger is sent north, to contact the runesmiths that allegedly hired Domnal, so that they may come and identify the sword.
And then it was done, and the game proper could begin.
Beginning of Winter 352
TLDR for the TLDR; Kingsmoot happened, Falsktnafn Svertharmathur (NUKE9.13) won (and is now called Osvik I af Harmondale).
